Very good game from Polt imo, a textbook example of great MMM usage vs a tank heavy composition.

Polt has beaten some big names before. His victory over SlayerS_BoxeR in GSL3 is one of GSL's biggest upsets.
He's honestly an underestimated player.

In that last game, what would you guys think about adding on a reactor factory, and adding blue flame hellions to your army composition? Since you already have the tech, seems like it would be a decent way to fight the bio ball without depending completely on siege tanks to do the damage.

Reactor factory means you can't use that factory for tanks, and Polt was going more marauder heavy. Also hellions explode instantly from stim so I don't know.

Again with the 2-2, the double E-bay is a huge factor in making this build stay effective as tank numbers grow.

Polt's gold has been scouted and he's using his army to protect it. Big battle and most tanks die but more reinforcements arrive. Another battle marines were out of position and most tanks get sniped Polt steam rolling at this point.

Polt has a 30 suppy lead over Nova thanks to the gold.

I am a diamond terran player and I will be so glad if there is any master terran help me understand why these high level terrans refuse to use PDD. I really want to know the motive behind not to use PDD.

producing tanks, medivacs and some upgrades like supernova was doing consumes all the gas that you get on 2 bases, so it's not viable until the later stages where you have the gas income to support some ravens. There is also an inconvenience in needing a starport with a techlab for the ravens.

My only complaina about the OP is that when you spoiler the games you only do it for the games played. So in case of Supernova vs Polt you have only Game 1 and Game 2 so when you open game 1, you know who won the whole thing.
It's a small thing and can be argued that why someone who doesnt want to get spoiled is looking at them anyways but I just like to open them one by one for the excitement :D

It's weird, maybe it's cause I'm drunk and thinkly poorly (it's my 21st birthday woo!) but that really was, unfortunately, some pretty low level TvT from what we're used to in the GSL. Honestly, in the GSL TvT is generally really entertaining, it's one of my favorite matchups, but that was just not the case tonight. I don't really expect SuperNova getting very far next season in Code S.

I would have to figure that once Supernova knew he had the game in hand, he stopped focusing 100%. He kind of went into autopilot. Yes, the finish was sloppy, but I'm sure if it was closer, you wouldn't have seen those same kind of mistakes. It's like a basketball team that's up by 40 pts at halftime. The final score will be much closer than the game actually deserved.

I watched a lot of his Code A and he played well. But those games were for Code A. In the games for Code S qualification he played terribly yet still gets in, something just isnt right about that

Supernova should be in code S because of the following:
1.) He has a GREAT TvP. 2.) His TvT is worse than is TvP and STILL he managed to take out TheBest. Therefore, if playing a matchup that isn't his best still results in him winning up/down matches, then it's safe to say he'll be more than able to compete with code S toss players (well, maybe not MC, but you get my point?)

Those TvT's were pretty bad, sad that Nova gets into Code S after playing so badly in those games I agree, but he will be out pretty quick. Nova is in Code S, and boxer isn't...lol. (Hey, I'm not saying he's the best, but come on...His up and down matches were VERY well done, regardless of the fact he lost) Something just seems wrong with that =P
I think you're mixing up good play with exciting games. Boxer definitely gave some awesome games, but his macro is pretty average, which lost him his Code S spot. It saddens me since I'm a big Boxer fan, but I'm not going to deny that he has his big weaknesses as a player.

I agree that they were not too interesting to watch, because they were very onesided, but I don't agree that Supernova doesn't deserve Code S because of that. The quality was quite high and there was always a lot of stuff going on all the time and he reacted very well most times, he just failed attacking patiently vs Polt.

No, you need to keep your zealots alive as long as possible, they are needed to kill the spine crawler. Put them up in front and they die first; then your probes do jack against the spine crawler.

I expect him to beat two low-tier Code S players as Polt and TheBest in a convincing way when he intentionally picks them, knowing that he plays 2 TvTs. Otherwise he is just Code A material and does not need to advance.

You try to handwave SuperNova's Code A performance by calling the people he beat "mid-tier Code A players". Don't know if you're aware of this, but two of those "mid-tier code A players" happen to be in code S now. Another one exhibited nigh unstoppable PvT in the GSTL, even taking down MVP in a ridiculous macro game. I wouldn't call that "mid-tier Code A". You're not saying anything other than going, "Oh but he played badly in the Up/Down matches", which is hardly a substantial argument for being undeserving of Code S.

Except Polt showed himself to have impressively improved, and he outclassed TheBest so much that it didn't really matter if he played a bit sloppy or not. You make all these assumptions about the skill level of SuperNova's opponents to try to understate his wins or overstate his losses.

He picks 2 Terrans that are just not good (at that point in time), knowing he has to play 2 TvTs.
Then he loses the first game he doesn't need to if he plays on the safer side, and wins the second as TheBest from the beginning refuses to want to win the game.
Hence, I am dissapointed by his performance. I expect him to show very confident TvT if he picks it. He didn't.

yeah i dont know why koreans dont do this more, you watch almost anyone from liquid or eG (and probably more, but those are the streams i watch the most) and their first 8 workers are shared over the close 4 mineral patches. The koreans must know about it, so i have no idea why they dont do it.
I do it in my games, and you can actually SEE the difference on the resource collection chart...

I see where you're getting confused by semantics. Or, you could be nitpicking at semantics instead of merely misinterpreting them, which would be pretty lame on your part, but I'll give you the benefit of doubt. When I say single day's performance, I mean literally a single day's performance. When I say "SuperNova's Code A performance", that's a cumulative thing that better illustrates his skill level. Overall Code A performance and a single day's performance are FAR different things. One actually works for making a fairly accurate judgment of someone's skill, but the other does not.
And sure, you can turn around his Code A accomplishments by restating beating two now-code S players as also beating 3 still-Code A players, but that's just a mere restatement. It doesn't change the fact that he totally rolled someone as good as Alicia, and came close to beating someone as good as LosirA.

Oh my, Rainbow goes for the double pronged harass again but this time Banbans completed shuts it down. His main forces stop the poke at his third, while his stalkers snipe out both medivac drops. Could be a bit of trouble for Rainbow now, though he's kept up admirably on macro despite the somewhat slower third.

Poor Banban, he held off that drop, I think he was ahead but Rainbow was just better and clever. Especially in G1, I as Protoss have big problems when Terran is attacking at multiple places, because P is so immobile.

It appears that no one has helped SuperNova improve his tank play since his loss to Losira, he simply doesn't understand how to use tanks. His siege timing is horrible and he doesn't know how many tanks to get to compete with the opposing armies.
In TvT if you're going tank + bio and your opponent goes full out bio, you should only get around 4 tanks because you will definitely want to have around the same amount of bio as your opponent, otherwise stimmed marauders will rape your tanks. Clearly SuperNova didn't get this lesson from Trump as Polt made him look like a fool.
SuperNova's match against BestFou showed that SuperNova doesn't even know how to win a tank + bio + viking mirror match. If your opponent goes tank bio vikings just like you, you need to establish air dominance, and once you get that air dominance you need to break your opponent's tank line by slowly inching your tanks forward, only the nose of your tank should cross your opponent's tank's range.

Yeah a Code S Korean needs, not even, top 100 foreigner's assistance. Did you even read this out aloud before you said it? Pretty sure the oGs coaches will tell him whats up, and regardless he probably already knows. There is a thing called nerves and people make amateur mistakes when they get them.

Yeah DRG is a siiick Zerg. I've watched his stream a bunch of times and he rolls code S players no problem. I saw probably the most epic ZvT I've ever seen on his stream when he played vs Clide cross position metal.

Well it wasn't a good season for up/down matches for fOu. All of 3 of their players moved/stayed down. I'm not sure why people say they are such a strong team... they don't seem to have any notable players... but then again I haven't watched many of their code S (or recently code S) players like sC or TheBest.
Anyway... I'm glad Rainbow stayed in. I'm not really sure why, maybe just because he was consistent the first two seasons and it'd be nice to see more people who stay in code S for a long time.

I'm not saying he's no good, I'm just saying he doesn't know how to use tanks. His excellent macro and good harass makes up for it but it'd only take him so far. If he learns how to use tanks he'd be nearly unstoppable.

really happy vanvan is out of code s, i simply don't think he deserved to be there, much like choya. before someone accuses me of saying i hate on toss i'm a toss player, i just think those two are simply not code s, or maybe even code a material. the games w/ losira/vanvan were pretty interesting to say the least :D
really happy for rainbow too, he really needs a chance to show us if he can play as well as he used to, i have faith in the guy <3

The code A players this season are pretty good, looking forward seeing Code S matches for next GSL

Poor zergies are now the under represented race with Protoss edging up there hehe.. Some good names in there, should be an interesting season.
Surprised in a good way that Rainbow made it back up there; hopefully he can put on a good show in Code S.. Obviously amazing to see HuK in there, not convinced he will last long after watching his games verse Losira; he most certainly has the potential - he just has to bring it out on the day..

what the HELL was banbanzenith doing in the first game vs losira?
he literally tossed the game away the moment his first zealot got "scared" off by 8 drones allowing losira to buy time to make lings + mine minerals... i guess he didnt get the memo that zealot can tank and OWN drones ... and he also forgot he had a probe there to prevent a complete surround as well
after he backed off and waited for the second zealot, his zealot was attacking the POOL .. WOW?!?
you've already cut probe production, what else do you need to micro/macro in that game?
such a utter failure it was worse than watching a platinum player
and game 2? making a nexus when his probe scouts that the zerg is going 1-base all in? really? not cancelling the nexus when u could make 2 more cannons and win the game?
just mind boggling ...

I disagree about Choya. Choya may have often employed rather cheesy play, but he also showed instances of great, intelligent play, such as in his match against HuK. TBH Choya outplayed HuK for the most part in that series IMO. And we can't forget about how he knocked out MVP (though MVP played pretty badly) and had a great Bo5 series against Jinro in previous seasons.

Losira advances to Code S again Awesome he deserves it. Now I am Only sad about Leenock when will this guy get a Break from his bad Luck with his Opponents next you know he will have to go against IMmvp i am gonna Scream then. Leenock deserves to go to Code S so badly.
