By offering the WO you put the player in a horrible situation where they look like cowards if the take it or fools if they don't.

Come to think of it weren't there several "He's going to be here, we promise" moments in the first few seasons of GSL? I remember at least one and I didn't watch that much of the opens.

As long as they're up front about these facts from the beginning with their players, I can see every reason for NASL to enforce the W/O rules very strictly. If a player wants to compete, they commit to the scheduling, and if they can't commit to it they shouldn't compete. Its disrespectful to the casters, the management, and the opponent who are ready and waiting for a player to decide that they can't play that week because of some other non-urgent reason.

Well, they could always show it on Monday or Sunday, when they don't have any broadcasts. Or even upload it on youtube. If they made the game available people will flock to it and watch it.

I don't quite understand the reason for choosing the format of delayed broadcast of live cast games, especially when the games happen one day prior to the cast. You get almost all the issues associated with live casting, including scheduling inflexibility, while still not making the end result live for the viewers. It seems a huge number of issues can be resolved simply by casting from replays. Of course, an admin still has to be there for the matches to referee, but that's a lot easier than scheduling the players, the admins, and the casters all on the same day. Just my two cents here. 2. Given that a strict schedule is followed, I am on board with holding players to what they signed up for, regardless of prior engagements. If DH happens and you have to go, then accept that you're going to get W/O in NASL. And if it is the case that you persistently hold other tournaments over NASL for the purpose of priority scheduling, then I see no reason why NASL should not kick you out of the league altogether and keep the deposit. It doesn't matter if it's White-Ra or IdrA or Dustin Browder himself. A league like this requires commitment, and commitment is also needed for eSports to grow. 3. Having said that, there are sometimes legitimate excuses - for example being sick and unable to play - which are out of the players' control. Part of the reason I think replay casting is better than the current NASL setup is that it controls for these cases better, giving an opportunity for rescheduling in case stuff doesn't go as planned. Failing that, though, perhaps the right answer is to play the games several days earlier. Assuming players are held to a strict NDA, playing a day before versus several days before shouldn't matter that much as long as precautions are taken to prevent result leak via match history. 4. If it is the case that a scheduling problem is known beforehand and is legitimate, I think that rather than not having the games at all it's better to compromise and schedule a replay cast instead. For example, for DH White-Ra and July could've played their games before DH happened to guarantee that we'll have a match as opposed to a blank time slot. It should be made clear, though, that such lenience is not guaranteed and will be given only for players who have good reasons to break the schedule. 5. Unfortunately, persistent troublemakers need to go, regardless of their skill. For a league to be professional its players must be professional. It's understandable that the SC 2 foreigner's scene, which has long been an amateur's scene, is not able to adjust to professionalism right away, but for a regular broadcast league to work you can't be running late and/or short frequently. I appreciate Incontrol's statement that NASL will address this issue and look forward to seeing what will be implemented to ensure these problems don't occur in the future Your concerns are valid and i guess there is still 30min until the NASL starts so i don't see a problem discussing these now but when it starts i think a lot of people would appreciate if this LR thread remained an LR thread for LRing and any complaints or suggestions can be taken to this thread ![]() With regards to the scheduling argument - people are constantly forgetting how much goes into this many games being broadcasted; they have prioritised a large number of games over schedule flexibility and i guarantee you that every player going into the NASL knew that this was the case. The most important thing is SjoW made arrangements to play his match; he found a PC bang to get it done in, yet after 4 hours White-Ra was uncontactable and poor July was sitting around since 4am. Shit happens; accept the W/O and move on. Commitment would have been a criteria for selection for the NASL i am almost sure, i don't see why this is an issue. Otherwise i agree with most of your other points L)

If the NASL would make an exception for this match, they would be pressured into doing it for all of the others. Making this scenario even worse, and thats apparently something you're against.

We can borrow the Roman word for 'marketplace' or 'town square' to describe this meeting place of sorts. Perhaps employ some form of energy such as photons or electrons to transfer or transmit this information between users who are interconnected by way of a network of mechanical or electronic machines...

I'm speaking from a purely spectator point of you. You're coming from a contract laywer/negotiator point of you, which is fine. However not all of us are interested in the behind the scenes intricacies. We are consumers interested in the product, which are games. If NASL can't provide marquee games because of W/O then what's the incentive for the viewers to keep on coming back when there are other leagues like TSL, GSL, ESL, IPL, etc?
