Wtf has idra won.. ever? I mean yeah he won an early MLG (before koreans and europeans even attended) and that all american 16 player invite tournament.. but that's it. Winning this and assembly makes ret a bigger player in terms of accomplishment, but he's also a whole lot better just looking at performance right now.

is winning really the only significant thing?

How else are you gonna measure success? Losing?

Yes placing second is really losing. Get a reality check mate

Should Naniwa get a reality check too?

He didn't look like the guy who just won.

You make him sound like his the incarnation of some sun God. Maybe he is indeed to hard on himself? Actually Naniwa already thinks high of himself, he is just a bit sad he did not place first, but really, he is a winner and Im sure he knows this as well.

What about MarineKing then? He seems to be taking it rather hard as well.

Maybe you need to reconsider your stance on that.

Yes, second place is a good ranking for an up and coming player, and such a player will be reasonably happy about placing second in a big tournament. And even that's not always the case, as we've seen with MMA in the super tournament.

For people who want to and are expected to win trophies? No fucking way. Not even close. They feel awful, and it's normal that they do. In some ways it's the worst ranking they can get.

yes then they need a reality check

Just because you are not motivated in the thing you do and are happy with a 2nd place does not mean someone else needs a reality check. Some people just want to get the most out of themselves and be the best at something. Some people have ambition and will do anything to reach their goal. Please don't post such stupid things.

Are you telling me that you are not motivated if you are happy with a second place, whilst aiming for first?

Consistency. Learn it, Read it, Love it. It will get you somewhere

He won Winter Assembly and has also had pretty good showings at every MLG this season, as well as having a great NASL season. Ret hasn't played in that much, but you can't call him inconsistent. o.o

I feel like Ret always has been a very mood dependent player and sometimes lose focus for extended periods of times and therefore drop in skill level. I think thats why some people call him inconsistent.

Sen has never won any major tourney. His highest rank was #3 at NASL. The last time IdrA won was IPL with full of NA players, and we all know that NA server is just the playground of IdrA, SeleCT and Kiwi. DiMaGa and Ret are the only true best zerg players from my perspective.

IdrA fans need to back off a lil bit lol

Sen should have beaten MC and beat July in a manly fashion in NASL.
IdrA ranked higher than Ret in every mlg (and 2-0 ret in columbus), in hsc3, and currently is placed better than ret in IPL2. And he just qualified for IEM.

Ret is clearly korean too, considering he lived there for a while.

Of course Ret's korean, why are we even discussing this?

Yes? If you aim for the top and fail you should be sad/mad. It has happened many times for naniwa these last 6 months so i understand him being sad after coming short at the finish line every time. Do people in hockey / football look happy when they loose the finals?

I wouldn't take anything away from Nerchio. He is very young, he doesn't have any stage experience, it was really hard for him to concentrate and play his 100%. You can clearly see that he prefers playing online events in his house without pressure.

Agreed, he played very well for a first timer, I'd have come out much worse if I was in his shoes. Congrats to him and how he will progress from here on, must be proud to be representing locally.

Well, he sometimes makes very sloppy mistakes, especially with unit control, but that happened this tournament as well.

He's been to a lot of tournaments???? WHAT. All he does is MLG and IPL. What tournaments does he go to???????

Homestory, dreamhack, every MLG? Notable performances in none of them.

He won MLG DC and got 4th at MLG Columbus.

DC was quite a bit ago cmon, ret won assembly last winter but that doesnt tell us about his shape now?

He's the one who brought up every MLG.

I think winning one is a notable performance.

4th place isn't something to sneeze at either, considering the top 3 were Koreans and this thread is talking about foreigners.

not sure what to answer, so you think that to see how good a player is now we should look at all the results they had? that's nonsense currently players like dimaga and ret step it up winning in very hard competitions vs top players , if Idra does the same he can be considered again among the best no problem;) not saying he's bad by any means , just saying that right now he's not equal with other top zergs

In this particular conversation I'm not even discussing "how good is IdrA?"

I'm correcting an incorrect statement:

Homestory, dreamhack, every MLG? Notable performances in none of them.

This statement simply isn't true. It's factually false.

ye he had a top 4 two MLGs ago, gratz

You're completely clueless, gratz.
top 12 at anaheim? :S am i missing something as of late?

In summary:

darlhet: The world is flat!
Me: Actually, the world is a sphere.
darlhet: IdrA isn't nearly as good as Ret!
Me: I didn't say he was.
darlhet: Am I missing something?????

Of course Ret's korean, why are we even discussing this?

Yup, Koreanism is contagious, you spend some time playing Starcraft there and it's done man.

But that would make Artosis Korean as well, and that just doesn't work out well.
