I'm surprised so many people signed up for a tournament that starts at 1pm on a wednesday. You'd think people would be at work.

Well, the tournament is intended for professional players...?

The NASL isn't designed for people who have jobs... :p

Stacked seeds in an "open" tourney determined by fuck knows what method, compulsatory "buy in" in an open tournament, mandatory check in that the admins don't check in on...

NASL, why are you being so goddamn difficult to love?
I went from bronze to platinum in 3 awesome days.

Why is the travel stipend so small. A round trip for me would be like 700. With the current amount of signups thats 1300$, if it was about people showing up, why not make it a deposit, refunded if you participate.

Make it Reign!

Refunding 500 people a $10 deposit is annoying as fuck.

very true, but even so, if your end goal is simply to make players accountable why not pay their ticket + hotel while at the event, the money u collect from this is more than enough for that :O

Easier method: take all the buy-in money and return it as prize money.

What mandatory checkin that admins don't check in on... tournament doesn't start until Wednesday. Not sure why you showed up to the Ro1,024 when only 160 or so people are signed up. Seems much more logical to show up for the Ro256 :p

We might be changing things around to have more benefits / accommodations to players in Season 2.

I noticed a bunch of Koreans signed up with names in Korean. Hopefully someone is working to fix that, as it would be bad to screw them over because they probably did not understand what they were supposed to enter into the field.

I signed up because I am off until Thursday and had a solid few days open. So check-in is wednesday at 1pm, and will I be expected to play right then, or can arrangements be made to play a few hours after? Sadly I have work until 4:30PM PST on Thursday.

BTW, your comment about this tournament being designed for those without jobs is completely laughable. Sorry for trying to support myself while attempting to play SC2. I guess it is time to let everyone know I can't work because I want to attempt to become a competitive SC2 player.

Well, usually NASL games are played during hours when people in the USA/Canada would normally be at work. I don't see how it is laughable... it's realistic. This league isn't structured around people who have full time commitments outside of Starcraft. Very few pro gamers are in school full time, or work full time. I'd wager that a large majority of "pro" SC2 players sustain their living through coaching.

Players like Qxc (full time student) and Stalife (has a job + plays professionally) are HUGE exceptions to the rule.

So to answer your question: the matches start at 1pm. Since we're playing both Ro64 and Ro32 on the same day, it is very unlikely that you'll have time to postpone your match by 3.5 hours.

You said you talked to Slayers and IM, but 0 players from those teams signed up for the open tournament... Are they really passing off an opportunity for 50k? (and qualification for next season)

They signed up for the NSQ, and IM never responded. However, I'm getting a friend of mine to translate a letter in Korean so I can send it to them =D

I did some googling on their names and if they have the same names as in korean then here are the links to their battle.net profiles:

http://kr.battle.net/sc2/ko/profile/964877/1/스타테일바이러스/

http://kr.battle.net/sc2/ko/profile/923636/1/스타테일에이쓰/

One of them seems to be a random high-ranked master player (would be funny if he owned the nonkorean pros) while the other one is ranked 48 in grandmaster leugue so he might be famous if someone can translate his name.

Edit: Found a third korean aswell, link to his profile:

http://kr.battle.net/sc2/ko/profile/101925/1/스타테일레인보우/

Seems to be very good aswell wonder who he is

It's Ace, RainbOw, and Virus... Ace (already seeded into NASL Season 2), and Rainbow (can play in the Season 2 Qualifier) can't play in the open though.
