I don't get why something like WCG would use a Bo1 format. I mean, I sort of get it, but it just feels like, hey if you can just take one game off a top level guy, you could advance. It just screams "I got lucky, but I advanced"(with all due respect to all the players)

No, because you still have to be top 2 in your group. You need more than one lucky game to get top 2.

I meant just in the games. But if you can pull one game off guys, and it just happens to be the first one, you have an advantage. I just don't like Bo1s, never have when it comes to something like this.

To be honest, the fact that so many good players are practically dead in the water due to the format basically ensures that Mvp wins.

The format evidently isn't a problem for MVP, because he's good enough to handle any format.

Terran is the race least likely to lose to cheese. Ala, the best BO1 race.

Any proof that the upsets occurred due to cheese? And MVP outclassed his opponents by a mile in his group. No way he was dropping a game to anything ever.

I think bo1 would be good format, if we could veto maps, but not being able to veto makes it very random =/

I don't think Bo1 is a huge deal when it comes to groups with 7 people. You have 6 matches to prove yourself. It probably rivals the variance of single elim Bo5's.

Having an off day. It's all it takes to be out of WCG. Listen to Day[9]'s recount of his WCG 05...

F91 and XiGua are bolts from the blue and as a Chinese I feel so happy that finally they get to showcase some skills

Lol, while BO1 by itself does leave space for lucky wins.. whoever advances does deserve it. They won more games, one doesn't lose 2-3 games in a row only because they were "unlucky".

Format is Ok

KilleR is pretty good. Don't try to discredit him.

You guys should be used to IdrA losing a few games here and there by now.

if u are good enough u should just roll lesser opponents like mvp did. losing because of bad luck is an excuse.

Things happen. Plus you have a ton of other factors coming into a Bo1.. like I don't know... MAPS!!!

Best of 1 format is just bad. Playing against different player you can cheese or whatever and take games off player that are better than you.
Play your best

This isn't just best of 1 it's Bo1 in a group stage with 7 people. Of course you can say things such as you aren't used to your opponent as much so you get cheesed easier, but this is actually not argument related to bad format just lack of allround skill. You could for example argue that the format is bad for Idra because he is not good at playing a different player each time. This does not make it a bad format, it makes it a bad format for Idra. Other players will consistently be better in this format.
