Which might require the Terran to actually scout the Zerg army composition for once and adapt? Oh noes.
It was clear Tarson hadn't encountered this before, after that game he lost his pedals and it was clear he was toast.
And how people simplify things, it's amazing. Marine/thor/hellion can get countered by mass roaches, zerg can do a simple switch. There is a REASON they make all those marauders you know, to preempt that. And making lots of marines always has the downside of being susceptible to banelings as we have seen a lot in this tournament already. This really complicates matters, all zerg needs to completely shut down terran mech is mass one unit? Quite curious to see what Morrow has in store tomorrow.
You do realize, thors are cost effective vs an equal amount of roaches (1 thor will beat 5 roaches) and if the Zerg is playing right he won't have any money left over to simply "switch" into roach after going muta for most of the game. And if he's already making marines anyhow, he can easily add in marauders as well vs roaches. Also, I've seen Check use this technique months ago in several VODs that have been posted, it really isn't anything new.

and i asked earlier but didnt ger response does flyer attack upgrade also increase the ricochet damage, or just the first glaive?
+1 for first glaive, +0.3 for second, +0.1 for third.
so they get 40% more out of it than other units nice
No, the same as any unit with splash - upgrades affect it respectively. Check in your editor: Data / Upgrades / Attack Bonus. Also to be correct the values for muta are: +1 , +0.333 , +0.111 .
Long time reader of the TL forums, but this awesome tournament made me want to join in on the discussion. Woot first post etc and so on.
Anyways. I have really enjoyed watching the live stream of the tournament so far. I dont get why people complain about the stream. The resolution isnt the best, but I have been watching non stop, with no stutters or lag... and thats pretty impressive considering how many people are watching. And you can easily see whats going on with the standard resolution.
But besides the technical stuff there has been so many epic battles. Even the show matches... Nada vs TLO second match was friggin epic.
But whats up with the aggressive X race is OP discussion? I play zerg myself and I do think terran might have (I say might have since metagame techniques havent come to far yet) too many aggressive openings, but that is a discussion that doesnt belong here in my opinion. And this is mostly directed at the whiny zergs in the thread. Better to cheer for favourites, discuss players and their strats instead of starting another terran is op thread out of this.
Anyways. Cool to see a non Korean tournie with that many spectators. Really gets my hopes up for western E-sports. By far the best SC2 tournament so far.

There's just about no one complaining about it.
There were 5-6 people calling this an exploit a few pages back, and 2-3 saying it should be patched. Also a few saying Thors needed buffed now since they no longer hard counter mutas.
Banelings role is to counter Light units. What would happen,if placing units little different would make banelings not? Or maybe siege tanks, what would happen if static d placed different be immune/not hard countered by siege?
Actually, thank you for bringing up banelings, as this is the same exact thing.
Thors still do lots of damage to the Muta. Banelings still do lots of damage to a Marine.
However, the thor's attack doesn't splash, thus only attacks one Muta. However the Baneling's attack doesn't splash, thus only attacks one Marine.
This makes the Thor's attack much less effective, making them no longer a super hard counter to Mutas. This makes the Baneling's attack much less effective, making them no longer a super hard counter to Marines.
Your siege tank one made no sense, so I'm ignoring it. This doesn't kill Thor's damage, it makes it less splashy.

I don't know if you're being naive or inexperienced here, but mass roaches will destroy any terran comp that isn't relying on tanks or marauders to deal with them. Thors alone won't cut it. And no this technique isn't new. In fact a few weeks ago I have been handing out this youtube link to some zerg whiners to show this technique to people, worth repeating I guess.

I think that we'll see players who commit to 100% mech support thors with ravens for HSM and PDD, which means that 200/200 fights will involve more micro, as Zerg players run from HSM and try to take down PDD without stacking.
HSM is so easy to micro out of though, my guess is terrans will evolve more towards ghost play, snipes to punish muta harass by killing 1-2 every time he comes around for harass.

A Terran also cannot simply tech switch to Marine/Thor/Hellion. If he's going to go that composition, then he is almost certainly committed to it.
A Roach-heavy composition will typically fight on even grounds against Marine/Thor/Hellion, though if it's an end game 200/200 fight you'll probably need Infestors & Ultras as well.
You obviously wouldn't go mass Mutas if the Terran is building a lot of Thors AND Marines. Instead, you'd exploit their lack of Tanks and Marauders. In short, Roaches.

Which is EXACTLY what I just said, do you even read? Not only the adding marauders part but also Check.
Hmm, I have seen many of his games and I have to wonder what are those weak points and in which games/replays are they shown?
Sorry for answering such an off topic post. But back to topic: Even though I kinda want Morrow to win since he is from Sweden, the awesome nabour country of Norway (were I live), I am a big IdrA fan, so when it comes down to it I want IdrA to crush him.
I Actually think IdrA is really great for E-sports. His "I wont take any bullshit, and I dont really care what you think about me" attitude creates so much controversy and it creates hype around the scene. His emotionless bevaviour is also awesome.... a real machine hehe. Gotta love the guy... 90% of his matches he is damn solid.
