So I am wondering if anyone discussed Jinro vs MC game 1, where MC attacks jinro with a lot of units (including like 4-5 sentry) and UNLIKE any other game I have watched when he attacks terrans he does not FF around the bunker and scvs manage to repair it (and casters even say how he managed to keep the bunker alive). To me that seemed a bit strange to say the least... almost as he was trying to fail.

I made a comment on page 190 toward the bottom. No one responded so I don't know if I am right on this.

Also, yeah. I wouldn't continue down the road your last statement implies.

i tihnk 6 of the 8 can win all but Foxer and Choya.

ya the guy who has been consistantly placing top4 in every korean tournament has no way of winning the gsl

oh wait, your hate for foxer doesnt mean he cant win it all

I didnt think Foxer would win but he showed today he can make siege tanks, so now I think he could!

(:D)

rofl

There's also a couple of games of last season where he does thor drops!! Although I forgot against who, those games were pretty entertaining.

I'm glad my 2 favourite players got through at least, I thought only one would because of MC.

Yeah, I have nothing against Clide because he's a solid player but I'm glad he's out just because the commentators are beyond irritating everytime he plays a game.

Jinro made an otherwise lackluster season 3 my favourite yet. Now with two foreigners to cheer on and the games getting better this one exceeds even that.

Jinro really seems to be a fan favortie in korea. I mean, the crowd reaction when he won game 1 and game 2 is awesome

And about MC not FFing the bunker in game 1, it would have done more harm than good, if he FF the bunker he traps himself in a choke and he can't go up the ramp anymore, and there are tanks and marines on the cliff. I think he quickly understood that the push failed, perhaps it made him not play his best. Rewatching the games now, it was really one of the best GSL days ever (yeah, we say this everyday this week =) ) Everything was "special" today, builds, winners, crowd...awesome :D

I think it says something that after leaving Foxer's base with 3 medivacs full of marines, Jinro still almost lost his entire army once he engaged MarineKing. The hate is unwarranted.

Basically MK did a reverse all-kill. His team came from 0-3 down to beat OGS 4-3 with MK beating all the OGS members which inluded Zenio, Top, MC and Hero.

Not really. MC had no star power prior to winning GSL3. It wasn't even dramatic, unlike Fruitdealer's victory.

I would argue that MarineKing and Rainbow are just as well known, if not more so than MC.

MarineKing's run in GSL2 had a strong impact on the metagame and was more notable than MC's GSL3 run as MarineKing eliminated tournament favorites Fruitdealer and Rainbow. His Bo7 grand final series against NesTea was a lot more memorable than MC's roflstomp against Rain. Furthermore, that "fake Boxer" fiasco generated a lot of interest in MarineKing.

Rainbow used to be a very famous SC1 player, best known for his reaver usage and impact on the Protoss metagame. He was one of the original SKT players along with Oov and Boxer, the first of SKT Protoss dynasty. Rainbow also made to the final and Ro4 of GSL 1 and 2, respectively.

Jinro is a foreigner. That fact alone is truly crucial if GOM indeed intends for the GSL to become a global tournament. I would argue that the presence of foreigners is much more important than the survival of a former champion.

So really, all four guys in this group are pretty crucial and got a lot of star power backing them. Regardless of the final result, it won't hurt GSL by much. The only thing that would really hurt GSL is if Boxer goes out early.

Yeah, I don't see any link between MC and SC2 chances in Korea. MC doesn't even seems to be very popular, the crowd reaction in both jinro-MC's games speaks for itself.

I don't really understand when it became impossible for players not to play perfectly. It's like everytime a player makes a mistake it must be match fixing. So disgusting from guys.

Anyway great day today. Awesome games awesome Jinro and awesome rematch incoming!

I have a question about people talking about MC's FF decision versus Jinro in their first game versus his usage of FF against Rainbow. Now I don't actually have access to the VOD so I will try to base this on memory so correct me if I am wrong.

Rainbow had 4 bunkers all filled with marines with little to no mech back up and SCV's inbound as the push was commenced.

Jinro had 2-3 bunks with 1-2 actually containing marines, but also had siege tanks on both high and low ground giving support. Plus sent a considerable amount of SCV's for follow up repair. MC I believe chose to spend energy on Guardian Shield.

Retrospective is always 20/20, but in the heat of the moment GS wouldn't have been such a bad decision considering his was mainly zealot/sentry with a few immortals. trying to marginalize the damage the marines could do to the immortals in the few bunkers that were able to be complete and defend at least some of the tank damage to the sentry's and zealots wouldn't have been such a bad thing. Especially if the immortals (and future backup) could come back to clean up the tanks.

Spending FF to block bunker repair would have left the sentries and zealots vulnerable to raw tanking and Jinro could have chosen to repair tanks anyway.

Again, if I am WAY off in my recollection I apologize.

He had 1 bunker with rines in it and 2 or 3 tanks, I believe only 1(the highground one) not being lifted. He also had enough sentries to both GS and FF, given the choice between the two, obviously FF is by far more important, since what's 33% mitigation if you can't break the front anyway. It was horrible play, followed by probably a more devastating play when jinro hellion dropped him. It was bad on semi-pro level, on MC level... He *cough* choked hard.

Wow, Jinro took two games from MC – in a row. And not even cheesing or something.

I must say, I tremendously enjoyed the RO16. There have been almost no "bad" games, I was entertained throughout. Sure, not every game was extremely close – MVP and Choya dominated their group, for example –, but every day had at least half the games being exciting. If that's the kind of quality I can hope for with RO32 over time (you know, without Sad Zenith et al), I'm a very happy camper.
In my head, I'm a 1500 Diamond player. In reality, I don't even know what that means. I don't play SC2. I just watch.

Yes, it was a really bad play, uncharacteristic of MC we seen and loved before. But since hopefully they all played straight this is the only other explanation left to us no matter how funny it sounds. Anyways, to me both MC games looked bad, and I cannot say Jinro won because he was better but he won because MC played bad against him.

I can see Idra winning against Jinro easily if random maps do not turn out to be terran favored like in their bo1 earlier.
