25%? how did you come up with this number?
There's 4 people in semifinals and only 1 of them is MVP?
MVP must have really gotten lucky then to win so many titles this year

Well he's 1/4 of the players remaining. Even though we all know he's the clear favorite.

try to comprehend this ppl who try to discredit Kas. he gets way too little recognition.
Kas also beat Polt 2-1 @ IMBAlonian Star Cup #7
and he beat ThorZaiN 2-0 during EG Masters Cup
true that. not many people have any emotional attachment to kas. kinda ridiculous that he doesn't get the recognition he deserves for such reasons even after such strong showings when other people get praised to heavens even when doing badly. basically as i see here all non-europeans think he is an online hero, hasn't proved anything, not a true good player etc etc.
about polt: his skill is ridiculously good. miles above titan and xigua. but he is not generally solid- he tends to fuck up for no apparent reason. result is the same i know...

4 Semi-finalists.
1 Korean.
25%
That only works if the 4 players are equally skilled. They're not, so it's actually 100% mvp for gold.
To be honest nationalistic bias when it comes to a live cast in the same country to warm up the crowd that came to the venue is far more acceptable than player bias like the one of artosis who would just shit on one player all game long for no other reason than his simple taste and rather talk about the players he likes even when they aren't playing in the game he is supposed to cast.

25% is optimistic.. starcraft isn't a coin flip and mvp is really good
i do hope a foreigner wins it though, it'll change the perception of a lot of people and make the scene more exciting. i hope titan wins it, i hadn't even heard of the guy and he came 3rd in the russian qualifiers.. get around him!

mvp is not equal with the others in term of skills. I think he got 94% of winning, each of those three has 2% hope mvp takes this, or sc2 may become a laughing stock in korea

More like.. there's 4 players remaining.. one of them is MVP Leenock is not included...

Kind of proud as a European how the tournament went, you might say europe had the most participants, but most of them arent worth mentioning at all. Topplayers from each region are missing and europe does well. gj!
Top contenders all around were missing, but the chinese have been stomping more than the europeans overall.
Oh thats certainly true. Im still quite proud
And yeah, im kind of used to see China AND Korea in another world/league from wc3 back then, so it doesnt surprise me at all - especially when we see Sky/Infi/Fly/TH000 making the switch.
MacSed for example was a midlvl chinese human compared to the other chinese players... prolly rank 10 in china. and hes pretty damn good already
It depends on where the money goes after this WCG. If WC3 is not a WCG game beyond this year, then yes the whole structure would shifte in China. It also depends how XiGua does in Semis. Pj was never a big draw at home, let's see if the up and coming XiGua can draw.

SC2 may have all the money in esports right now, but it has such a long way to go as a competitive title. You can see how much more mature WC3 is in comparison--though obviously maturity should be expected from a dying game.
Well, you have to take into concideration that a) you arent used to see highlvl wc3 as often anymore, therefore you are more excited and happy b) Wc3 is much more developed then sc2 is currently, its just like with BW, BW games are for some people more exciting as well.
Yes, you're 100% correct. We're making the same point though.
SC2 is obviously, obviously underdeveloped compared to BW, but watching WC3 again was also an eye-opening reminder that, even though SC2 is full of money, it's also underdeveloped compared to many other games, WC3 included.
The casting of WC 3 helps a lot. Apollo is an excellent WC 3 caster - the Tastosis or Day9 of WC 3, if you will, and he drops knowledge bombs like no tomorrow that make you appreciate the game. If it wasn't Apollo casting people would probably be like "wtf is going on on my screen? gg what?"

Sad to see KR fail so hard
With only 3 representatives...... it's hard for them to win it all. KR needed like 6 or 7 ppl representing
These KR are top level, they are way beyond the competition, and certainly way beyond the people they lost to, maybe excepting Kas. Losing like this is a failure.
especially since its in korea, not like most other confrontations between korea and foreigners.
I think people are treating SC 2 like BW still. They think that the edge that Koreans have in SC 2 is so insurmountable that if they send 3 players to a tournament they'll get top 3. That's not the case, and this WCG just showed it.
I'd agree with you if these players were Killer, Fruitdealer, and TOP. These are top terrans, on a top tier even by GSL standards. It's not just random Code A terrans.
Completely disagree with the assertion that Supernova and MKP are top Terrans. They can be frightening on their best days, but are horribly inconsistent. Mvp is a top Terran and he will still probably win the tournament.
Umm, besides his loss to Titan, Supernova has been doing pretty consistently well for the past two months. He lost a close game to Virus, and then a stupid cheese vs cheese to Jjakji in Code S this season, and then proceeded to 6-0 back to Code S. Supernova has been playing very well.

If you think China won't hold a War3 tournament during the WCG (even if it's not an official WCG game next year) when the next two WCGs are held in China ... hahaha.
Actually, I think I am ok with a foreigner winning WCG.maybe that will hurt the Korean pride enough so that they focus 100% of their efforts in being so ahead of the foreigners that something like this will never happen.
On December 10 2011 14:06 ugapa wrote: same reaction would have happened if the chinese won right?
No fucking way
But the kind of national passion they demonstrate is why Koreans do so well in eSports. People elsewhere just don't get it.
Chinese fans are clearly more enthusiastic about WCG than Koreans. If Sky wins it in China, the place will go nuts.
He was talking about the casters. Here on TL, there is a tendency to hold casters to a certain standard of neutrality. I'm just pointing out that this standard isn't respected elsewhere.
Obviously fans are different. Fans will cheer for who they cheer for.
lol I have never seen fans at TL cry about caster's neutrality before when it was in favor of foreigners.
At least OGN casters admitted that they would be biased in favor of Koreans.
