englisch starts with 7 years here.. Because you don´t have the same benefits of knowing english in Korea compared to Europe. this is so remarkably incorrect. also, koreans study english for 6 years during their public education. i'm sure every single one of the players can speak at least basic english, if not better. they're just shy about saying something incorrectly, and the interviewers don't speak in a way that they can understand. for example, in korean, map names are different, as well as units. so they don't know wtf marauder means, etc. I took 3 years of Latin and remember almost nothing of it xD If they can learn basic English in 6 years, good. Most Americans take it for 13 years and still fail at it
pretty much this
of course most koreans know the basics of english, but they don't want to make a fool out of themselves with their probably very basic vocabulary and perhaps poor pronunciation; completely understandable - I've learned 4 years russian in school and don't know anything anymore besides good day, please, thank you and cheers

englisch starts with 7 years here.. 1) Your English is pretty awful. 2) Why can't you speak a word of Korean? What are you learning in school? You ever been to central European countries? Currently I live in Germany and there are a lot of people here (including younger generation) who barely understand English. How does that relate to anything I said? He has more of an excuse for having terrible English than Koreans? What? lol my english is far away from terrible, i dont know why you feel so offended that you try to insult me, but why should the koreans have an excuse for not learning a second language? if its not english it has to be some other language. How do you equate 'learning a second language' to 'speaks fluently for an english interview'?
Most of these people aren't in school anyways.

im "argentino" i took several years of enlgish on school and did no good to me... like at all >.<, i end up learning english by games/chat/forums/movies/series/etc.. :p
in school you learn how to read the basic and understand the ugly pronunciation of your teacher, but it is really hard to understand american speakers with out lot n lot of practice

they do english, but as someone mentioned earlier, as soon as they get 'the grade' they just completely give up furthering on it because everything in korea is... korean and they see no need to work on it any further.
either way i don't see why its necessary to be anally retentive about this issue.

Wouldn't surprise me, I'm sure it's terrifying to play NaDa based on the name alone. I still say his play is very unimpressive. Been far more impressed with Boxer.

The funny thing in France is, if you keep sitting on a bench in a park or something, there might be one French person who sits next to you and starts speaking French while you are trying to say you don't understand french at all. But he/she still keeps speaking French!
I dunno, its funny.

I live in Berlin and I've meet plenty of Germans who speak barely a word of English. Not to mention don't get invovled with the police here if you don't speak German, most of them don't speak English or simply refuse to speak English.
Yeah I've been to Germany and was shocked that almost nobody I met spoke english. Guess that's what you get if you localize every movie/tv show ;p.
Here everybody speaks English. Seriously, everybody.

Must be cause you live in Berlin to be honest..because like I said, living here in Hamburg pretty much everyone does. I've talked to the Police in English before as well, so it's probably just cause you live in the ghetto that is Berlin(haha)

englisch starts with 7 years here.. Because you don´t have the same benefits of knowing english in Korea compared to Europe. hm ok then what language do they learn? chinese? You'd be surprised. Us ignorant Americans don't actually learn a second language in school. I mean, there are classes, but they aren't mandatory, and rarely ever do they actually teach you fluently. I took 4 years of Spanish in high school, and I can pick out some phrases and words, but I can't speak it at all, really. another baseless generalization. i'm a white american and i live in korea, and speak pretty well.
Well, it's a correct generalization. I wasn't speaking for everyone, obviously there are going to be exceptions, but the fact is, compared to many countries who have mandatory English classes, the United States does not have many bilinguals. And, I also think the fact that you live in Korea speaks for your desire to learn Korean.
