Well grats to him for beating one person we actually recognize lol. As predicted, Cruncher wouldn't get far, he's so overrated ever since his win against IdrA and the FXOpen which people say (I don't know if its true), had pretty bad lag.
Also, I thought ROOT was going to "dominate" MLG. Excluding Destiny they had 5 guys? Only 1 made it into the Top 8 (I would say Top 10 but I can't confirm that). All i know is that CatZ had a pretty early exit, and Drewbie and Slush didn't make it that far either. Disappointing.
That being said, grats grats grats to KiwiKaki on 2nd place, I never doubted that he would take first or second place.
Root's performance is comparable to liquid and EG. The only team that outperformed against these three powerhouses is team-dignitas.
* Placed 1st in group A with 4-0 record * Advanced to round 1 of the championship upper bracket * Lost 0-2 to Dignitas.NaNiwa and dropped to the championship lower bracket * Won the championship lower bracket * Defeated 2-4 by Dignitas.NaNiwa in the championship grand finals extended series
Coaching is huge income for in demand players. Most major teams pay salaries and a lot of players have part-time jobs or are in school and their parents help them out. Also depends on where you live. Some countries players get a decent amount from the government since they aren't employed or in school, plus they get prize money.
And remember Idra's $500 is money in his pocket. Sponsor pays for all the accommodation, flight and food.

Do they really? I could see them doing for Idra since he is such high profile, but what about other players?
Why? it's his biggest prize from a tournament in a while right? and 500 dollars is not a small amount at all, we've just been spoiled with all these ridiculous prize pools lately^^

Nobody goes into progaming to make big money, but if you want some data, in this AMA Destiny revealed his finances (keep in mind he is one of the most popular streamer/coach).

That's not what I'm asking, but thanks for that. Makes me wonder how much husky or day9 gets for their ads....
We were looking so forward to this tournament but did not enjoy it much at all. We had to wait such a long time for games that when they were finally broadcasted we were barely left with any interest in them. A lot of games were not shown and even if there was something on the stream, most of the time it would just be day and wheat talking about cows and zealots. This was very dissapointing and I hope the next event will be better to watch for online spectators.
If I may give MLG a suggestion, perhaps hire a team of two lesser known casters and broadcast on two channels at the same time. This way more games can be shown, there will be less downtime and the audience in general will be bigger as people will not be tuning off the stream because of rediculously long wait times.
I am a little bit surprised about TLO showing the best performance of all TL guys. His 5th place isnt bad and without incontrol cheesing/extended series he would have been atleast 4th.
I somewhat thought that you cant take TLO 100% serious with all his race switching and goofy openings going on, but he proofed me wrong and i liked it.
For a major tournament this one seemed appallingly badly organized. The streams were terrible, I can't find VODs at all (except for the odd game being thrown up on youtube) and the bracket system they use is more complicated than the GSL and NASL put together (not to mention extremely dumb for having a finals match start 2-0 for someone). On top of that the prize money seems really low compared to the prestige MLG has somehow garnered for itself.

Mhmm. MLG better get their shit together in Columbus or they'll be overshadowed in a second to any other league that exists, assuming they haven't already.

Tragic to see how much better our neighbors are at gaming, but it clearly comes down to mentality. Norwegian esport is at a shitty place with almost noone willing to stick to their guns and actually improve.

True that. I really really miss some of the crazy norweigan top players. They were always fantastic and always played like a 5th as much.
