I think I will try this. Thanks @bobo38 and @canonrush for your answers. I will update the thread once I practiced enough with it.

@canonrush: Your posted link is dead. However I found https://superuser.com/questions/381296/mapping-caps-lock-to-escape-and-control-on-windows-7 which also provides an answer for AutoHotKey.

any option is far better than Standard, and even Grid: don't start with those, one of the issues to switch is to fight against muscle memory

TheCore Lite could be less confusing due to untilted keyboard, left side of the keyboard with alpha characters only and common usage of Shift and Control keys (pinky, like typewriter pro standards). You can give both a try and see what suits you at most

Ok have tried the core 4.0 for zerg right USA qwerty, seems very comfortable what i think maybe and issue and for that i am not 100% sure since i test it only for 1-2 hours is that when you try to jump to a location it is possible to change the CG of that key if you dont push control with swift at the same time.

That happened to me the first hour tbh the second hour that had this in mind and was a bit cautious that was not the case. I think i test the Core version 4.00 and one silly question i dont seem to understand what is the difference between Plus and normal Core.

Thanks for your reply i would check the Discord channel too .

TheCore Plus is same as normal TheCore from a command card perspective, the difference is in the modifier:
– normal TheCore use standard keyboard Control Shift Alt placement
– TheCorePlus need to reshuffle Alt Control Shift on "control shift list/Menu key cluster" with modification of OS behavior

Thanks man

Now i got it , have people in the past had the same issue that i have that sometimes misuses the shift key and then i am creating another control group?

Also if you want to be at a decent level to be able to do a build that a pro does on similar time what is the apm you should need to complete it?

Is it possible through practice to get as close as possible to the optimal time? I want to start practice on arcade trainers and then use salt to get some builds in the start so i can be able to have 3 bases full saturated and be able to do a timed attack up to 6 mins , i think that would help me push myself and have a clue to where i should go at the 6 mins mark .

When i try thought seems so hard to do.

which race are you using?

For zerg, I've been pretty successful up to 40 supply optimizing drone production. The key was to realize that in dead time I can key hatchery selected and hold drone key (alternate for select larvae): as soon as larva pop it's converted into a drone if my bank allow. 3-4 second earlier snowball in real eco advantage. The other key is that most early attack could be defended with zerglings and queens (and bringing workers at need), you want to jump out macro opening when it's necessary (no nat, suspect BO, scouting army going out of opponent)

Similarly you want to build constantly worker for P and T. The trick here is to make sure CC and Nexi queue has 2 units (one in production, one waiting to launch). Ideally you want the queue time as small as possible to avoid 50 mineral seating there for nothing while they could have been used for supply depot or or other purpose… T and P are less reactionary: you need to set up enough production upfront to safely go out of macro opening with a clear plan, planning a push at a given timing is a good way of making sure you're safe at this point in low leagues

One good way to develop good habits is to try TheStaircase method: basically mineral only economy for 2 first steps, 1st step without looking at army (minimap only), 2nd step watching at your base as less as possible, 3rd step 1 gas to make upgrades. You want to reach your target of spending all your money consistently before going to next step. This builds good foundations in spending money money efficiently and in macro cycle that can be reused with high benefits for unconstrained games

For more info look for the TL thread:

I use zerg as race, i want to specify what are the sectors of the game that i really i am slacking to improve those first , can i ask you for a favor?

In sc2 sparring discord server a guy has post a map Search for "SC2 Trainer (Deliberate Practice)" in the MELEE section of the Custom tab. In there there it is an option that you do only zerg queen injects in 4 bases , i have change a bit that map and i do injects and then i spread creap on the map. Can you tell me how much time should a full inject circle last and how fast you are supposed to spread creep and inject the four bases. It has a timer that automatically tells you how much time it took to a full base inject.

Yes i want to go first for macro game too i spend more time in drills and not in optimal build order so i am able to do an attack at 6.30 - 7. mins mark with 3 hatcheries and then go for a 4th one .

Thanks for the advice

I missed one part of my previous answer: APMs do not matter much, as long as you use those you have efficiently with good mechanics; with experience and efficient use your APMs will increase automagically

You can see how fast pro and streamers are doing that… this is what's possible for humans. If you use TheCore 4.0, best built-in inject is base camera based with queen boxing + inject: you want to do this consistently with no error faster and faster, JaK always tells "one error = you're too fast" on the long run precision matters most, resilience to stress will be gain gradually on the ladder, speed is built with experience

Some drills may get you on the right way

As soon as you're laddering, you can watch carefully replay looking at inject cycle of opponent of same skill: you want to outclass those no need to be Serral or Scarlett or some korean guy. If you're stuck in a league and you outclass zerg of this league in inject and early game, the reason is that you suck at some other place

Only zerg plat 1 here, I make my inject in 2-3 seconds for 5 bases, using TheCore Lite built-in method (camera base with queen group and queued inject), my creep spread is crap

How do you solve wandering queens if you have all queens in one group? What you have to look after so you dont have wandering queens? Also you agree on the group build posted on the spreadsheet on Core 4.0?

wandering queens problem is solved with "Stop" command, with shift-queued inject you see those green lines, I use those green lines to see there is a problem

The other tip is to force you to spend larva before injection, it's overall more efficient and buy you some energy margin so that wandering queens issues are less likely to occur:
https://6pool.blogspot.de/2017/12/larva-usage-factor-or-why-you-might-be.html

Also you agree on the group build posted on the spreadsheet on Core 4.0?

I don't understand this question

At the end, it's a matter of personal preference

I mean how groups should organized on which key each group should be bound for example 0 has to be hatcheries , o has to be army , L casters etc.

Another issue is that seems if i dont have specify one location it can then while pressing the cntr+shift move the group to that key bind is this normal for example you have 4 locations and the key K has not be binded in a location control + shift would make the selected unit be bound to this group. Is this a mistake of mine not holding cntr+shift at the same time or is a known issue?

Thanks for you help and your replies

you may be looking for those spreadsheets:

For TheCore: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/140gNhKs_1VCG6JJ9ijvEblKI9UQcpUKDTPap5t_kBeU/edit#gid=821997949
For TheCorePlus: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/140gNhKs_1VCG6JJ9ijvEblKI9UQcpUKDTPap5t_kBeU/edit#gid=386132241

There you can find info for your 2 points:

1. Groups recommendations are written down in each of those spreadsheet

2. Control+Shift have different uses depending:
– create camera with TheCore 4.0
– create/steal group with TheCorePlus (4.0)
this is because the key cluster allows more key combinations

4 issues solved:
– protoss inconsistencies reported by MilExo (psi storm on Space, and RapidFire for Chronoboost)
– LoTV campaign unbound (lift on 5, halt and select worker on 4 – please report any issue if you see one)
– halt unbound after loading Coop after patch 4.2.4 due to Stukov infested terran building

More details in the 4 top issues there:

Changing the keys was too much for me I will keep the default Core Lite which is still fantastic!

One problem: When using the latest hotkeys from your master branch I get a lot of errors in SC2. It complains for example that all control group keybindings are unbound (create, create and steal, select etc.). However when I look into the file everything looks normal. Do you know this issue and how I can solve it? I am currently using the normal US layout.

edit: nvm solved it. I accidentally downloaded the HTML version of the hotkeys :/

I'm curious if any pros use TheCore? If not why not do you think?
