ouch, moon and july both not qualifying... sucks for us and for gom. they lost quite some starpower there...
btw am i the only one who thinks that the qualifiers are still too random and unfair? some ppl play against total scrubs while others have to beat several very strong players to qualify....

Welcome to an open tournament. Enjoy your stay.
It's equally fair to everyone, because it's an open tournament, so you have a chance of being matched up against anyone.

They sure are. Imagine if you had three strong players who all could take the game of the other and have the possibility to go far into the tournament. Except now they are all in the same bracket and only one can make it through. Meanwhile some guy has to fight a bunch of no-shows and gets into the tournament that way... I don't like it.

Seriously it does not matter if some dude was good in some other game. If that dude isn't good enough in SC2 to qualify for a major tournament then he does not deserve to be in. Period.
SC2 is a new game for new heroes and new epic stories.
PS: Yay first post! The Lurker was my favourite unit in BW anyway.
Do you follow sports at all? People tend to end up liking certain athletes / competitors / players.
What is your point bro? If my favourite football is rubbish then it doesn't deserve to win anything at all. I would rather see some other team advancing/winning and playing well than my "own" team because I know they don't belong there.
The first three GSL's are preseasons though so there'll be seeding and stuff later on and presumably bracketing will gradually start spreading out high ranked players more evenly.
You gotta realize that in BW there are years worth of accumulated Kespa points that can be used for bracketing, and in SC2 there's nothing.

maybe they should've done it with a losers bracket as well...

im not a fan of single elimination either. i have no idea how GSL seeds but a loser bracket gives the best chance that the top 2 players will play in the finals, with or without proper seeding.

Sometimes players get lucky. Sometimes players you want to see don't qualify. You eventually will play good players and people that show up that want the $85k as much or more than you do.

I have nothing against open qualifiers, but I think the way gsl does them is retarded.
For starters, grids should only be done on day, after a confirmed sign up. Some people having 3 free matches, while others getting none or 1 is very unfair.
Also I don't think it should be single elim, very easy to have 2 deserving players in same draw.
