It seems like they have this rock-paper-scissors thing going on where mvp beats everyone, mma beats mvp, but mma loses to people mvp would beat. In Korean TLPD MVP is 1-8 vs MMA and in International TLPD he is 9-9 vs MMA. So overall MVP is 10-17 vs MMA (unless there is some tournament/showmatch they played that is not in TLPD, which I don't think there is) (note: I put any league on both links, but the only games in TLPD between them are "official" games that count toward ELO).

1) The game "sorts of" ends up in a base-trade kind of scenario where MMA counters MVP's movements by pushing straight into his base. However, MVP has only himself to blame - he takes his whole army to destroy an out of the way expansion, leaving his base totally open. Contrast with MMA's play where he sent drops to harass MVP's far away expo by dropping marines behind the PF, whilst MVP didn't do the same. It's always a risk to march your army away from the centre and MVP paid the price. 2) MMA pulls off a true cheese but MVP really should've held in my opinion. When MMA came in with the first BIT-BY-BIT, if MVP had ran his army in the right way (i.e. towards his base) - along with his pulled SCVs, I reckon he would've held. Still I guess it was a shock to him because MVP himself went for an aggressive opening and didn't expect to be the defender. 3) MVP opens 1-rax FE into 2-gas banshee - about as greedy as you can get, and refused to build any bunkers. It is a 100% deserved loss.

Game 4 he had won EAAAAAAASY.... but goes carriers into COLOSSI? WHAT WHAT WHAT!!! lol You go carriers into templar/archons!! Why would you force a fuckton of units that counter what you're building, then transition into something that those also counter and CAN'T EVEN HIT! Sigh Congrats to MMA and DRG, finals should be good, but ughughugh

I am really hoping that he can make a comeback to his previous pwning form. MC kinda threw the 4th game, he did a troll build with carriers that would never work vs a top korean zerg. he certainly is in top form now, the best protoss in the scene by far. he made two 2base rushes that weren't supposed to work but his control was out of this world and not many people realize that DRG's zvp record in gsl is something ridiculous 90%ish

It is a 100% deserved loss. I'll add-on here. 1) The openings were different, but both players ended up on even supply Marine-Tank armies. The result will be based on the decisions these players make. MVP made bad ones, MMA made good ones. MMA was simply the better player, period. 2) Both players opened up with very aggressive builds. Neither of them gets any good scouting info, so MVP was in no way trying to counter MMA, at all. If you want to call MMA's G3 build cheese, then MVP was cheesing here. Simple. 3) MMA meta-games the fuck out of MVP, using MVP's build from the last game. MVP is obviously under a lot of stress and either forgets or forgoes a bunker at his main ramp. MMA has beaten MVP in many straight-up games, most (all?) of which you can find the replays of if you don't believe me. A lot of you are up in arms, calling MMA a cheeser or denying his skill. Go watch the 2008 EVER OSL. I always felt that July would have had a good chance at beating BeSt in only macro games. But instead, he gets into BeSt's mind and breaks it over his bended knee. Why take the chance and simply beat your opponent when you can obliterate him instead? On December 16 2011 01:54 Fawkes wrote: DRG vs MMA will be interesting. DRG won last time they met didn't he? Both finalist were babied by the GSL to get their Code S spots after failing to get in through Code A multiple seasons. The tourney should of been set up like a King of the Hill type bracket similar to MLG Providence. It's just a special event, which doesn't really matter that much tbh. Both DRG and MMA earned their way to the finals here. I'm just looking forward to the finals and next year!

Since someone else mentioned it, it is kind of funny that such strong players like DRG, MMA and MC all got to code S from MLG when they are some of the stronger players the competitive scene as seen. :O

The tourney should of been set up like a King of the Hill type bracket similar to MLG Providence. Lame finals? Nay my friend. MMA and DRG have an amazing rivalry going, and hopefully we will see some spectacular games. Both players are among the best players in the world, and both certainly deserve to be there. While both benefited from MLG's Code S seed, both have proven that they can compete at a Code S level. It is basically known that MVP is the most successful player of 2011, very few people if any would contest that. But this is a chance for DRG to prove that he is not just a GSTL master, but someone who could win individual titles as well. And if MMA wins this, you will see people starting to say he is the 2nd best player of 2011.
