lol, you say its only because of player pool and then say that americans focus on having fun and that asians work hard. theres a reason the mass practicers are odd balls amongst foreigners and not amongst koreans/chinese. their culture promotes a better work ethic than westerners, which means that yes, they are better at video games, and anything else that can benefit from massive amounts of practice.

Having fun is more important then worth ethic.
Without the passion there is no fuel for the fire.
And there is mass gamers in each. But there more common in asia cause of the player pool.
More players playing Around them as well.. Its linked with there enviorment. which is probably fueling the competition more for them...
just speculation tho.

Any intrinsic motivation should do:

Intrinsic motivation

Intrinsic motivation comes from rewards inherent to a task or activity itself - the enjoyment of a puzzle or the love of playing.[2] This form of motivation has been studied by social and educational psychologists since the early 1970s. Research has found that it is usually associated with high educational achievement and enjoyment by students. Intrinsic motivation has been explained by Fritz Heider's attribution theory, Bandura's work on self-efficacy, [3] and Ryan and Deci's cognitive evaluation theory. Students are likely to be intrinsically motivated if they:

* attribute their educational results to internal factors that they can control (e.g. the amount of effort they put in),
* believe they can be effective agents in reaching desired goals (i.e. the results are not determined by luck),
* are interested in mastering a topic, rather than just rote-learning to achieve good grades.

see also Intrinsic motivation and the 16 basic desires theory below.

I haven't played a serious game since the reset so $500 is not really enough motivation to practice for a real match.

I raise to $5000 for a bo5 in 7 days.

We'd also have to come up with some terms to ensure the integrity of the match.

you're dodging, you know full well im not going to throw that much money around and you wouldnt be playing for the money anyway. 500$ for a bo5.

Yes because this is reasonable...

Doesn't smurft seem to think he is "guaranteed" to win anyways? A free $500 bucks then.

The problem with saying things to bluntly is that it comes off as an emotional rant. It discredits your thoughts actually. If you were to pose the idea by citing your experience on all 3 servers and just talk about the facts people might be more apt to believing you.

You really do have a lot of credibility in making the comments you do. You have the most games out of anyone on TL probably and have played on all the servers. Why would you throw that credibility away and go with the angry emotional post. They seems fucking stupid to me.

Maybe Idra needs a translator.

"that makes absolutely no fucking sense. you agree that americans are bad europeans are cheesy and asians are better, and you think its fine to make that opinion public, but its not ok to say it bluntly? how fucking stupid is that."

|

"I beg to differ, good sir. My humble contention, which is based upon my personal experiences and no more, is simply that Americans are presently not the best, that Europeans tend towards an unorthodox play style, and that Asians possess moderately better mechanics. If you would agree that such opinions can be disseminated among the public - for after all we do live in a free society - then surely we are also of one mind in thinking that stating it plainly would be beneficial to our amiable audience? There would appear to be some unreasonableness in arguing otherwise, though of course it could simply be a lapse in understanding on my part, for which I deeply apologize beforehand."

nice sarcasm. Being respectful with your opinions is all I was trying to point out after Idra attacked me for disagreeing with him being an asshole on the internet despite having a good understanding of the game. :S

I will be one of the last poker players to think having money makes me a better person but there is also the reality of things; I'm a poker player and my opportunity cost is quite high. Shall I quit my job for a week to have a good shot at winning a whopping $500? $1000? No, that's too small for me. I've decided that $5000 is what it would take.

If idra is as good as he's making himself out to be he should easily be able to get backers for this bet, if he cannot then my point that idra is not an undefeatable player and in fact quite far from it is already proven.

I think it would be really dumb to back idra because smuft hasn't played since the latest patch and idra has played a ton with his replays everywhere from tournaments.

What? That didn't make sense. It would be dumb to back idra because he's playing so many games and smuft hasn't played??????????

Kage he means Smuft could watch all the replays and know how IdrA plays while IdrA couldn't do that.

I myself believe IdrA would still be a big favorite over Smuft, not like that matters though because I have none of that thing cash. I hope Rekrul or some other baller goes and bets for IdrA though.

im not playing with someone else's money, bet on the match with someone else if you want.
or you could just admit that you know you cant beat me and leave it at that.

You know if idra was more emotionally stable i'd back him with 4500 as long as i got my cut after the games.

Thing is Idra loses 1 game and his game drops like 30%....

I just don't thinks idra can keep his cool if he loses to a cheese or period really.
Even though he's almost certainly going to have better mechanics/skills due to practice time Smuft is a poker player and knows how to keep his cool and thats a big edge in a best of 5.

Idra has the skill but his emotions are his downfall.

TSL ro8

Nony wins game 2 and in game 3 idra cancels a his CC

MLG show match

Idra vs cathon luck

Idra loses game 2 and falls apart the rest of the series.

When idra is winning he is HOT but as soon as he's shaken up a bit it just gets bad and fast.

game 2 was the cc cancel, the "rest of the series" was 1 more game, and the cauthon match was a day after the patch that cut tech lab costs which changed the timings for all his cheeses, including allowing him to rush banshee off 1 gas.

IdrA, just throw in your 500$ and im sure there's people who will throw in the other 4500$, you'll still be playing with your money, and to double it, that should be enough, Smuft has stopped playing and he's careful enough to give you credit enough to say he'll need a week or so of getting back into shape, and to him that is (i believe) at the very least 10k or so, so 5k is a pretty nice deal, dontcha pussy outttttttttttttttt. . . and yeah buddyboy stop talking so big, every single person in my team had beat you at least once this season when you only had 12 losses or so, so we all had RAGE STORYS to share. Smuft vs IdrA SHOWMATCH. 5K is reasonable, IdrA go get some friends, oops scratch that, some people to back you uppppp!!

And the Finals Vs LZgamer?

Crushed him game 1

Game two he went a bit all in pulling SCVs twice which was a little "cheesy" but hey its something you need to be prepared for.

You lose your cool and lost to vikings/marauder game 3.

LZ is good, Hell he's one of the best US players right now tourney wise but that strat did way more dmg than it should have and only because you where still raging over the previous game.

You're Good Idra everyone knows your good but you lose your cool way to fast over things that you should expect or be prepared for.

you get paid to win games bro.

Jaedong cheeses
Flash Cheeses
Boxer sure as hell cheesed

but they WON and at the end of the days its about results.

Stop raging about cheese keep your cool and win some games.

ill put up $500 if he's willing to go for 1k if not ill sponsor a tourney sometime next week for some decent prize money.
