[NASL] Players (final) - Page 174
Forum Index > StarCraft 2 Tournaments |
Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied. Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't.

It really hurts the legitimacy of the tournament. I mean imagine how big of a shitstorm there would be if NFL teams contracted their own referees and commentators. (FYI Xeris is also the manager of Fnatic) I wouldn't mind any of this if NASL was clearly trying to be an amateur tournament. However they are trying to be professional, which means they will be judged by a higher standard. Excellent post, and this is how I feel a lot. The fact of the matter is that since the beginning of the NASL theres been a lot of ''sketchy'' things. Some stuff has happened that just shouldnt normally happen when youre using a high standard of professionnalism, and none of these things have, to my liking, been perfectly handled. Now, in some other instances I wouldnt mind these that much, but when you add in the fact that there can easily be bias due to conflict of interest within the league organisers/casters and the players, you would normally need an even higher level of transparency, which has not been provided at the moment.

No. I could say that about almost all of the players in the field. Supernova and TOP are two of the best Terrans in the world and they got turned down, so I really don't think you can use the evidence you're using to show that iNcontrol shouldn't be in.

On February 1st I contacted as many teams as I could and allowed them to begin preparing. These are the people/teams that fell under the category of “direct approach.” When we opened the application process, I contacted those teams again to allow them to officially submit their players. Anyone whose team manager was not directly contacted was part of the “public application” pool. Because we were running at a fairly tight deadline, we had to close the application period at March 16th – we were not able to consider all the “public applications” received after this time. This applies to players such as DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLuSh, for example. Now, to clarify: the “application” is not just the video. The application is complete when the contract has been signed. The process for a public application was for them to send their application video along with manager contact information to apply@nasl.tv . After receiving their info, I would then send the contracts out to be signed. LaLuSh, DIMAGA, and Kas did not follow this application process. Mostly I've only got myself and bad communication within our team to blame for screwing up the application. I do however accept the explanation of late applications not being considered as I think it's reasonable to stick to your deadlines/rules/process. But I've got a question regarding the explanation you provided. You wrote that you had to close the application period at March 16th. Did you mean March 11th, when player applications from public approach were due (according to your deadlines and process thread), or did you really mean March 16th? Checking my sent mail folder, you should have received the delayed application March 13th at around ~1pm PST. As I understand it player videos for public approach would also have been due March 11th, together with the mailed applications? I see alot of delayed videos having been uploaded, some even considerably later than Dimagas, implying more players were delayed in sending in their applications. Now I don't know how important the different deadlines are for your application process (maybe the video deadline wasn't as important as the other deadlines, and you cut people some slack on that). It does however seem there were a couple of exemptions to the deadlines based on the upload dates of many of the videos. So, questions: 1. Which of the deadlines were the most important? 2. Did you consider applications all the way until March 16th? How come? Wasn't that after the deadline? I didn't expect to get a slot in NASL either way. But as it is now -- my application wasn't even considered. And I'm eager to have you explain some of the discrepancies in that explanation you provided.

I mean if they needed to choose between Cruncher and Minigun they should have decided by a showmatch or something not coin toss.

The evidence is in tournaments, he's not won ANYTHING. Other players that have been dumped by the wayside for him have. It doesn't matter which way you spin it. He has been picked because of favouritism. There's players that would have drawn just as many viewers or more than him that haven't been picked. there's players that have more pedigree than him that haven't been picked and there's players that are more skilled than him that haven't been picked. You can't even use the Visa excuse for some.

And for those complaining about the NASL not asking DeMuslim about his injury or NightEnd and his Visa, I ask you this, why did they not contact the NASL about these issues? To me the players really should have made these issues clear. And remember there is the open tournament in which a lot of these left out players will be able to qualify for the next season. I keep seeing just a handful of names or players that were left out and to me that means they did a damn good job in picking the players. You are never going to please everyone because not everyone shares the same thoughts on who are the top 50. After a season or two things will shape up very well and I think this first season will be quite awesome and give us some amazing games as well.

If Demuslim does submit an application, wouldn't it make sense to assume that he feels he will be ready to play by the time the matches start? And the fact that his team didn't talk to him to get it straightened out? Yeah w/e. Strange to say the least.

Demuslim said in his video he was injured but would be okay, and the NASL never let him know that this could be an issue to them, so he should have contacted them about ? Same for Nightend who told them himself that he would be able to get a VISA, how was he supposed to expect them to ''require'' such visa if they didnt let him know about that, is he just supposed to guess what is in their mind and go through the visa process which is a bitch ? This is not about pleasing everyone or my favorite players not beign in, to me names dont even matter that much, to me its about the transparency (or the current lack of) of the selection process. Also, to me, the excuse of ''the player should have done more, we're on a tight schedule and its not our job'' feels very weak.
