We will be moderating harshly in this thread. Think twice before you post. Things we are watching for: image macros, balance whining, "eagles", player bashing etc. We encourage civil and reasoned critique of our moderation - please post it in the website feedback forum.
Please don't complain about MLG stream quality or MLG itself. They work very hard to provide you with an enjoyable service.
Enough with the racism discussions, this is a LR Thread. Cut it out. -- updated 7:55 KST |

It's going to take more tournaments such as this to continue to grow. For several reasons. Koreans continue to keep skill level high -> high level players = high level games -> really fucking awesome games to watch -> more people watching -> more revenue -> bigger events -> more revenue -> bigger events -> bigger prize pools -> more competition meaning more players. its obvious that it's the growth of the sc2 sport. and as that continues so will prize pools and sponsorships, corporate backings ie. feasible to make a living playing sc2. once we have this base established, foreign players can play sc2 full time and compete.
tl:dr, koreans coming is good for the sport. don't be a narrow minded tit

Last time I checked, at the end everyone in the SC2 section was chanting MMA, MMA.
Likewise, Losira and JulyZerg got great receptions as well. Don't try to tell me otherwise. I heard it myself.

I have 0 respect for any foreigner pro who gets discouraged by the results of this tournament.
Although Koreans swept the top 3 spots, many foreigners still took series off of them. This should be a driving force for foreigners to work even harder so they can give the next 4 Korean invites a run for their money.
Besides, MMA, MC, and Losira are considered to all be in the top 3 of their respective races in Korea and, most likely, the world. It is no suprise that they took the top 3 spots. Moon and July are legends in their own right and I don't think anyone expected them to finish lower than what they place.
That being said, MLG will seperate the wheat from chafe. Discouraged foreign pros clearly don't care for this game or eSports and we will see who the true ambassadors of the foreign scene will be in the months to come. Names like Naniwa, Sjow, Slush, Idra.
Assimilating the Korean and foreign scene will greatly benefit eSports. Hopefully, a foreigner will win Anaheim and that will make more Koreans want to compete and further improve eSports.

MMA/Losira were more entertaining then the great white hope all 3 days long. MC took it to another level, sure, bbut MMA's ceremony was more excellent then anything done by a EU/NA player.

It's their first time overseas, there's no telling whether or not they'll do well in other MLG tournaments. Everything needs time, many NA/EU players had close matches with them. What reasons do we have to think otherwise?
Every single LAN tournament outside of Dreamhack Winter that atleast one Korean participated in was won by a Korean, (and in the case of IEM the 3 Koreans there went 1, 2, 3; and in the case of MLG out of the 5 Koreans there they went 1, 2, 3), and AFAIK every online tournament outside of TSL that at least one Korean has participated in has been won by a Korean. Also, look at NASL results...
Moon: tied for 2nd in his group Rainbow: failing -.- July: 1st in his group Ensnare: -.- Squirtle: 1st in his group Nada: tied for 2nd in his group Ace: tied for 2nd in his group MC: -.- BoxeR: tied for 1st in his group Zenio: tied for 2nd in his group
That's only 3 -.-'s! (lol), everyone else is either 1st or 2nd in their group.
I honestly don't know how people are still thinking that Foreigners are on the same level as Koreans anymore. Come on people. The only real argument those people had for a long time was the Korea vs the World GSL... not only was that almost 2/3 months ago now, but that was just the team league. Now I could go into great detail about how Team Leagues allow lesser players to beat blah blah blah sniping blah blah blah preparation blah. But just look at the individual tournament, every single Foreigner lost to the first Korean they faced except for the GOD THAT IS DIMAGA.
Well anyways, this MLG was awesome.

To people to complain about Koreans winning. Do you want to close the doors of foreigners scene like what my country did?

I said this before and I said it again,
This should rally us to come together to put forth better efforts. Positive attitudes will always win out.
It's a rallying cry for other pro gamers to say, 'not in our house' and do the time to make sure they are well prepared the next time they run into any Korean so to speak.

Somebody translate please please please <3 i think the first is like he's sorry for only coming 3rd, cause a lot of people worked hard to get him to MLG 2nd looks like complaining about the extended rule, but i dunno, did MC even lose one? i know he played one against thorzain, but he won that. or maybe against idra? but he won that too. 3rd one again i think sorry for not winning the tournament, maybe ogs members were expecting it and were preparing a celebration. man google translate relaly sucks lol
1st one talks about his followers exceeding 10k ppl and he looks happy about that lol. Thanks to every ppl that helped him out in the tournament. Next tournament in Gigabyte, he wants to win.
2nd - Next time he comes to mlg, he says he must get no.1 in pool league because 2nd place was very tiring and it affected his games against losira. Also wathing MMA play in the finals made Terran look like op with that medivac play, also saying it looks very tiring (to perform that kind of play or to block that? i don't quite know)
3rd - Very tired, congrats to mma and losira, he had mad fun this tournament but he's worried about going back since he has to go to china right away (very tiring). He really wanted to be in finals againts MMA.

He's talking about how he's happy about finally having over 10,000 followers on his twitter, and thanking a bunch of people (including Moon and the FOX coach) for translating. He also says he definitely wants to finish 1st in his pool if he comes back because he was worn out after getting 2nd in his group and playing so many games.
He also congratulates MMA and says that he's made good memories from this tournament. He has to go back to Korea then to China, so he isn't looking forward to all that traveling and he mentions having wanted to play MMA in the final and regrets not getting that far.

No. The Korean fans embraced Jinro, got behind him, and even rooted for him against other Koreans.
It would be awesome if others could do the same. You're missing the point. The potential fall out of continuing Korean domination is the discouragement it could cause to the foreign players. If they feel they don't have a chance then why play the game at a professional level at all? The skill between the foreigners/Koreans isn't really that close. Look at the domination of the Koreans that came over. 3 out of the top 4 spots with the one Korean being knocked out by one of his countryman. Think of what the top 8 would of looked like if MKP, MVP, Bomber, and Nestea showed up. The best foreign players (small number) are equal at best with mid-tier Koreans. The infrastructure is not there for most of these non-Koreans to mirror Koreans and I don't think it will be built. If they don't want to play anymore because the Koreans are stomping them then that's their own fault. Like seriously? We're going to blame the Koreans for being good? If foreigners don't want to step up their game and train like a Korean pro gamer does, then they don't deserve to win anything. I think the idea is that you can't "punish" players in the foreigner's scene because it's already such a small scene that it could easily disappear if you pressed them harder. Yeah, it'd be great if some foreigners rose to the challenge but at this point they lack a lot of the infrastructure needed and the money isn't there to build them. I mean, leagues like NASL and IPL are a good start but it's obvious the foreigner's scene is still mostly an amateur's scene. Foreigners simply do not feel, in general, that eSports is a great career choice at this point. Building a scene is both carrot AND stick. You can't just have a stick. +1
Ok. So we're basically accepting the fact that we want foreigners to become the best without sacrificing anything for it? Hell if I could play 1 or 2 hours a day and spend the rest of my time at the beach and still be able to beat Nestea or Mvp, etc. I'd gladly go pro.
