There's a serious problem going on with that dynamic where tanks counter banelings and infestors extremely well yet Zerg doesn't have any cost efficient counter. They absolutely must have a better eco, which many of the maps do not support. And even with a better eco, much of it is negated by terrain features.

The problem is that without muta's drop ships are going to be so abused that your going to lose anyway. I have tried it and whenever I don't go muta they always drop the shit out of me so easy to abuse when there are no mutas


I'm not saying don't go muta. I'm saying mix in some roaches with them. You see how Nestea would lose 2-3 mutas every time he tried to harass? That's enough gas to make 12 roaches. Can you imagine that every time you take an angle a little too shallow, you lost TWELVE roaches? It's a devastating loss which totally negates being up 1 base or up 10 drones. That's how expensive and ridiculously fragile muta are.

Gas is the big problem for Zerg economy and mutas hog all of it. That's why Nestea's upgrades are always behind MVP's. And then you look at how Nestea loses 5-6 banes every time a tank shoots. Again, that would not happen to 5-6 roaches as quickly. Roaches just add a lot more staying power.

And you look at how the dynamic is supposed to work. Banes are supposed to kill marines. Lings are supposed to help trap them and tank. Mutas are supposed to take out the tanks. Yet, a tank costs fractionally more than a muta, and I quite often see even pro zergs losing 1 muta or 2 to snipe a tank, which makes the exchange barely equal. And yet the zerg risks a much bigger loss even attempting the maneuver. The way terrans have improved, they are able to cover all their shit and zerg can't exploit their maneuverability to pick things off. Marines dps is just too lethal for a unit with no armor and such little hp.

It's as if every time a zerg goes muta, they're taking a gamble. Yet they absolutely must take the gamble to even have a hope of getting their third. That's why once a zerg is able to get that third up and has some eoc, they absolutely need to mix in upgrades and roaches rather than keep dumping money into mutas. Mass muta works vs lesser terrans but vs someone of MVP's caliber, there are just no holes to exploit.
