yep you need to retreat and split your bio ball, non-light units could stay not-moving to fire on baneling, and punishing A-move: you want to keep banelings running as long as possible so that as many as possible get shot with bad connection, and make sure they waste their firepower either on non-light units (ideally isolated) or small groups

it's super difficult, and as zerg I always have trouble to split hydras while tons of banelings are coming. But in TvZ it's a skill you need to get, especially with bio-play

Marauders and thors can also be used but never have your army in a ball vs banelings a tip some people do when they have an army of marine marauder is they will stim the whole army control click the marines run them behind the marauders and split from there (Marauders take up to 7 banes each so they are a good damage soak and shield that buy time for your marines to split)
Maru is the best Terran ever.

no one is mentioning this but it's also very important to kite off creep. if you fight banelings on creep you will lose even with good splits. that's why you're supposed to use your army to clear creep first instead of just pushing straight into the zerg.

In my opinion banelings are too powerful against terran bio army for sure, a ball of banelings can easily wipe out entire terran batch without much effort, I guess it forces terran to use tanks and widow mines to attack banelings from distance so that banelings could explode, however widow mines dont tend to quickly enough borrow and shoot, while tanks need time to siege, when widow mines borrow they just barely shoot just after banelings hit. Its a flaw I think.

I have no Idea how to deal with a group of banelings coming in to my marines with marauders, medivacs and mines.

Furthermore, the idea here is how to defend against incoming baneling ball while you are on the move, obviously if you can set up defence you can get tanks set up, widow mines borrowed, army stimmed in time and raven anti-armor missile launched on the banelings before stimmed army, tanks and widow mine shots attack baneling group. However in reality when terran force is moving forward and sees on screen baneling ball incoming on attack move it takes time for tanks to siege, widow mines to borrow and raven needs to be micro-ed to shoot with clicks also stim needs to be pressed with clicks. All of these things take a few seconds and thats just enough time for baneling group to quickly attack and take out almost all units terran holds.

Has anyone tested how raven anti-armor missile would affect incoming baneling group ? Maybe thats the answer ? Get raven anti-armor missile in to them and then stim to kill them quickly ?

Any other strategies ?

Move ur units away from banelings while allowing them to use their ranged attack to attack banelings. You should also move them away from each other, to minimize baneling splash damage

not sure what league you terrans are in, but if you're in lower leagues often you can just control click marines and force move them back while leaving your marauders in front. this trick wastes a lot of banelings if you're playing a low level zerg who doesn't micro. if you're in higher leagues where this doesn't work then you need to learn how to split and kite off creep.

bio vs banelings is one of the oldest unit interactions and it works pretty well. similarly, as a zerg player i could complain that 8 marines under a medivac in a mineral line requires more micro for zerg to defend, but it would be a silly complaint because that's just how ranged vs melee works.

Does anyone know any tutorials on how to control marine, marauder, medivac force ? For example, how to split them ? There are many key commands and such.
Maybe anyone would like to make a short video using dekstop capture mode on OBS using microphone ?

Against banelings? you literally just stim them the opposite direction and start making boxes to spread them apart.. like say you scan ahead and theres a bunch of banes coming you stim back grab half the units move it to the left then cut that half into half with another box and do the same and you just keep cutting your units in half spreading them out until they are in tinier and tinier groups. Vs other units like Zealots and Zerglings you kite. Meaning you run back shoot, as the animation for firing goes off move back again then shoot again it should be a quick constant repeated action. Don't kite banelings if you need to practice splitting go play Marine Split Challenge. If you need to practice kiting open up the legacy of the void unit tester game and grab 2 marines with stim and 2 zealots with +3 armor then spread the zealots apart and have them on hold. One Marine will constantly shoot the zealot the other is the one you practice shooting and moving with the idea is to try to kill the zealot at the same time as the one standing still.

Marine Split Challenge is most likely the answer on how to learn to defend against banelings, is the mode in arcade ?

One big thing is pre-splitting. Get to the edge of creep (or near where the zerg army is) and spread out all your units before attacking. Take a small bunch of marines, stim and run in and attack a bit, to bait the zerg into attacking your concave. By splitting in advance the hard work is taken out of it during the fight.

Pre split army, bait the banelings then retreat into tank range, stand a Thor or some marauders at the front to tank the hits if they a-move instead of right click the banelings
