A ban seems a little harsh.

I sort of agree that, for a guy who as critical of the strategies of the best protoss players in the world (perhaps rightfully so), Tyler's strategies are often disappointing.

Games 1 and 3 his expo was quite a bit later than Thorzain. Insisting on getting colossi against thors rather than immortals, the really gimmicky blink play, not getting charge and really bad micro in game 3. He makes quite a few mistakes in almost every tournament he's in these days.

Seems like his strategies are a little too calculated for his own good. I'd like to see more reactionary play from Tyler.

Damn you are so clueless, have you seen tyler vs jinro for pax east showmatch ? His build is refined, so well thought out, everything comes exactly at the right time.
Against Thorzain, well I have only seen the 3rd game, but he was OFF his game. Now ok he loss, ok thorzain might be a big badass, but you know tyler is reading, have some consideration for the player and stop commenting... I'm sure he knows well what mystakes he made during the games.

i think the point is not that white-ra bm or not. you could interpret anything from anything so...the point is really, that koreans or asians are not familiar with sarcasm as it is in the western world. some koreans could be easily offended and take it personally. if this case happens, it's already wrong what white-ra did imho. so a simple GG is enough. especially in a televised show, he shouldnt write something which could be interpreted as a bm or insult.

Not to take anything away from Thorzain, who played impeccably, but it seemed clear to me that nerves were getting to Tyler. There were several instances of mis control, even on basic things like probe splits, several instances of failures in his build timing, a few failures in decision making with unit composition/upgrades (late immortals v thors, blink before charge), and several macro failures, including his getting capped on two occasions.

I don't think all of these unforced errors happen, especially not with incredibly well rehearsed builds, and against a pretty passive opponent with little harassment, without nerves coming into play in a huge way. That said, in general Tyler's style was a bit too reactive and passive. It was really strange to see the blind safety play with the obs/stalkers/photons.

Anyone who has seen Tyler play extensively, knows he's capable of a lot more. Hopefully he'll just put this behind him (I'm sure he was furious with himself) and push on. It's pretty stupid to misquote and paraphrase the remarks he's made, when in the capacity of a pundit on an opinion show he's respectfully pointing out weaknesses about players he acknowledges are better than him.

The reality is that Tyler is a student of the game and very meticulous from everything we've seen on him. If he has it in him to see flaws in even MCs play, he'll be going over the many points of failure with in each of his games and beating himself up, so why not leave it at that?

Argh Tyler i was hoping for at least a closer series - i'd love to hear some insight into what happened out there; your play just seemed to be super safe

Always a fan Tyler - hope you bounce back and dominate NASL and everything else you enter into. Show us your champion qualities! I hope you get back on your game

Thorzain is incredible, not only his strategies are effective but also he's the most fun to watch player out there.

Hope he wins this

That's exactly what he has though, isn't it?

He got 6th at MLG DC and 4th at the national championships, I figured most people (including me) were thinking that he's just in a slump at the moment.

Haha, knew thorzain would completely outclass Tyler, very commanding and dominant performance, not sure why tyler is so hyped, nothing special about his play at all, thorzain on the other hand, wow.

Of course I'm being biased towards my region, but it seems quite clear to me that

Korea > Sweden > World

Korea: Obvious.
Sweden: Jinro, Haypro, Morrow, Sjow, Naniwa, Thorzain (there are of course more, but these are the ones most people have heard of).

Now I'm not claiming that the ordering is gonna be true in the long-term or even that the differences are large enough to be of note, but I do believe that one can make good arguments for it, more so than with other nations.

I do agree that Tyler was likely not on the top of his game, but I believe Thorzain would have won regardless (admittedly this is pure speculation)

What do you mean destroying SC1 players in every tournament? Naniwa is the only one to have won a major tournament, the other guys haven't done much.

Holler.

HuK Kiwi.

The best foreign SC1 players have been more successful with the likes of Jinro, Idra, Huk, White-Ra, Sen than foreign WC3 players

Jinro and Huk were never among the best foreign Brood War players actually. Just points out the fact that it's how you adapt to how SC2 currently plays out, not your background, that matters.

Also, mechanical superiority of BW hardly counts for anything in SC2.

Just look at vast majority of pro level games in SC2 that aren't PvP - no real aggression, zero multitasking, really basic micro (none worth even talking about), super passive strategies that make zero sense from a fundamental RTS point of view, armies sitting in base or walking about doing absolutely nothing most of the game leading into blob vs blob battles. What are you going to spend 300 effective APM on, burning calories? =/

Ah well, Mondi is still in this at least. Let's hope he didn't get corrupted by this game as badly as the rest. =P

What on earth are you talking about? It seems to me you have missed most of the tournament games in the last couple of months...you can't just call TvZ or TvT passive matchups.

Mechanical superiority of sc1 hardly counts? Is that why Mvp gained 30 supply over Mkp in one of the wc finals games with 0 attacking/harassing? A teamer > B teamer for good reason.

I don't know, it seemed like he is just playing his builds just playing standard like he is afraid to push edges and in effect he completely failed to adapt to his opponent. Lack of self-confidence maybe?

As for the PvP series that is easily the most boring/not exciting matchup in all of SC2. Not very enjoyable to watch. (the PvP is boring not the players).

Edit: the intro was also so badass

Why do people constantly put words in tylers mouth?! He never said, that he thinks MC isn't good. He simply said he didn´t like his style, because it is risky at times and depends heavily on timing pushes. Tyler even said quite a few times, that MC is probably the best Toss in the world at the moment. Not liking his style is not saying "he isn´t good".

I'm not putting words in his mouth, go back a few SotG episodes. He actually said he doesn't think mc is that good

Were you not listening to what he said? He clarified, again and again (and again...), that he think MC is a GREAT player, but that he doesn't like his style.

GSL World Championship really showed that... oh wait... im sorry White-Ra got eliminated in Round 1, and Dimaga didnt make it far either. Oh wait. White-Ra just got 3-0'd by MC as well. Where is this kid, I want to see him eat his words.

I don't think EU > KR but how can you talk down Dimaga's performance? He beat July, MVP AND Nestea, even being the first player to ever take games off of Nestea on TV. That's an amazing performance.

Ugh those White-Ra vs MC games showed just how bad the 3 stalker build is. I don't get why people are still insisting on using it. Your opponent can either hide a pylon and just kill you or tech up without any dangers of getting 4 gated because it's so easy to scout.

In the games between Tyler vs Thorazin I thought Tyler looked waaay too safe, and not punishing Thorazin for cutting some corners. Thorazin really outplayed Tyler.

MC making WhiteRa look like a noob.

.... I really hate watching PvP
