Uhen didn't outplay the SlayerS team... SlayerS threw away four straight games (and almost a fifth).
Maybe SlayerS will realize now that they can't play half-asleep, or they might lose to teams that they should sweep. Should have been 5-1. I think the only thing the last game proved that Uhen could have taken down the forge if he'd made one more baneling, and was behind economically after failing his all-in (remember, failing an all-in by definition means you lose. If you can recover from it, it's not "all-in"). Give him crap for using cheesy builds 5 games in a row, but don't take his macro AFTER an all-in as an example of high-level play. Going nydus was the only way he could have put his high-army/low-econ opener to use after he failed the bust. His macro was terrible regardless of his all-in. He was floating plenty of minerals regularly and was repeatedly supply blocked even when phoenixes weren't killing his overlords. I understand that he was behind because his all-in failed, but his macro was sub-par.
question is, if this guy was any good at macro games, would he really all in 5 games in a row? the answer is no.

This is dumb post. There is no point risking a 30 minute macro game if you can get an easy win right then and there, no matter the level of your macro.

He all-inned the SlayerS players five times in a row and the Slayers players never made any defense (except in the last game, where Alicia baaaarely held it). Slayers threw away four straight games. Each game was like five minutes long. Turns out that Uhen just did standard roach-ling or bling-sling all-ins that any Zerg player could do, but when Alicia held it, Uhen fell apart and was incapable of playing a macro game.
We didn't see any impressive play from Uhen, just quick wins. The best game by far was Golden's ZvZ in game three (infestor elimination), although I think his second game (the air ZvP) was great too. Golden got a 4-kill as well, and they were all pretty good games. Golden actually played really well. Definitely the most impressive player of the series. Certainly the least sloppy.

Regardless of whether or not you felt that Uhen was just a cheesy player or that Slayers took needless risks letting it go to an ace match, you have to admit this Team Arena was a nail-biter, and quite frankly, we have not had such an interesting Team Arena in months. Congrats to both Slayers and Tyloo

When this series turns out to be a lot close than everybody thinks, I'm going to quote this post =). Just for the douches saying stuff like Eve could 5-0 Tyloo. Interesting series though -.-. Slayers man, they suck vs roach rushes
LOOOLs. You'd think they learn after Lucky vs. MMA.

SlayerS still refuses to take team arena seriously and doesn't send out any one of their star players everyone wants to see... Where's the fan service?

Well, sending out Dragon was kind of fan service, since he probably would not have gotten any exposure any other way. Also, it was a very interesting series overall with an ace match (which has not happened in months).

TyLoo is invited. "LMAO a chinese team?? slayers eve gonna all kill ezpz!!" Final score 4-5. "What a fucking cheeser!!" If it's done by Stephano, people will call him a bonjwa. Some people are just pathetic. You don't have to be extremely smart to sense the stupid bias and ignorance.

We can watch the star players when they play more important matches. This is a good chance to showcase their lesser known players.

It's $500 every week if Slayers plays to win.

Perhaps you didn't watch the matches, or are you being hyperbolic? The scores alone are not what functions to indicate someone as "cheesy" or "bonjwa" material. I don't disagree that TL bias isn't irritating, but, frankly, Uhen's playstyle was very desperate, and his mechanics were hardly tested by the strategies he picked. The sample size is too low to call him a cheeser (especially given that he was in an emergency situation to win money for his team), but it is true he went for 5 all ins in a row in order to just end things quickly one way or the other. Frankly, I'd have to see more from Uhen to be impressed at all. None of the games I saw were really an indicator of skill, just build order brute force.

I agree with the gent you quoted above - Nexus first on Crevasse is actually quite standard given the size of the map, and the narrow choke at the front. The metagame around Crevasse is a bit like Calm Before the Storm. Honestly, Uhen would've been better served going to macro with those spawns rather than another all in. Perhaps if it had been close by ground spawns than we might've seen the decision making thereof to just go for it, but given long distance spawns I'm inclined to think that the posters above are correct in saying that he intended to do so from the beginning.

Did you watch the games? Watch the games, then comment. Slayers also made a conscious decision to let the series potentially go 5-4 by letting all of their "no-name" players participate, only sending out a semi-A-team player in the 5th game. One of their "no-name" players managed to take out 4 players before getting cheesed.
The 4 games that Uhen cheesed were not games that people could get a good idea of who Uhen is. He didn't show us the depth to his play. Him choosing to do so 5 games in a row makes people wonder. Its not an unfair question to ask if he is or is not a good player.
Its extremely common for teams to send out their B-team players in a match they aren't worried about. It helps give lower-tier players a chance to play in high-stress situations, in hopes of it preparing them for the time when they might be on stage later on. It helps nerves and is good mental conditioning. This map score doesn't tell the story. Do you think Slayers would go 5-4 if they sent out good players? MMA could have 5-0'd this match in an hour.
|
slayers: all our low tier players are defeated time to send out a mediocre one to finish the job.
but honestly theres no reason to bash a player because of cheese or allins. i would like to see you execute those cheese and all in and win.

All this talk is taking away from how well Golden played. The guy is really showcasing his skills in the team arena and I've really become a fan of his style. IMO he was by far the most impressive player in this series.

Great Games tho! <3 Sad we couldn't see Uhen actually macro! :\ even one macro game from him would have sufficed but...all cheese and all ins (((
Hopefully next Team Arena more macro games!!!! love me some macro!~!!!!
