GSL 1 ro64 was pretty awful aswell. It really only got good in ro32.

That's because no Terran or Protoss has played a stand up game versus Zerg, and they're so used to having free wins against Zerg that they have no idea what to do with a balanced matchup. Maybe they're not playing "stand up" for a reason.. they can't beat zerg in a macro game, specificly terran. When I see a terran win a pro-level macro game vs a Zerg in GSL i'll shut up, I promise.
We are all theory crafting here, but I really think Terran players havent adjusted to the patch yet. Gretorp explained it pretty well on the last state of the game podcast. The early harass builds were pretty easy to execute and get into the midgame with an advantage. Now that it's taken away, they are beginning to practice macro openings much more. Gretorp said the past week he's been fooling around with 1 rax FE like BW and he is pretty excited. I think we just need to give a little bit of time.

Do you think IdrA just randomly has tourettes and types shit into the chat? No, he gets cheesed, cliffed, etc and bms. Those are called reasons.
Edit: Spelling

Just because it hasn't been done yet, doesn't mean it can't be done. There are still timing windows in the later game that aren't being exploited, such as the long period of time it takes to get ultralisks or brood lords. I know when I play macro games in the late stages that's when I'm most worried.
Also, Terrans and Protoss need to innovate quickly. The patch is over a week old now. Stop doing the same things that don't work anymore (I.E Forge Fast Expand) This is 1.1.2, get a new build order, or get crushed. It's that simple.
I also note that you didn't address the second sentence in the quote.

zerg is just going to dominate this tournament

Can you honestly say that.. + Show Spoiler +the Mothership-game wasn't hilarious?!
But yeah, single elimination and no show-ups in qualifiers (thus getting far without playing anyone) in play here. If it was just feasible to make qualifiers in round robin format..
Also, it's not like GSL1 had anything special in RO64. JSLZenith vs sSKS was the only very high-level matchup in which the other player wasn't completely dominant, as far as I recall.

We should be patient though, starting 2011 we'll have seeded tournaments so the scrubs will pretty much be non-existant as it only includes the top players from the numerous GSL Opens.
More foreigners really need to take the chance to possibly get into the GSL Opens and by that seeded in the GSL tournies in 2011.
Hopefully season 3 is going to be sick from a foreign perspective.

im putting my money on idra to win gsl2.

Yes. Yes, they are. I thought you were implying the reasons were justified, as opposed to just 'causes.'
My bad.

i dont think there were too many upsets to be honest. 2 OK protoss were knocked out by Zerg, and one OK zerg was knocked out by a P. The rest was either "blah, 1 has to advance" or outclassing. I think HongUnPrime getting 2-0ed was a pretty big upset. He played pretty well last season imo. I expected Hongun, LegalMind and Cezanne to qualify easily. Those were the biggest upsets imo. 2 by zerg, and one zerg. I dont feel this is an earth scattering issue just yet.

Sorry I seem to be late to the party, would anyone be kind enough to give me a summary about the whole "Grack" thing with IdrA and boxer?

Clide, Hyperdub, and Polt getting knocked off were pretty big upsets too.

Just like Jason Lee said yesterday, maybe GSL should get a villain. Maybe IdrA and the Liquid guys should go for a "Nexus" as in WWE.
Might be bad for the foreigner scene in Korea, but would make it a bit interesting, seeing as it would be even more Koreans VS. The World. I bet that would boost the Korean ratings at least.
Might be a bit silly. But then again, WWE is rather retarded, but indeed entertaining non the less.

Cliiiiiiiiide, why so bad? Unexpected to see Hyperdub getting eliminated in Ro64.
