Even when I keep myself from knowing the results when watching a recorded sports game on dvr, It is not nearly the same - I'm sure it's not just me - but good for you i guess.
And to "cheat" problem, see it from HD&Husky's point of view. Someone said it is 1% chance that players will cheat and 1% chance not to be revealed (i do not agree but so be it). So like you risk 1/10000 that someone will ruin all any possible next HDHI, cause no sponsors would sponsor cheat-matches, noone will watch and noone will play?
To be fair, many types of competitions have been relatively unaffected by cheating scandals. Do you predict bw/sc2 wont be able to get osl/msl sponsors because of the rigging scandal now?

Is it going to be done live on livestream or whatever streaming with the replays or are you going to put it on youtube?

me and my friends have a money pool with the brackets. everyone has idra going to the final game, so im gonna pick him to lose vs orb so if idra does lose, i have an extremely high chance to win that money. now to make it even better, i'll just watch the game live, login to sc2, and whisper orb everything idra is doing cause i can see it live.
thats just an example, but my point is, even if the players are absolutely 100% trustworthy, spectators could ruin it.
Just wanted to say great first post.
This pretty much ends the debate, even if these players would never cheat, people could still ruin the game by whispering them whats happening just to be dicks.

Conclusion: Someone else probably deserves his spot. Caveat: If he beats idra the whole tournament will be worthwhile

Can't the players put some 'quiet' setting on and send their replays to Admins who can check for any such shenanigans

Well someone posted already that it doesn't work and people still get messages.

Posting my winrate is a pretty silly thing to do considering half the time I roll Desert Oasis I just hit f10-e-q and take the free loss, and back when I used replay-auto-renamer it would crash me after every game giving me a free loss between every game (aka I'd play a game and the next game I played I'd get disc'd and get a free loss).

Oh God, Day[9] vr Tasteless... why faith WHY AGAIN! dont you like they being brothers or something? wasnt enough that tournament years ago, the tournament that Day[9] finally won after taking down his own blood on the first round??? WHY!
I just watched the Day[9] VOD about his life and StarCraft in case you were wondering...
Beside that the bracket look great and the players WOW the best of the best!, Good Luck to everyone...
Idra is going to play as Zerg? though he was playing toss, pfff traitor... you will come back eventually go put there and experiment other ways of doing what you like, eventually you will get your mind straight...

Come tournament games win rates do not matter. Only the result. Hope to see some awesome games!
I agree with gogogadgetflow regarding watching non-live events, even though I don't know the result I still don't really get the excitment. For alot of sports I don't even bother watching the reps I just check the results and go do something else. Fortunately SC isn't one of those sports so ! GL orb

Orb's micro is very fun to watch. Obviously his macro is no match for Idra, though, and I don't see him winning a series because of it.

What universe do you come from?

Reminder: The games are being played THIS week. Livestreams will be sometime next week.
|
Great ... now I'll watch a game knowing that was played a week ago. I thought it will be streamed 1-2 hours after they will play it. This even looked so promising, now it's like watching replays of it. Seriously this is went too far.
|
Sorry to disappoint you, perhaps you can enjoy some of the other tournaments out there .

LOL, it takes a big man to step up and fight for what he wants. It takes a wiser man to know when to step down and let it be...All the best to all those participating. Heres to great matches all around.

Don't get me wrong, excepting this issue it's the best tournament in beta so far and thanks for hosting it.
But thinking it won't be live ... how can I cheer for a player, hoping he will do something, thinking that all this already happened. It will be like watching a good replay for sure, which is different than live TT.
Well, I tried ... my last hope is that blizzard will add a /dnd option with the next patch, so players whispering in game is no longer a issue and games would be streamed live.

I was really looking forward to watching these games (and still am to a lesser extent) but delaying showing them by a week is really gonna kill it as a spectator event.
|
With these players and these commentators, I am still incredibly psyched about the HDH - live or replay.
I just hate having to wait to see the matches that I am so pumped about.... instant gratification, anyone?

yeh, whats the deal?
