Tastosis keep claiming that this strategy is completely original, but I think I remember seeing Idra do this in the GSL on Steppes of War and called it a creep highway or something like that. He built a bunch of hydras and spine crawlers and ran them down the map while overlords spread creep to make a path for them. It's not the exact same thing, but similar enough to say that Nestea didn't make this idea up on his own. Does anyone else remember this game, or did I just make something up? Entirely different strat. Pushing with Hydras and Spines and Overlord-highway has been done for a while. Punishing a forge-fe Toss with a Lair-rush and forward-built crawlers is about as original as it gets.

I'm not saying it's imbalanced, but a possible all-in doesn't really change the dynamics of the match up past early game. with that said, nestea so awesome and that rush so excellent ;>!

No no no, this is completely different. That strat is a 2-base all-in and you use the creep highway to reinforce faster, this is a superfast Lair that completely counters FFE and is not all-in at all

Risky but oh so rewarding and the timings worked out perfectly with the hydras defending then attacking. The hype is justified ![]() and they're meant to be entertaining as well so spreading some extra on is just par the course How is it risky? NesTea doesn't stop droning, he just gets a faster lair and tries the bust. The worst than can happen is being behind on creep spread due to lack of Queens and forcing a ton of cannons from Protoss

Does anyone else remember this game, or did I just make something up? this is fundamentally different in that idra's giraffe migration (yes, that's what people ended up nicknaming it) is a slow push involving hydras and a few spines meant to punish a greedy protoss midgame who fails to get colossus in time. that push works only in small maps anyways. nestea's push however is completely different: you fast tech to lair, cut offensive units save a few lings to deny scouting / discourage protoss from trying to leave his base, and drop creep on the spot next to the natural to throw up spines on location, as opposed to a slow push with an army backing up the offensive towers.

I know, usually the defensive cannons are very embedded in gateways and nexus buildings. But any cannon ahead of the nexus would help protect against that, and with probes around a defensive cannon can be planted to defend against attempts to reposition spine crawlers (they might require moving overlord and such). A somewhat more active scouting outside of the FE would stop it with cannons.
