Also the time you build the raven, you cannot build medivacs, which are really important, if you lose medivacs like Fenix did in this game
The point is to keep the mutas out of battle.
If a zerg is running from HSM, they are not defending a hatchery from a marine push.
If a zerg makes a single micro mistake, their ball takes 100 damage, etc.
It's not too reliable maybe, but we never see it tried :o

well it was true here cause fenix responded bad and got heavily outplayed. the price you pay for such powerful harrass is a weak force in direct confrontations. mutas are terribly weak in direct fights for their cost.
fenix didnt adapt at all and wasted tons of small groups instead of trying to force the Z into a fight.

this is true and can work. problem is that the 200 gas means a thor ,2 medivacs or 1 1/2 tank less. in addition to the research and the medivac production time you lose from switching onto tech lab . plus the LONG waiting time till hsm is ready.

Really? You are seeing lots of zergs winning at top tournaments with his style?

They are allowed but i remember i think ttone saying he just didnt like it cluttering his screen, although i think the advantage of microing easier waaay outweights that.

If the "style" is so common you would think people can stop it, but we all know that's easier said than done. All in all, it's more about game sense and basic macro/micro fundamentals that does the trick.

ummm he cant exactly just magic box vs 3-4 thors if there is a risk of a HSM one shotting his entire army... and MAJOR tech swap my ass he went banshees and had starport/techlabs everywhere...

Yay, I love mass muta play <3 I especially wish I would have seen him immediately get carapace upgrades on them, it really helps vs turrets and marines to make sure you keep a very large muta count. Micro-ing mutalisks is my favorite thing to do in this game. "Oh you made tanks?? I'll just never engage on the ground"

He stayed on Lair tech for a long time and massed mutas with constant harass. There are a few differences between them but for the most part they were both very lair/muta centric.

Absolute fail micro of the Hellions.

I have an even lower opinion of Fenix now, terrible.

Actually mass muta ( real mass , 50+) is being extremely successful in korean ladder.
|
Seems to me that Fenix just doesn't have the refined play that Moonglade has.
|
bling nest and melee +1 for glade. Also getting his 3rd
Hellion "harrass" by fenix killing a lot of zerglings, but are forced to retreat.
Fenix initiation a drop.

Actually I didnt think about the defensive use of HSM, which would secure him the gold and maybe even fourth base. So I agree, maybe it would have been worth a try, though Fenix was dead already.
