In this case Tester basically had complete information: the only possible way for JYP to come back into the game was for Tester to make a giant error. The easiest way of "forcing" a giant error is to make DTs. Tester was well aware of this and built a cannon in his base. Yet, instead of playing it safe, he went ahead and made the giant error anyway by moving out without detection. The crux of my comparison with chess wasn't that the games are the same, but that in both games you can lose due to a giant error, despite being (quite far) ahead. It's your right to not like that kind of game and say that the punishment for the error is too large, but saying that it makes it a "bad game" is, imho, an untenable position, because almost all the classic games play like this (including BW). Complete or incomplete information makes a hell of a difference in this case. Having known this would be a basetrade with DT's behind would've changed the situation completely. Tester made the mistake thinking JYP's Stalkers were heading home to defend his imminent aggression, which wasn't the case. Having had the information that the stalkers were hiding near the natural third spot would've surely changed testers decision to move out in the first place. DT's is one possible solution to the situation that JYP was in, but he could also not play well and having had an expansion or something. Having to assume stuff isn't the same as knowing it. I don't know BW much, but afaik stealth wasn't as big a deal, since detection was a lot more available.

Otherwise we just have to accept that SC2 is a 2 or sometimes even 1 race video game and protoss is the "rare and exotic" race. It probably doesn't matter, either the Marineball is in position and your Immortal won't get shots off, or the Immortal gets to the tanks and manages to attack them. Maybe the Guardian Shield fix against Siege Tanks helps a bit, but I really doubt it.
