The open bracket winner earning a spot in the finals isn't a bad idea. In fact, it's a great idea for the pro gamers that did not manage to apply for the regular season either due to lack of time (due to other gaming events, commitments outside of gaming, personal problems, and so on) or because of lack of information regarding these events (they could not have known about NASL until the last minute). Despite the fact that they don't get to play over the course of a few months, they are in a higher risk, higher reward position with the fact that they can lose everything in just 2 bad sets. It's both a gamble and a test of skill, as well as endurance.

Well actually they're replying to the "if it's easy you should do it". People aren't saying it's easy; MechKing is just saying that using that argument is stupid. He even said that it isn't easy but that it's unfair. Stop trying to force the argument into something its not.

Omfg, where did I EVER say that winning the open bracket was easy? I think the winner should get something like $1,000 and gets to be in the second season. THAT would be a fair prize. Flying them over to compete in a tournament where they weren't even part of, for a chance at $50,000 is absurd. They should get something for going through the open bracket, but I don't think that this was the right reward.

In the end, we all want to see the best players playing their best games at a tournament like this. Puma and MC gave us a completely epic series, and puma deserved the win in the end. He outplayed literally everyone at the tournament, and deserves the win. The fact that someone from the open won the tournament isn't a result of a bad tournament system, it's the result of an invite system where NA/EU/fan favourite players were invited over people with the actual skill. Not to sound harsh, but over 50-70% of the NASL season participants never stood a chance in the finals (no, not even ret). There is a huge quality gap between top tier players (both korean and non-korean) and the rest of the NASL.

I can understand, however, that some people are annoyed (and were annoyed BEFORE Puma won, this isn't retroactive hate) that NASL decided to have a 3 month super tournament slug-fest, then invite 2 people to the FINALS who played for a day. Puma won fair and square, nobody's bashing him. As tournament viewers we want to see the person who's CONSISTENTLY best take the win. It feels odd having Puma take the win with so many fewer games played/won than the people who played in the league (and helped generate the revenue for the tournament) for 9 weeks of games.

The dude's handle is Temp0_SC, and you can check his youtube channel out, or hang around his twitter page. If the song isn't up on youtube, it could be because he hasn't uploaded it yet. And yes, those were excellent performances, despite all the other nerds having negative comments about it here.

So its fair that MC, who lost 3 games in the regular season goes to the finals because he was playing for 9 weeks? And HasuObs who barely went above .500 at 5-4 deserves his spot in the finals more than Puma who goes undefeated in the open bracket. Im sorry, but thats bullshit. Puma deserved his spot and his win shows it.

I think it's an excellent (yes, I did) opportunity for new and upcoming players to get a shot at the finals even though they might not have been invited/qualified for the league 2 months earlier (Puma and ThorZain are two great examples who had their breakthroughs after the invitation process). And to be fair the players that played through the league and didn't make it past the ro16 would probably not have won the open tournament either. I think the real problem people are having is that the whole 10 week group stage is just not well thought out. The vast majority of the people in the group stage didn't have a chance at winning, and the best player spent far less time than they did in nasl. There wasn't even a hype video for puma. It's just a really poorly thought out league in general.

NASL lasted three months, and all the players put a ton of time into preparing for their games and playing them. PuMa just came in one day won an open tourney and stole it from everyone else that played their games for 3 months. Don't get me wrong I'm glad for him, but it just seems a little unfair but it's whatever. Unfair? Why should time and effort put into it matter? PuMa was obviously the most skilled one, therefore it's perfectly fair that he wins the entire thing, especially since the invited players didn't have to qualify and were biasedly picked. It would've been one thing if he had been thrown into the finals, but considering that he went a much harder path I really can't see how it's unfair.

The only thing wrong with it that I can see is the seeding but there's no question in my mind that he didn't earn the spot in the finals. I want to see the best players play and not all of the best players got invited to the league. It's really more unfair to say Thorzain who didn't get invited even tho he applied because he wasn't famous enough at the time and then his only chance was to fight through 256 players in a single elimination format for 1 spot instead of getting to prepare for each match 1 week in advance while only having to compete with 50 players about 15 spots. See the argument works the other way around too.

He was the only one who didnt get invited. He definately won more Games then anybody else in a shorter period of time. I guess u people are just Mad because your favourite Player was smart enough to go allin in the deciding Game 7.

It was a little funky how they had an open tourney immediately followed by another qualifier. And I agree, every player should have to survive the meatgrinder that is the regular season.
