We will be moderating harshly in this thread. Think twice before you post. Things we are watching for: image macros, balance whining, "eagles", player bashing etc. We encourage civil and reasoned critique of our moderation - please post it in the website feedback forum. Please don't complain about MLG stream quality or MLG itself. They work very hard to provide you with an enjoyable service. Enough with the racism discussions, this is a LR Thread. Cut it out. -- updated 7:55 KST

Every single LAN tournament outside of Dreamhack Winter that atleast one Korean participated in was won by a Korean, (and in the case of IEM the 3 Koreans there went 1, 2, 3; and in the case of MLG out of the 5 Koreans there they went 1, 2, 3), and AFAIK every online tournament outside of TSL that at least one Korean has participated in has been won by a Korean. Also, look at NASL results... Moon: tied for 2nd in his group Rainbow: failing -.- July: 1st in his group Ensnare: -.- Squirtle: 1st in his group Nada: tied for 2nd in his group Ace: tied for 2nd in his group MC: -.- BoxeR: tied for 1st in his group Zenio: tied for 2nd in his group That's only 3 -.-'s! (lol), everyone else is either 1st or 2nd in their group. I honestly don't know how people are still thinking that Foreigners are on the same level as Koreans anymore. Come on people. The only real argument those people had for a long time was the Korea vs the World GSL... not only was that almost 2/3 months ago now, but that was just the team league. Now I could go into great detail about how Team Leagues allow lesser players to beat blah blah blah sniping blah blah blah preparation blah. But just look at the individual tournament, every single Foreigner lost to the first Korean they faced except for the GOD THAT IS DIMAGA. Well anyways, this MLG was awesome. Also idra > MC at first. Oh, and lets not forget about the ENTIRE TSL TOURNAMENT. That was more recent than 3 months ago, it was NOT a team league, but rather a single elimination tournament setup, and the Koreans seemed to not take it seriously, and quickly dropped out. This MLG was great. It contained some great players - clearly top Koreans. Any of these players could be expected to do very well in GSL code S, and happened to do very well in MLG. I'm not at all surprised, and I can't wait to see which koreans will be invited to Anaheim. I'm thinking Bomber will get an invite, since he couldn't come this time around.

Wonder if I'm the first one to break that number as a Korean gamer? Anyway I would like to give thanks to Milkies, Moon, Fox coach, July, Losira, MMA, Chae, Trevor, and Rachel. You guys worked so hard, and I worked hard as well ^^. I will try to win in Gigabyte Tournament.... If I ever come back to play in MLG, I will try to be #1 in pool play.. =_= Played soo much game when I came second.. Kinda wished if I was ahead of the build at least in one game vs Losira T.T. I was already 3 games behind in metagame? (psychologically)... As I was a watching the finals.. MMA's medivacs are quite overpowered.. Ugh.. Sooo tiredddd. Congrats to MMA, Losira.. It was an awesome tourney, and I made lots of great memories here in MLG.. I'm kinda worried though.. As soon as I get to Korea.. I have to get ready to go to China.. Personally I wanted to face MMA.. T.T Thanks, you're awesome! Fun to know he had a good time... I also wish he could've made it to the finals. Oh well, it was amazing anyway!

Regarding the psychological metagame, since MC played so many PvZs, his PvZ strats are already exposed and that hydra play just hard countered the stargate play. I'm sure it's not possible but an extra day for the final games would have been nice. Idra really really should have taken advantage of the fact that he played less games.

MC took it to another level, sure, bbut MMA's ceremony was more excellent then anything done by a EU/NA player. To say foreigners can't compete is ridiculous. Idra did pretty good, more than most expected, and if he stepped up a little a top 3 finish is not unlikely. So did thorzain, and maybe if jinro/huk came, he would too. Why can't the rest be as good as them? I'm looking at the vast horde of in-betweeners in the pools. To me they seem to dedicate a lot of time into SC2, but perhaps they are doing something else at the same time. You can't have it both ways unless you're nada or boxer. Don't want to go to korea to practice because you don't like korean culture and you feel you can make more in NA? Well, as you can see, that's going to change.

Out of the hundreds of people that I know...I am pretty sure I am the only uber sc2 nerd who watches professional sc2 games. I think having a head coaching coordinating all the training routine an priorities will boost the western scene greatly, purely playing mass game (ladder or custom) does not a great player make. Btw, am I the only one who is really impressed with Moon? I did think he will be in the top 16.

Lets not forget though, that playing the least games comes as a result of winning the most games to start with. It's a nice way to reward the players who do the best. It does cause some problems with turnover I'll admit. I mean really, of all the players I wanted to see seeded into pool play, incontrol was not one of them. Sorry. How did he get there anyway? Also, I think a lot of the appeal of MLG, especially for those who are viewing live instead of on steam, is that they can make it a weekend long trip of nerdiness, then get back to real life on monday. I think my only wish for the tournament would have been for them to stream some open bracket games or even highlight reels, score updates, or restream past games during the downtime. Endless adds, twenty minutes of watching the crowd, or even worse the black screen where I wasn't sure if my stream had crashed got OLD. Get some more casters, and have a game always going on at least one of the two streams.

July had the unfortunate luck of facing another Korean earlier than the others, specifically Moon, which meant he was playing his weakest matchup ZvZ. Koreans were only knocked out by other Koreans.

The people who get to go and train full time are very much the privledged minority in the western scene, It's slightly higher if you count those that make money coaching but for the most part very few actually have the star-power to get paid a decent salary to train full-time. Fewer still have teams that are willing to send them to korean full time to participate in month long tournaments. MLG's prizepool now is basically $1,000 and that's if you're as good as idra, that's a rough rough way to make a career.
