Here we go again. This weekend is about good games and good fun. Don't rain on that parade. Play nice guys. Here's the very standard and friendly:
- NO Balance Whine. - NO Player Bashing. - NO Caster Bashing. - NO BM whatsoever.
Breaking these rules (from pg 166 forward) will be met with severe punishment. |

Seems like QQ time for toss is finally over... Illusion is a no-name. MVP, Bomber, MMA, GanZi, etc. Code S Terrans. You don't exactly need to be good against Protoss in Code S, do you? Seriously though, the 3 Protoss in the WB were seeded very, very highly. HuK and NaNi winning one Bo3, MC winning two. Look at the players that came through the open bracket: MarineKing, Artist, LosirA, Illusion, Leenock, Mvp, NesTea, HerO. One Protoss making it through. There's not really too much of a storyline relating to what you're talking about in this tournament so far. We're not out of the woods yet.
Exactly. The only Protoss to have an impressively long run so far is HerO. The others (MC, Naniwa, HuK) are very good players and were seeded very high. On the other hand, Puzzle and Oz, arguably two of the best protosses in Korea (better than HerO on paper, I would say), were defeated by Ganzi's 1-1-1 in the open bracket. Most open players are Zerg or Terran. About the seeded Terrans: aside from MMA being beaten by DRG, which I wouldn't consider too much of an upset (remember, the so-called "Terran killer"), all players were defeated by only 3 players (MVP, a terran himself, Nestea, HerO, no less) arguably much better than them. Don't worry, we have plenty of TvT today, and many chances to see a Terran in the finals. What we have avoided though is a TvT finals, which I would see as good ;D

Sorry to have offended you my friend. You have convinced me that Protoss is completely overpowered. You should rest and meditate on what you've learned.
+ Show Spoiler +You're not forced to insult me right away, bro. And Naniwa only beat Nestea in the main tournament, not MVP yet, it was his first match compared to Nestea having to play much more, blahblahblah.

What a belligerent post.
Naniwa beat MVP/Nestea in the Global Invitational, which isn't even the main tournament, and then won ONE bo3 vs Nestea in the main tournament.
Protoss is not "rampaging everything". Ganzi has AWFUL TvP, look at his win ratio. 36%. And this is the guy who took out both Puzzle and Oz.
Hero completely outplayed every opponent he won against, but yes. HerO did well.
Naniwa, MC and Huk have in total won 4 series so far, one of them a PvP. I don't call that Protoss dominance.
While Protoss are doing well in the championship bracket/seeding, look at the bottom of this diagram:
http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/2011_MLG_Pro_Circuit/Providence#Championship_Bracket
There are 2 total Protoss players left in the lower bracket, out of 20 players. Again, Protoss dominance is all in your head.

What is wrong with that? If you want to watch TvT. There are many top level games available in the GSL, AOL and many other Korean Tournaments. And if you want to watch how badly can a protoss die, invite Coca and Forgg. There are three tosses in the semi-final. So what ? None of the three was able to make it deep in Gsl.
Despite winning atm in the MLG, toss fans still have a reason to say at the highest level play, toss is the weakest race simply because they only have Mc can win gsl for them and they were not even close to win a gsl for a long time.

Yeah, MC 2-0 Inori in the ESV Korean Weekly. While I might give the slight edge to Huk, MC still has a decent fighting chance. They're both total bosses!
I've not seen much PvP from Naniwa, but again I would give the edge to Huk here.
EDIT: Also, I just noticed that assuming MVP beats his Terran and Hero beats MVP (MVP having mediocre TvP), then there is a good chance of a Hero vs Nestea match. I think that would be pretty sick!

Given his current GSL hype of being one of the new generation of protosses coming with new builds and strats, I was also expecting to see him up on the main stage.

So by the early going of this thread we are back to the call Protoss OP days? After one tournament that isn't over yet and most of the protoss players having very high seeds >.<
How's about the following:
Let us see how this pans out and after HuK plays more than one series, Nani more than two you can all discuss balance a little more.
The funny thing is, of the protoss who won yesterday in the championship bracket, one of them played a PvP the other two played PvZ.
Idra was one of the Zergs and his ZvPis terrible compared to his other matchups and we all know this and he knows it himself.
Nestea we see very little ZvP out of and who had lost to Naniwa the day before in a BO3.
So before people start calling shenanigans and balance and the such let us apply some logic. Complaining about 3 toss in the winner bracket semi finals is dumb when:
2 of those 3 toss were seeded into the quarter finals of the bracket, one of them into the round prior to QF.
One of the games that put a protoss into the CB Semi Finals was a PvP. There would always be at least one toss. Naniwa played well in one series, MC played well in two series.
Lets also not ignore the 16 players that need to play in the lower bracket too
So please stop with the balance whines without even a shred of reason behind them
|
I remember one MLG when there were 4 Terrans in Top 6 and the balance whine which was followed by it... Let's see what hypocrites will have to say after this MLG, where protosses beat the shit out of all zergs and terrans lol.

Lower bracket needs a hero today to keep MLG exciting, just can't get enthusiastic about so much potential PvP and the seeding format really felt deflating to me yesterday when the guys who made great runs started getting edged out.
If the winner really does end up being someone who played 4 series I'll be super depressed.

It's not possible for a TvT finals AFAIK, As one of DRG/HuK/Nani/MC will make the finals

About the lower bracket, it's not even interesting to comment... You have no names fighting against pro players, but overall, in the winner bracket protoss are doing just as good as everybody (out of 74 protoss, 2 get to the final of the open bracket, HerO and State, out of 68 terran only one, MvP, and out of 93 zerg, 5 got into the final).
Naniwa with 11% win loss ratio in GSL arguing that Nestea is not good and then winning against him... is not "impressive".
