Could someone help me with this problem? I'm in mid-diamond. After practicing the build order in a few games with a friend, I can hit all of these with benchmarks most of the time. The problem is that I don't win a lot of games... Could someone tell me what is wrong with some of my games?

Watched the first game, and you miss on a few things that are really important.
The first one is your scv production is a tad short, 45 @ 10 minutes instead of 50. I notice a big difference in my game when I whiff those few scv's.
The second thing is you're not arriving at his base with +1 and your force @ 10:50 or rallying in your medivacs (which are also a bit late) so you always have fresh ones ready, the idea being that if he's going for templar or heavy gateway tech you can keep up a lot of pressure with the medivacs as support.
You don't get to his base until 12:00 after his second colossus has popped, and his first only pops at 11:00 so there was a decent timing available there.
The third thing is you don't attempt to take a third base until 15 minutes, the difference between a clean third @ 12:30 and one that would finish at 17 minutes is huge.
With a few small adjustments you'll be in much better shape, remember the attack is designed to let you get a third up not kill him (Although that can be possible in some situations.)

I've been following the training schedule you laid out, doing about 10 practice games a day and analyzing each replay and checking my timings vs your benchmarks after each one, writing it all down in my new 'Filter bronze to masters' sc2 spiral notebook (training logbook). My macro and mechanics are clearly improving, and I'm learning so much more about how the game works then ever before. Thank you Filter!

Hello all,
I've always found it to be a fun way to practice this sort of thing when 2 players both do the exact same thing and compete for the most stuff/strongest attack. In this case, what I specifically have in mind is for two of us to both use the bronze or silver or gold builds 1v1 as macro practice, head to head.
Back in the days of Warcraft 2 (god bless her soul), this was basically what we did while 2halling was the only strat people used. Only way to win in that mirror was to out macro the other dude
If anybody's interested, add me, but don't forget to say who you are and why you're adding me
Natespank.698 NA server Platinum league, but I play zerg, so even bronze players can find this sort of match fun I could even follow filter's guidelines such as no micro if you're lower league than me (no need to be easy on me if you're higher league than me though)
edit: added "NA server"

I'm just going to share my experiences here, as a general endorsment and very much a big thankyou to Filter. Feel free to skip it if you're already convinced of what he's done with these tutorials.
I'm a bronze player, new to online RTS. Started playing SC2 last November, but not frequently. Did okay last season getting into the top 8 of my division, generally based on poorly executed fast cloaked banshees with some marines, but this season I was really struggling to get into even the top 25, although I felt my play was generally a bit better (I'd stopped the cheese). Every game felt very coin-flippy and it was not as enjoyable as it should have been.
Yesterday I found these tutorials and spent maybe 4-6 hours watching them and applying what I've learned. I am now rank 1 in my division, where I'm now regularly playing silver and gold and doing pretty well against them. I'm only doing stuff from bronze to silver videos, but naturally I'm using my stim upgrade and trying to micro as best as my 34 year old fingers will let me.
I feel like I've learned how important the value of good macro is. As a newbie you're bombarded with so much information on how to improve your game that it's hard to know which is the most important. Filter knows what is important and he explains it so clearly and easily. It's so easy to be distracted by all the strategy decisions, builds and micro, and be fooled into thinking that's the main thing.
Been watching Day9 newbie tuesdays for ages. I love the show, but most episodes are clearly not aimed at people as new as me. I got more out of Filter's tutorials in just 4 or 5 hours (watching the vids and practice combined) than I have watching all of those shows in the last 4 months or so. Now I feel like in a few weeks I'll have a good enough platform where I can start to learn from Day9 and other good casters.
I recently watched the series Destiny made where he only used Queens and won a lot of games, to support his claim that mechanics was the fundamental thing that players need. That was great, but it was never explained how to actually get good mechanics, and what good mechanics really is. You will find that info in these tutes.
SC2 is very enjoyable now. Not because I'm winning, but because I know why I'm winning, and now when I lose, it is a challenge to figure out, and measureable, instead of 'oh well he did rock when I did scissors'.
Once again, thanks Filter! GL in your future games.

Thank u once again for answering my TvT question, and gonna watch now episodes 13,14 and 15.Just couldnt see them before and only used ur BO for TvP and TvZ and still helps a lot.My improvements is huge.Your Benchmarks are great.Hope u continue helping us,doing this stuff so well. Thanks!
Btw,I try to play TvT w/o tanks, but seems impossible.Hate those 40 mins siege games, where nobody dear to unsiege and move.Tried bio,but was wrong because of marauders, but now will try with your EP13 BO,let see. After 14-15 min,my enemies got bases full of turrets and just cant enter with my drops.I suppose I just need to catch them out of position...
What do u think about adding ghosts with nukes to break Siege Contains?Blizzard is preparing something for HotS like large range missile to avoid contains of tanks in TvT.Cant Ghosts do the same, but maybe with upgrade as in BW with their range of Nukes?

i'm just wondering: before pushing out before the 10 min mark do i need to put more bunkers down and play defense until my units are ready? i've died to busts and not have enough bunkers to deal with it.

This falls under scouting. If you know a big push is coming you can put down more bunkers if needed and pull scv's etc. Otherwise it's a waste of resources.

Filter thank you very much for posting these videos , they've been extremely helpful for me. The last 2 seasons I've been trying Terran with very limited success, and being stuck in the silver league ( rank 30ish ). I spent 2 days watching these videos and taking notes , after that spent another day just playing against the cpu on easy and just practice the benchmarks you laid out.
After I got them down , I hit the ladder and sense then I'm 20-2 ( lost to 2 DT rushes lol ) . And I'm currently #1 silver and have been playing mid plat's for the last 2-3 days with moderate success. My only question for you is could you add to the video when to throw down the xlabs & reactors on the barracks ??
Thank you again Filter !!!!!!

He makes it seem so easy lol

From my notes from the Silver video, you drop the 2 reactor + 1 tech lab as soon as you have 125 gas (100 gas if you are going 2 tech lab, 1 reactor). Then once you have 100 gas again make the factory, then get a 3rd gas.
Thanks Filter -- I haven't had time to ladder recently, but I have been playing the hell out of the AI. I'm most appreciative that there are clear benchmarks I'm aiming for in my play rather than judging based on feel. Looking forward to laddering when I finally see a night off soon!

The reactor/tech labs thing is personal preference. I like having an extra two-four marines out personally. You'll see a lot of pros get double gas, then the two barracks but I feel like the added marines and mineral mining time is more beneficial... however I am starting to think in TvP I should be flipping them over as I've been killed by a few really early gateway all ins (4gates, weird timed 4gates).
But you just throw the addons down when you have the gas for them, it'll time itself naturally.

First of all thank you so much for this guide yo. I've been diamond since season 1, and with this I'm hoping to finally get to masters. (I'm up to video 15, though I'm only doing one style per matchup in order to maximize my effectiveness.)
Second of all why not update the OP with videos 9-15? I didn't even realize they existed for a while lol.
Now here's the thing I'm having issues with: (about mid-high diamond on the ladder)
- I find that when I scout so late (after the barracks) I am often too late to get significant intel. Especially on maps with multiple spawn points, I often get caught by lings, marines or the first stalker if I am unlucky with my inital guess as to where he has spawned. He could be doing anything, and if I can't get into his base here is my next state:
TvT: I'll scan at 6 minutes, see what's up. this is the smallest problem. TvZ: There are really two times when I need to scan to be sure there is no allin coming, about 5:30ish and about 8:30. The first scan would spot if he's mined a lot of gas, in which case it's going to be some kind of RR or bust. the second scan will tell me whether or not he's going for a massive Tang style bust with ling bling roach (I know he isn't if he's making a lair). I really can't afford two scans, so I'm kind of stuck. TvP: If I don't get in to his base I am generally screwed. A scan is often meaningless, because if he went for a weird tech build he would hide the tech in a corner where i won't see it with a scan. I usually try to sneak another scv into his natural to see if he expanded, but good players will have a single stalker there to stop me, unless I hit in the exact timing he moves out with his first stalker. So I'm kind of screwed if the P is in the 4th position I scout.
Also I keep losing to aggressive zergs and greedy protosses. I feel like I don't have enough scouting information due to the lack of early hellions in TvZ, and I never have enough time to throw down additional bunkers. this means I lose to all kinds of bling busts. Roach rushes I can usually beat because I can repair my bunker with a quick pull. In video 14 you beat a bling bust by immediately pulling all your scvs + army ack into your main. However sometimes the zergs I play will first drone to 40, then bust with only 6 or 7 blings and then go back to drone. That means if I sack my natural I will probably be behind.
In TvP i find that some protosses simply stop producing units when they scout my 1 rax expand, and just rush to chargelot archon as fast as possible. So when I hit at 10:30 they already have archons and chargelots. I don't have enough marinesto do the DPS, and ghosts are a few minutes away.
I know I should give replays, and I will later. Just wanted to write out some of the problems I was having. Once again, thank you so much Filter for doing these tutorials. You really helped me understand what's holding me back from masters. ^^

This is brilliant filtersc. As someone who doesn't play very many games, like 10 a week at most I've slowly worked my way up from bronze to gold where I knew I would have to start mapping my benchmarks and try to improve upon myself to push myself to platinum and higher and here you have done all the work for me. So as someone who doesn't have that much time to commit to sc2 these videos have helped me to continue to improve at a nice rate, thanks!

Hello Filter,
I just wanted to thank you for doing this series. I'm a zerg player but I've been applying the same kind of logic to my play (using benchmarks and more mechanical orientated play) and I already feel more comfortable playing. I'm not executing it as super well yet but I feel like I'm finally getting a deeper understanding of the structure of the game and how different periods of play slot into one another. Makes you feel like genius.
I'm also toying around with Terran, and these videos have certainly helped me a ton with that. My entire approach has changed.
Thank you sir!

I'm a top 8 gold zerg, watched these vids, practiced the benchmarks with terran, made a smurf account, Got in platinum rofl. This series helps with alot of things for any race you play. Made me realize the only reason I've been winning was because of my half-ass macro, decent micro, but crazy tactics lol. Overall though, badass video series. For the people looking for the continued videos, look him up on youtube. You will find those there

Really nice thread, and I love the videos. I really need to work on my scouting ><

Great videos! I have improved so much by just following your benchmarks!
You mention replay packs in your video, where can I find those?

click on replay packs and search for "filtersc" I have the bronze, silver, gold ones up and I need to label and post the plat/diamond ones still.
