Being such a fan usually means you would at least be interested in emulating it? Ask yourself this question... "would MadFrog post nonsense about how BM IdrA?"

Yeah I was shocked to hear this. From my experience, portuguese, spanish, german, and the nordic languages are all wayyy harder to learn.
depends on what level
german, spanish etc. all have a "system" with kinda strict rules - complicated and hard to master, but once you got it you got it; English is just a huge pile of words and structures patched together;
irregular verbs are very common and don't make any sense at all; there is no logic behind in which cases to use "to, from, of, by, at, in" you just have to "know" when to use what; finally the most annoying one: there is again no logic behind when you have to use the "-ing"-form or when the infintivie; aka: IdrA he is good at playing starcraft; he chose to play starcraft in korea; he is fond of playing zerg; wtf?

i as a german can say that english definitely is an easier language than german. in fact, one of the reasons why english is "the world´s language" is that it has a quite simple grammar and the vocabulary isnt too hard, at least the vocabulary needed to get by in everyday situations.
the thing about english though is that it is a very hard language to master. on a high level, english becomes difficult because of the fuckton of synonyms and words which mean basically the same thing, but still differ slightly from each other. it is easy to get the english grammar down and to obtain a sufficient active vocabulary, but to speak english on a really high lvl fluently is hard. im talking about a lvl which is above the everyday conversations of ordinary native speakers....
and btw, as a german i can definitely say that the host (take or whatever his name is) doesnt speak english too well, compared to german standards. ok, most germans have a similar, horrible accent. admittedly, even i have a rather bad accent. but his vocabulary really isnt up to par. u can easily see how he wants to ask more sophisticated questions in his interviews, but fails to do so because his limited vocabulary is holding him back.
on a related but different note, i think its really ridiculous how many of u english speaking guys complain about the event not being completely in english. gamescon is a convention, the economic foundation of this whole event is the live part about it, ie the guys visiting it, watching the events, going to the manufacturer´s info sites and so on. these live visitors obviously are mainly german at an event taking place in germany. it is absolutely reasonable to hold the supporting programme in german. the main goal of the livestreams is to bring u the games themselves, not the programme of the live event. what really matters is provided in english, this should really be enough of support for the international audience imho.

Predictions? Mid game should be interesting if it makes it that far.

Technically German is far easier than English to learn since everything(more or less) follows certain rules. When you hear a German word you know how it's spelled. That is far from the case in English, it can be a hassle to spell even if you know how it's pronounced.
For most of us it's easier to learn English though due to the fact that we're exposed to it daily - through movies, music, internet etc.
