The stats could shed light to what may have caused the terran slump this season. Instead of talking about balance, why don't we talk about what MVP could have done to win? It's pretty clear that he didn't put enough effort into slowing down the Protoss before they massed a large number of colossi. MVP was also extremely predictable with his expansion timings, and both his opponents probably practiced extensively against this. He needs to mix up his game and do things like 1 base stim rush, or quick hellion drops.

Gosh, I hope the mods give the balance whiners a ban, especially to the one who created an account specifically to QQ. The little wing-nut has had haters since season 2, people constantly crying his near future demise . Yet hes consistantly produced: - Moments of magic - Controversy - Nail biters He dropped the ball totally in the TvT finals vs MvP though, and until Terrans find an answer to the new quick upgrade, blink/charge pressure protoss builds then I feel we wont have any terran outside of GOODY THE KING do well in comps. Sad day for terran. MvP has dropped 4% of his win/loss (not sure how much this means) on ladder recently... possibly a slum in motivation thinking hes too cool for school? oGsMC must be smiling. Kid could take a 3rd next season.

It can definitely unfairly influence the outcome of a single given situation in a match (the risk/reward equilibrium is sometimes messed up), but I really don't think it can shift a player's whole tournament run. Look at poker for instance. Though it's definitely not the same, I think it can illustrate my point quite well. The most skilled pros can have consistent results year after year, even when any given situation is influenced by an "imbalanced" element of luck (always favoring one player or the other). Even in a single tournament, with a run of statistically bad starting hands, an excellent player will achieve better results than what probability would predict. Once the SC2 pro scene will get closer to the "optimal" skill level, balance discussion will be a lot more precise and efficient. Af of now, I think individual skills and decision making weighs too much in the outcome of a match for slight imbalances to really matter.
