This is a live report thread. It gets spammy. saren't reposting Artosis' tweets with exclamation points just because because they think they'll be the first.

I think half the first round of MLG Dallas was people who didn't show up... or at least a third so about the same as at GOM if 500 of 1500 people went AWOL.
It only looked that way because the bracket MLG used as a template was a 256-player one instead of 128 (no idea why they did that, but they did).

He won the largest tournament ever when Zergs were dropping faster than raindrops. What he did was astonishing and no one ever predicted him to succeed in such a way. No they didn't, but they do now, and now people say he is the best zerg in the world. Yet he almost lost qualifiers. He's prob top10 zerg in the world, but players like nestea (and even zenio) are imo better. Zenio being better than Fruitdealer? Really? I didn't see any play from Zenio that compared to what Fruitdealer managed to do in the first season. Nestea is definitely a great player with great decision making, but I'd still give the nod to Fruitdealer (only slightly at best) since he won the GSL when zerg was actually underpowered and needed help, he was the underdog by a long shot in every ZvT he played. Nestea had a week to prepare for Boxer and he still lost the first two matches to the hyper-aggressive play style of Boxer, while Fruit was the first well known player to see how good Boxer and his style of play were and consequently lost 2-0. Managing to holdout as long as he did in game 2 was amazing, especially with losing his baneling nest on the first push and having to re-drone from being almost down 2:1 in drone count. Summed it up perfectly. NesTea dropped the first two games to BoxeR knowing EXACTLY what was coming, if it was a Bo7, I'm sure FD would've adjusted accordingly like NesTea. FD was amazing when Zerg sucked, and unfortunately ran into FoxeR early on. Put FD on NesTea's side of the bracket, NesTea would've lost to FoxeR 2-0 and we wouldn't even be talking about how FD is no longer a "great" Zerg.
So what changed for Zerg that they no longer suck? Besides Roach range, I'm just slightly confused about this. It just seems to me that players are just getting better at playing the game and FD was the first to do so.

Be snide all you want, but he is right. There doesn't really need to be 50 people copy pasting every tweet.

No, it's the exact opposite. If you had a 5 man tournament, how many byes would there be in the Ro8? Three. Similarly, a 10 man tournament would have six byes in the Ro16. Round - total players = byes. If 1500 people show up, there will be 548 byes, or over 1/3rd the total players. Except they are getting byes in the round of 1024, not the round of 2048. Seeing as they only have to win 4 matches to get to Ro64 and the people with byes only have to play 3 (as iNcontroL described in his blog)

His raw skill basically carried him through GSL s1, 2 roach warrens at a time. I don't think anyone could freestyle in game as much as he does and have the talent to get away with it.
And some of his setups were the most detailed and extensive setups we have yet to see in sc2. His cookbook is polished, it's just his play style is very risky.
Well I don't agree with that conclusion seeing as how much he had to improvise in s1 with the state zerg was in at that point.
