This apologism is incredibly damaging. The problems are objective fact, there's no getting around it. People are upset because they waited 2 hours for a very hyped up event with some great players and thus far it's been a disappointment. One of the many rules of the internet is "someone will defend it", but it's a very unreasonable and unhelpful stand-point to take. Taking responsibility for their errors, learning from it and building a better tournament next time around is the way to go. This! And. Happy B'day TotalBiscuit!! :D

Does anyone else think it was silly putting the rank 1 NASL player vs the guy who won the nasl open thing? I would have thought that the nasl open winner would be vs the lowest ranked league player??? am i wrong?

The delay in schedule and the audio issues... I can live with that. It is quite normal for it to be some problems the first day of production, especially in a new tournament. These two issues are most likely fixed tomorrow.
However: what I do not understand is how the organizers could pick these three maps, Xel'Naga Caverns, Crossfire SE and The Shattered Temple. Why on earth would they choose 1v1 player maps for the first two games?
Just look at the first match - Ret had been dominating the group play and once he gets to the finals he has to play two maps which does not at all favor his style of play. He is out of the tournament in less than 15minutes of play...
How about Tal'Darim Altar and Crevasse? Generally bigger maps favor the better player (oh yes they do).
Does anyone know if these are only for RO16 or if they will there for the rest of the tournament?

A tourney this small needs to be double elimination, especially with the distances some people had to travel. Ret flies from the netherlands to play 14 min? No, Ret flies from the Netherlands for a chance to win $50,000 dollars.
Fixed. Unless he would win place 1 through 16 all for him self.

There is so much shit to notice and talk about but yeah I noticed that and it made me lol. I'll give NASL tomorrow to fix this but they should have put more money and effort into the production. I really feel alot of these issues could have been prevented.

if their match as over 2 hrs late with horrible music playing and lame ass intros it probabllly would have more

On the plus-side: This abysmal production gives them tremendous potential for improvement in the next season. /sarcasm
P.S.: Yes, I know that they're probably working very hard and that producing live can be very stressful and plagued by unforeseeable issues. But given their advertising and their claim of being a professional enterprise that could take e-sports to the next level, I can't shake the feeling that they just bit off far more than they could chew... -.-

Oh that doesn't sound to good. Guess it wasn't so bad I woke up a bit late. Is this a one day tourney or all weekend? I don't see how they can stretch out a 16man single elim. to three days

Yeah, they made mistakes, I'm sure they'll learn. Regardless they brought us a fun tourney with great players and most of us are watching this for free, so what right to complain do we have. criticism is useful but 100 pages of omfg nasl sucks doesnt do any good. (technical problems side, also wish there was a losers bracket though dont see how it could hurt) I dont think Jesus cares, allot of the mistakes were made before, like the sound issues and, obivously, they havn't learned a dammn thing, because, THEY ARE STILL DOING IT. and allot of people actually payed for this crap. I think Jesus might be the only one who could forgive this production quality.
I can forgive the damage they have done to me, but how can i forgive the damage they do to themselves?

Why the fuck do you show the losses?

Honestly I don't see what's up with all the negative comments. Yeah it's not perfect but compare to the first MLG this year. The stream is up and running, games are on, there's previews and interviews and epic-like music and stuff. Cheer up! I for one have my baguette, my cheese, my mustard and a decent bottle of cotes du Rhone. Select fighting!!!
I don't think it's better than any MLGs.
Yeah, the stream may be up, but there were still delays and there's awkwardness, sound issues, buzzing all over. At least when MLG's streams WERE up, they had top notch production.
|
Just joined the stream. Video highlights look epic as fuck. Whats all the bitch fest about?
|
Comparing this to the first MLG, this is so much better. The stream is actually working, minor audio issues that can be easily fixed, no players missing.
I just think people are looking for any reason to criticize NASL just because they've gotten so much crap before.
Relax.. give them some breathing room and some constructive criticism. They are known to respond well to feedback.

The sound transitions are pretty bad. There either really loud and then really quiet, then back to really loud.

Intro's are to long
