nothing to be schocked about. Winning a tourney doesn't mean auto-fanclub.

MKP hasn't won a tourney, shocked that he has so many fans?

And he still does not have a fan club... amazing ^_^

@ the guy above me:

well it is amazing for sure, you should see a pattern about how most people get their fanclub after winning something.

Really deserved, Polt proved to be the stronger player and also had way harder opponents on his way to the finals in my opinion. A bit surprising to see mma lose like this, considering he only had to play TvT the whole tournament.

I would have made Polt a fanclub a week ago, but I'm too lazy to update things. I'm sure whenever Polt gets someone to make him a FC, he'll have a hefty amount of members.

At least now I think we can say that the top four terrans in the world at the moment are MVP, Bomber, MarineKing and Polt. MMA, TOP and SC right below them.

Polt may have won respect for winning the super tournament, but that's not the same thing as winning the love and adoration of fans. Polt played well, but until he plays inspirationally he won't have a particularly large fanbase. Nestea was the consensus best Korean Zerg ever since GSL2, but it wasn't until his jawdropping, nerdchilling series against anypro and sC that he became hyper popular. In fact Nestea's fanclub was only made after that semifinal against sC iirc.

I thought Polt won over many people today with his "balls of steel" play in set2. His marine micro while in the face of siege tank fire was amazing. Even Tastosis was blown away by it. His play earned him the nickname of Daredevil terran. However, there will always been a large number of Polt haters, many of them who ignores his tremendous record ever since his loss to Jinro.

We're not taking anything away from Polt or saying he didn't play that well. He played amazing and showed that he is well prepared and had a lot of confident. What we're saying is he needs a "style" and/or epic inspiring games in order to be lovable by more fans in order to gain a fan base. And no, "nice micro" isn't really a good trait unless it is a jaw droping micro that no one has ever seen (like how MKP showed the marine micro against banelings that no one knew is possible at that time).

Lets look at the fan favourties:

Fruitdealer: First to use banelings so creatively, risky aggressive style, inspiring first season (you guys still remember his game 3 vs OgsTops in season 1?)
MKP: Marine style, jaw-dropping marine micros, inspiring base trade styles (his games vs nada anyone?)
MC: Has a build named after him that involves heavy sentry push. One of the best at Micro.
MVP: Probably has the best game mechanics out of anyone in the game.
Nestea: Reactionary style. Can react and counter everything throne at him. His game vs SC was undoubtedly one of the best games in SC2 history. Just overall very inspirational plays
MMA: Boxer style drop play. Never seen anyone drop as much as him especially in ZvT; sometimes even the observer couldn't follow along. His GSTL wins are no doubt some of the best games and comebacks as well.

So now you look at Polt. He is just someone that has above average in all department, and never make many mistakes. All in all, nothing really special or inspiring. Nothing I can actually think back and say "that was cool and epic!"

His invincibility in TvP is inspiring and his calm mind as well.

MMA didn't play his best and Polt did. It was disappointing that it turned out to be a 4-0 Final. -_-

Except you can't pin point how he is winning all these TvP besides "very solid plays and prepartions" and "without making any mistakes". And this is what I'm saying. I mean you can technically call every accomplishment "inspiring"; winning super tournament is inspiring, sure. But what I was referring is inspiring plays, which he has yet to shown. (not having inspiring plays =/= not having good solid plays and skills tho).

And as for calm mind, a lot of the players have that. A common trait in professional gamers, especially for SC

Except Polt used this build like... once or twice himself back in the first season...and Liquidepida tends to name builds to anyone that first used it. Not really the same as having a whole unique style that you popularized.

I just woke up, and I can't believe what I'm seeing. I've always supported Polt, but I feel that MMA is the better player when it comes to TvT ever since beating MarineKing. How did Polt win this? :O

100,000 dollars

that is so ridiculous... it shits on any other tournament by a large margin (except for the earlier gsls). you'd have to win like 7 dreamhacks in order to get that kind of money
