I am a high gold level zerg and I want to know good opportunities to take a third and fourth or just expand in general. My standard build is 14 hatch 15 pool.
I always expand when I make a large push and when I hold off a major push but too frequently when I do this, I find myself on the same number of bases as my opponent. I always get the faster second but as a zerg, I want a faster third too. If he does a mini harass push with like 6 marines and I kill it, is that good enough reason to expand? If I see that he is expanding, then I immediately expand as well but I want to take a third without waiting to see if he is taking a second. Do you any dimond zergs have some tips on good times to expand other than the death push?

To my knowledge, the best time to expand against either Protoss or Terran players is when they see your Spire, or when they see your ball of Mutalisks. More often than not, they will spend most of their time defending their mineral lines and other structures as you take an expansion.
Instead of doing a "death push", you can instead keep your army parked outside of their base (Although expanding after eliminating their army is also a good idea most of the time). During this period you'll usually be able to take an expansion, and your opponent won't move out until he knows he can kill your army outside his front. When this happens, you can usually slow them down enough while not losing too many units, and by the time they arrive to your base, you should be able to deal with it.
There are some Protoss and Terran builds such as a Forge FE or a 1-Rax expansion where you can safely take a third on certain maps such as Metalopolis or Shakuras, since those builds certainly mean they won't have a stable army very quickly.

Expand when you are high on minerals but low on gas. You want to do this because when you get a 3rd, 4th or 5th base you have tech that needs a high amount of gas, so spend the extra minerals on new hatches and your game will improve a lot.
There is some truth to the poster above, but if they spot a spire building then they will generally try and end the game right there because your income is sky rocketing but your army is lacking. You want to expand AFTER mutas pop for the obvious reason of map control. After that, just try to keep your min/gas ratio as close as possible to afford more expensive units and tech. When you are high on gas you tech, upgrade or make lots of gas units. When you are high on minerals you expand.

Standard 3rd timings in ZvT usually coincide with your spire.
For ZvP, it'll be when roach speed finishes.

The idea is always to be 1 expo ahead of your opponent, meaning if you are on equal bases, you need to expand as quickly as possible. As mentioned above, when your spire pops is generally a good time as they will likely be defending their base for a minute or two, giving you a window to pump drones and expand. If they take an early expansion, then take an early third as soon as you can. If they take a third, take a fourth when it is safe. If you are on equal bases then you are behind.

expand anytime you think its safe to do so!!!
expand when they expand
expand after holding a push
expand while pushing
expand while harassing
experiment with the "ninja" expansion.
as zerg during the midgame i will usually send 2 drones out when my minerals start getting high and double expand. if one gets taken out you still have a third up and once on 6 gas shit starts getting exciting lol.

easy, expand when you have map control if you are going muta banes against terran, get third after spire If you are going roaches against toss get 3rd after roach speed and push i would suggest getting a macro in base hatch first then a third

In diamond you would usually take a 3rd against terran about halfway through spire. Against protoss it changes (based on map and build), but mostly it's after you get both bases saturated. But in gold I don't know, I've seen some crazy stuff in gold league, you should thoroughly scout your opponent to determine when it's safe to expo.
