ahhh yeah diggity and incontrol casting woot. i love how many matches there are in the gcpl league.
|
Finally we can see huk play in this league :D
|
HUK!!! nice to see him competing in team match
|
|
TLO vs Hasu! They had so many epic games so far. Hope for one more! :D
I think the series will go into an ace match.
|
Oh, nice to see HuK in the lineup, pity he has to play PvP though Love that he is in Europe for a while so we get to see more of him
|
|
Really looking forward to naama vs Ret.
|
|
gotta love liquid for going one zerg one toss one terran and one random
|
Liquid pulling the big guns.
|
LiquidJinro <Jungle Basin> MouzStrelok
Lag can be horrible in TvT. Since i guess they're playing on EU-server, Banshee or Drop play might really spoil Jinros day here, though Jinro has shown some good games on JB. I give that one to Strelok.
LiquidRet <Metalopolis> MouzNaama
Meta depends totally on the positions, but i'm inclined to give Ret the benefit of doubt and hope for non-close positions.
LiquidHuK <Delta Quadrant> MouzMaNa
Haha. PvP. Whatever.
LiquidTLO <Xel Naga> MouzHasuObs
TLO has been performing amazingly in the recent time and he plays from EU-server. Should be a straightforward win (unless it's PvP ofc..)
Ace <Scrap Station> Ace
Depending on the PvP, probably an ace TvT with TLO and Strelok, which TLO will take in a pretty epic game.
|
LiquidJinro <Jungle Basin> MouzStrelok
LiquidRet <Metalopolis> MouzNaama
LiquidHuK <Delta Quadrant> MouzMaNa
LiquidTLO <Xel Naga> MouzHasuObs Liquid will probably win the ace-match.
I like both teams, so I hope for a close clanwar.
|
This is TLs strongest line-up. Also great maps as long as ret doesn't get close spawns on Meta.
Yes Mouz is strong, but if TL loses with their best line-up then i'll be sad and disappointed .
Also, what server is this on? EU? Doesn't that give a huge edge to Mouz? I'm suprised Huk is even playing if that is the case since he hates that type of laggy gameplay so much.

Yeah im sure that can make some of the games super frustrating.
I hope to see a strong liquid win.

Hmm, it will definetely come down to the TLO-Hasu game I think
|
Neutral games (EU vs KR) are on the US server. Huk and Ret are in Europe for Assembly so those games will be on the EU server.

Is there a reason this week's GCPL matches aren't on the calendar yet, or are they going to be put on there soon?

HAHAHAHA, sorry I found that hilarious. But in all seriousness, this should be a pretty good series between the two. I'm going to give the PvP to HuK though just because of the Protoss players he can practice with (i.e. MC). I want to say that Liquid will take it 3-1, but we'll see what happens.
|
fuck yes, huk is playing!
|
Watching Huk's stream, his weakest matchup seems to be PvP, but he'd pretty damn good at defending 4-gates, I wouldn't be surprised to see him 4-gate himself too. I haven't seen Mana's PvP, but he's a pretty sick player so I think it could be close. Strelok vs Jinro could go one way or the other, both are fantastic players, so we'll see. Ret shouldn't have too much problem with Naama and TLO should destroy Hasu.
|
LiquidJinro <Jungle Basin> MouzStrelok
LiquidRet <Metalopolis> MouzNaama
LiquidHuK <Delta Quadrant> MouzMaNa
LiquidTLO <Xel Naga> MouzHasuObs
LiquidRet <Ace Match> MouzMaNa
Here's my guess, I think Jinro will make a mistake and Strelok will jump on it instantly. Though this CW could literally go either way.

I'm pretty sure it's about the casters, but even then... 5 am is just terrible.

(T)LiquidJinro <Jungle Basin> (T)MouzStrelok
Jinro's TvT is godly. He may have lag issues in Korea, but that won't stop him from playing his very best. I expect a solid decisive win here.
(Z)LiquidRet <Metalopolis> (T)MouzNaama
A bit reliant on spawn positions, but Ret has extremely solid ZvT play, especially if he can get far positions and let his macro explode. If this game goes past early game rushes, Ret will dominate.
(P)LiquidHuK <Delta Quadrant> (P)MouzMaNa
HuK has some solid PvP but it seems that by far, this is his worst matchup and we won't see him excelling in that tonight. MaNa, however has established he's an excellent PvP player, taking down the likes of Naniwa and Adelscott in convincing manners in Go4SC2 (which he also won) and Socke in Dreamhack (where he placed 2nd). HuK better bring his A game!
(R)LiquidTLO <Xel Naga> (P)MouzHasuObs
TLO has been on a crazy hot streak recently. He's ranked 9th on the EU ladder and shows no signs of letting up. His crazy, unorthodox Random play is still as amazing as always, and his matchups against Protoss with any race is super solid. (see TLO vs White-Ra x1000). Don't get me wrong, HasuObs, is AWESOME, but this is TL fucking O we're about here :D
|
how is it consistent, I've seen 3 matches live which were casted @ 20h CET :|

My predictions are 4-0 Liquid, unless Jinro gets horrible lagspikes from Korea.

Its still ridiculous that the match between two American teams (EG and ROOT) was played at 20:00 CET while the match between 2 European teams is played at 5 am CET.
But I guess its the teams own fault as they agreed to this nonsense.
Still sucks for the viewers, I wont watch this for sure.
|
I think it's going to end 3:1 for Liquid with the winners being: Jinro, Ret, Mana and TLO. Without the absolutely crazy time of 5 am i would say that Naama defeats Ret.
All i all it is really not a fair series with the time and the lag advantage for Liquid, still it is going to be a good series in my opinion.

Everyone, it's now Week 5 of the GCPL, and our cast times for each week are exactly the same:
GCPL Match Times Each Week - Wednesday 8 p.m. PST (11 p.m. EST, 4 a.m. Thurs UK, 5 a.m. Thurs CET) - Thursday 8 p.m. PST (11 p.m. EST, 4 a.m. Thurs UK, 5 a.m. Thurs CET) - Saturday 11 a.m. PST (2 p.m. EST, 7 p.m. UK, 8 p.m. CET) - Sunday 11 a.m. PST (2 p.m. EST, 7 p.m. UK, 8 p.m. CET)
Those were the cast times for GCPL Weeks 1-4, those will be the cast times for Week 5, and they will be the cast times for weeks 6,7,8 and 9 as well.

Whoever streams for gosucoaching has some issues, whether it be problems with skype, upload spikes, or something weird between them and their jtv client. Not the first night with the issue so hope it gets resolved. Always looking forward to any GCPL match though, regardless of stream hiccups.
As a guess by the look of it should cut down the kbps upload in order to fix the lack of fps.

Nice contain by Jinro, also, the fact that he had the missile turrets at his back expo helped him by taking down both of Strelok's medivacs with some marines and marauders still in them.

I've watch every single GCPL up to the point of them having problems. And every single one it has had problems so far. Whether it be starting late, cannot find players, cannot find replays, lagging stream, or all of the above.

I really do hope they improve. Because I believe this team league stuff is way more interesting than 1v1s. I know everyone on the GCPL staff really want esports to grow ..etc. but someone on their staff need to take a step up. every little steps, like making sure everything with the stream is okay 15 minutes before the show and start on time.

Agreed. I wish they would spend just 5 minutes in a practice game to test this stuff. It isn't like there is a lack of guides to stream, hell I am sure there are 5 or 6 on this very forum.

On February 10 2011 13:59 Orome wrote: lol how the HELL is ret already maxed after that initial all-in?
I think that was power of queens. Ret made around 6 queens. 4 for attack and 2 in base.Queens and roaches don't consume too much larva for their cost allowing more for drones.
|
Mod edit: don't spoil like that.
User was warned for this post
|
that wasn't an all in
if you noticed the production tab, just when ret saw the fact/starport, ret droned up like 20 drones
by the initial roach/ling/queen attack ret was up 20 workers, it was like 45 to 25 or something absurd
also, investing in starport/banshee tech and having it do zero damage basically puts T so far behind, plus it didn't help that he kept making banshees that were useless and didn't do anything all game.

The attack kept naama's army in check and based off the damage he was able to drone extra hard. Part of what made ret's attack so good I feel was naama's build not being very efficient. But because he killed all that stuff naama couldn't move out safely and ret's advantage snowballed.

I guess what I was trying to say is that I felt like the biggest reason why Ret was able to drone that hard was because Naama threw away his banshees for nothing against the queens and his banshees were an odd choice to begin with. I didn't think the roaches and lings actually did too much though. Of course trading armies would be awesome for Zerg at that point, especially since he was roach-heavy, but from what I saw, the roaches and lings didn't kill very much.

I'm a bit nervous about HuK at the moment. He seems to have these massive infrastructure investments which he combines with attacks. Like in the game vs Nestea he builds a nexus, 4 gateways, and moves out at the same time. This game he built six gateways + upgrades + robo bay at the same time, and almost lost thanks to it. I mean, all these games he still won, but there seem to be timing windows where he's very weak at.
|
Why did HasuObs use three different probes to build Nexus/Pylon/Assimilator simulatenously? Looks to me like he boxed some probes and then went over and built (which assigns one to each building).

I always feel stupid criticizing details of a pro's play, but from watching Huk's stream quite a lot, I think this is a problem he's had for a while. He's not a safe player by any means and he has quite a lot of losses on ladder where his opponent just hits that timing where Huk has almost no units. I'm not sure whether Huk does this consciously, but especially in this game just now it seemed pretty silly. He had that game completely won anyway, why risk it?
Also, he played Nestea? :O link please?

Personally I use Artosis's advice (when you're building structures during an attack you have that many less units) but HuK is much better than me obviously.
I assume with scouting he only does it when he feels comfortable his current army will hold up during the fight and that the structures he builds will help him earlier than if he waited until after his attack.

Like in the game vs Nestea he builds a nexus, 4 gateways, and moves out at the same time. This game he built six gateways + upgrades + robo bay at the same time, and almost lost thanks to it. I mean, all these games he still won, but there seem to be timing windows where he's very weak at. Well I think in this specific game, his infrastructure was delayed because of his dt tech. And after Mana got obs, the dts just became useless so he needed more gateways. I think he moved out because he wanted to make the most of his dt advantage, unless I'm incorrectly recalling the order of events.
But I have seen what you're talking about on his stream. Though one time I heard Huk commentating on his stream, long time ago, he said something about how he learned in Korea that it's actually better to have more warpgates than you need, and maybe that's why he likes to build lots of gateways when he moves out. Hopefully, he can show us how much he's improved from his training in Korea.

Transfusing the creep tumour! What a baller zerg.
His third is pretty slow though and Strelok is also getting a third. He needs to get a couple of more bases.

daaaamn haypro
I really hope Haypro has his big breakthrough soon like Jinro had at MLG, he's looking better and better each time I watch him play.

Wow that was amazing. Did you see that Moon? That's how you do it! :D

Damn nice baneling mines, 5 banes for 25-40 rines.

More banelings, this time on the other lane of metalopolis.

When we saw HayprO beat that nasty rush by KiWiKaKi in this league, it's been like night and day when I've seen him play.
It's like Pre-MLG Jinro to Post-MLG Jinro. HayprO is looking absolutely phenomenal.
Hayprolled.

I can see that becoming a new tag line if he keeps this level of play up. Looking simply amazing, can not wait to see how he and the other liquid guys do in Code A

My word Haypro is good... Im excited now about the possibility of him getting invited to the TSL so he can finally prove himself!

TL has been sick in GCPL.... Can't wait for next GSL!

That seems like the most logical scenario.

yeah that's what i thought too. hoping it's not.

Results messed up? Now i'm confused!

I seem to remember that the top replay had a later time stamp than the second one (I refer to InControl's replay folder). I just don't remember seeing InControl's selection of the 2nd and 3rd maps, if he went strictly bottom to top.

Insane casting duo, mad skills guys. Its 7.24 AM here, but sleep is overrated compared to this.

Strelok's building play is akin to marineking's marinemicro
:------D

lol loving the casting so much XD

"centifical hooks.... centifical hooks!" (is certain he got it right) "centrifical hooks?" "DAMMIT!"

So wtf is going on? I just got here and the results say TL won 3-0 yet i'm watching Strelock play Hayder on LT? What am I missing here?

confused games 1 and 2
strelok wins scrap, hayder picks metal and wins, strelok picks lt

That was pretty clutch by TL then, coming back when you knew you had to 3-0. :p

+ Show Spoiler + Those baneling bombs were really awesome on Metalopolis. And he did them really well. The trick with baneling bombs is getting them on the attack-path, but close enough to the Terran base they won't think to scan right next to their base. Like on the LT game, there were a few times before the container landed that the space between the Natural & Gold could have been baneling bombed; if you kill of their guy at the watch tower, there really is a chance to do it. Also give you a lot of vision of the area.
Only real thing I'm seeing Haypro do wrong is that, when he gets Map Control via Mutalisks... he overlords are stuck in his base. Especially noticeable in the 2 "close air" games of LT & Scrap. Overlords between the bases gives you an earlier heads up of the Banshees and so on. Just seemed like that vision could have helped a lot.
Also, after Day[9]'s Funday Monday with mass Queen, I'm seeing a huge utility to about 5 queens by the 10 minute mark on those "pinch points near your natural" maps like Scrap & LT. Let's you get out of the base easier & pushes the creep up to the Terran's front door while you harass with Mutas. Just seems like something that'll be more common as we go.
All told, good games tonight.
Grats to the winner!

It's just "baneling speed" and "zergling speed". No need to be technical. Names were added after they figured out what they wanted to add & given a name to sound good. You don't have to hold to that name.

Is it me or is there no sound in the Jinro vs Strelok vod?

I was also searching for a while. They are on justin.tv, right underneath the stream is a section "Previousy on gosucoaching"

It's been a problem of HuK's for a while now. Likewise I saw MC do something similar the other day too. Other players have pointed this out before too including IdrA.

The Vods barely load. For once the quality is too high, but even then i feel Justin.tv has a really crappy on-demand service. It's really nice that you can actually record and stream in HD, but there are plenty of sub-optimal internetconnections out there and i don't need to see every shimmer on the back of a drone to appreciate starcraft. Hell, some of the old BW-vods are hardly more than a bunch of big brown, grey and red pixels running around and you could still watch them for entertainment.
I'd love to watch this tournament, but so far it's been pretty much impossible.

Was a really good set of games, I know the Haypro Strelok series didn't "count" but it was a good series.
In light of all the zerg vs terran discussion, Haypro really gave strelok a run for his money and might have stumbled in a few spots that may have cost him the LT game. The rains down in africa.

GG's, really

HuK, baller Protoss and honorary European.

I really love huk's play. I've been thinking about why huk gets so many extra gateways, but then I realized something. Zerg can switch tech at any second since they have larvae. Terran can lift building onto different addons, but if protoss wants to switch it up, they need extra buildings. For example, huk had 4 gate robo. Obviously you can't use all 4 gates, but! If you wait until 4 gates are ready you can warp in 4 units at a time instead of 2-3 which can help in certain situations. If you want to switch to a mass gateway style, you don't have to build anything extra.
When players are on many basses and there are tons of minerals floating, the idea is , make a ton of gateways. This lets you warp in more units at a single time.
A good example is this. Huk wants to attack the front while warping in the units in the back on delta, but he also is making collosus. Instead of warping 2 units, he makes extra gateways and can warp in 4 units. This is much more dangerous and requires a larger response and allows huk to do what he wants.
if you are going for a 4 gate all in, then 5 gates is pointless, but if you are teching and want the ability to switch back and forth between tech and gateway units, then you should always build 1-2 extra gateways (on 2 base). This also allows you to make up for any macro you miss and to be more versatile when warping in. (If you miss a warp in cooldown when on exactly 4 gate on 1 base, then you will soon start floating minerals.)
