Hey guys!
I was wondering if anyone else had problems with their ctrl key and F1? It seems very odd, but whenever I want to mass select my idle workers I cannot. I can hold ctrl and click on the portrait but I cannot hold ctrl and press F1.
Is there any fixes to this/is it even broken?

Check your hotkeys its probably there
|
I already did check my hotkeys, there is no option for "ctrl+F1" however I have seen pros use Ctrl+F1, and if logically, ctrl is to select everything, F1 is to select workers, it should work.
|
you can always redo your hotkeys. I changed mine from ctrl + f1 to ctrl alt for mass selecting workers. Since I have health bars always on, I thought that ctrl alt was way more efficient than ctrl f1. It takes some getting used to, but once you do its much better imo

Is it a laptop keyboard or a full desktop keyboard?

Its a Full Desktop Keyboard Logitech G11

Isn't the idle worker command simply f1? I always used shift f1 to collect idle workers until I bound it to ` instead.
*Oh, I see. Yeah, the "control" command is just for selecting units in vision on the map. You can still hold shift and f1 or whatever you bind it to. It takes a tiny bit longer, but it works.
|
But it isn't just my vision, if I have 30 idle workers, and I hold control and I click the portrait of the "idle workers" thing on the left side, I can select all 3 at once regardless of their position, however I cannot press ctrl+F1 which is relatively the same thing.
If anyone does use Ctrl+F1 could you please let me know how you do it?

Did we confirm that your "idle worker hotkey" is actually F1?? That could still be the bane of your existence
|
Check your hotkeys maybe you have ctrl + f1 as a bind for something else.
|
I remapped F1 to ` a month ago, and i use ctrl+` to select idle workers like you describe.
I did notice something a bit strange with the start of the new season, sometimes i would try to do ctrl+` and it wouldn't work the first time, but it went away after a few games. I think it's just a bit of lag and me letting go of ctrl a little bit too early.
I would first check your in-game hotkey setup, then check if your F1 key isn't broken or if you have something stuck under there.
|
I have Ctrl + F1 set as my set location 1, that probably was the problem I'll remap it and see if that fixes the issue, I just remember a long time ago I set it to Ctrl+F6 (or whatever) for the set location, and I still couldn't Ctrl+F1 my workers :| I'll try again.

This is a little of topic but when I try do ctr + f1 or another kind of hotkey sometimes windows decides to go nuts and when I press 1-5 it will open whatever I have open in windows, and not the hotkeys I made. So I press 1 it will open firefox, 2 foobar etc... and im forced to leave the game. Anyone know what hotkey combination activates this and what disables it? Thanks for the help. Im using windows 7 also.
|
What you are doing is bumping the windows key and based on what you are saying you have windows 7 because that is a shortcut for it. Just disable the windows key or try to b more careful about what keys you are pressing in the heat of battle. It's just something that you have to get used to, not hitting the windows key, I can't tell you how many games I've done this ( hitting the windows key). I now have sc2 in windowed full screen mode to make sure that my game doesn't lag. If you haven't enabled that feature under graphics settings you should. Hope this helps

its in your hotkeys, you must have changed it at some point. I use ~ for my idle worker button, and ctrl+~ to select all idle workers.
Look under hotkeys and find "idle worker" it should tell you there.
