Sad that it had to come to that... but I guess both of them will be in Korea anyways... so they don't have to pay for travel expenses or anything.. huk and idra are going to live there... trainging and why not add another competition

Yes I realize that. But the point I was making is that they unfortunately had to pay $1.5k out of their own pocket (well, EG's pocket) to attend. Which is nonsense. WCG USA couldn't get their shit together and EG had to foot the bill.

They're not paying to get in or anything, they're going to be there during the time anyways.

HuK is playing for Canada tough. He didnt show up for the qualifiers so he could have gone without them paying. But it's good cause Kiwi's there too because of that.

the number of terran player are so small. I guess terran outside of korea is not doing too well

Unless he hits MVP, MarineKing, Morrow, Kas, etc really early in the tourney, he will probably make a profit

Given the already sunk cost of having Huk & Idra in Korea, it's really a question of a "full tournament" for 1.5k each. Which is really no different than adding another Euro tournament. WCG should still have a large exposure, so it should be a good ROI for them. Maybe, depends on how many pools they setup.

Nr. 38 on the list, "wern", has the flag of Namibia next to him. Anyone know anything about him? What server do Africans play on?

Europe, they held qualifiers online via ESL, There are VODs of the final but the level of play is pretty low, I believe he's the only sub-masters player attending.

No nAni, SaSe, HayprO, ThorZaiN for Sweden??? OMG :'(

Looking back on all of this now, the chances of a foreign win at WCG has become a lot higher, especially considering that all Koreans are now not indestructible.

That's only the Sweden Qualifiers. Anyhow, Go IdrA!

MVP 1st, MKP 2nd. Non-Korean 3rd.

Huk actually played in United States qualifier (source: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/World_Cyber_Games_2011/Qualifiers/USA), not the Canadian one, and I also think that he has dual citizenship. Not to mention that he will be getting financial support from EG, and American team.

If it's like most WCGs, coverage will most likely not be up to par with what we're used to from IPL and MLG, but the addition of IdrA and HuK seems a good move. If EG had to foot the bill to make it happen, props to them.

I'm sad that WCG USA didn't really materialize sufficient funds to send individuals to korea...
