If MKP or Huk would have been the best, they would have tons of fans. It is a bit weird, he is always well-spoken, doesn't cheat and don't cheese, he is pure talent, but still, as he said himself, he doesn't have many fans.
He definitely has fans, judging by this thread alone, but there's maybe a bunch of reasons why he isn't the most popular with the fans.
First of all, he is the best. He'll get huge respect for that, definitely, but people like underdogs. People also don't like to see the same person win everything.
Secondly, he doesn't show emotion. I actually quite like that, because it's very professional and it means he can keep calm and not play on tilt. However, that lack of emotion doesn't translate well to fans. Fans like when you can see how much a win / loss means to a player.
I think it's the same in any sport, really.
I do think MVP has a huge amount of respect though. I'm a Protoss fanboy but I'll openly admit MVP is a fantastic player. You don't get that good by just being lucky.
I'd like to add, that Flash (the greatest RTS gamer in history) also went through the same things as MVP. During his reign, when no one could beat him, people were actually joking he might destroy e-sports because of how boring the scene had become. It's the same thing with MVP.
The difference with Flash and MVP (apart from Flash being an RTS genius) is that people universally acknowledge Flash to be the greatest player of his era, and arguably the greatest BW player ever (and some would argue, like me, that he's the greatest RTS player in history).
As you can see in this thread, there are people who think MVP isn't even the best T in the world. Huge difference. It's a fucking joke, because there's no denying that MVP is the greatest SC2 Terran to date.
Nor has he been as dominant as a guy like Flash. This is why calling someone the best in SC2 right now is silly especially when the lines are just going to continue to blur.
... and the fact that bw and sc2 is two different games. and created by 2 different development teams. Can't really compare mvp to flash because this simple reason... but right now I do think mvp is best sc2 player yes
The old two different games argument. Great.
Until MVP dominates every frigging thing he enters for over a year then maybe I'll start giving him a special label.
The fact of the matter is you have to dominate. Everything. No wrinkles in the armor and right now he has many. Namely his TvP.
He is not immortal; he doesn't look invisible. Many pros can win.
Right now calling anyone the best in SC2 is as I said. Absurd because you have so very little to go on.
Well your inferring that me saying mvp is probably the best means dominant like flash... I do believe mvp can be beat by any pro sc2 player on any given day, but hes the most well rounded mechanically strategically and result wise so far, so about as dominant as we've seen so far in sc2 so far. I only say bw vs sc2 because I believe theres more depth for bw pro to gain edges to get more consistent wins then sc2 so i believe getting a flash level dominance is impossible in sc2 atm until expansion comes out which I said
Man, remember when some 15/16 year old Korean kid with great game sense and solid play had a meteoric and unparalleled rise in BW, even while he was completing school? Maybe a year from now the zerg prince will become the zerg king.

Catz has been doing that for a while on his stream. It works only if the terran is too stupid to not get ghosts.
If the terran gets ghosts then he wins. MVP was pretty stupid not to get ghosts that game.
You can't get enough Ghosts if you're meching that heavy ..... MVp had what 1 Rax. You need at least 6-7 to get enough Ghosts out and without upgrades they die superfast to Broodlings.
Ya I have no idea as gm lvl player what I would have done differently. I might spend the next few nights in cold sweats trying to figure out how to beat that
Demuslim has been using Ghost + Mech vs zerg for a while now, so I'm sure there's a way to incorporate them, pretty sure only 4 or so rax with tech labs would work.
This only works if you're able to get 4+ bases going safely. Leenock was actually pushing and not turtling like a lot of foreign zergs. There was really no time at all for MVP to transition.
I hope the semi/final games get recast. The games seem very high quality and a lot of the action is being missed. Good to see such high level games being played at foreigner venue though.

I know, right? It should be clear that there's a problem when you see that EVERY Terran/Toss picks XNC vs Zerg if it's available. Like almost 100% of the time.
Every zerg picks meta when it's available, what's your point? Besides, Dual Site is just as bad for terran as Xel Naga is for zerg.
On TLPD...
Dual sight is 56% for Terran in TvZ. Xel'naga is ~ 56% for Terran in TvZ.
