Mostly this is a strategy I use in ZvP, although it might work well in the other matchups as well. I'm a fairly high level player, not top 200, but within the top 400. Yes I have lost with it, because I'm bad, but I think that it is impossible to lose a ZvP with this strategy, if it is fine-tuned.
I'm not going to outline a build order, because it doesn't really matter. All you need is your main, your natural, and a lair, which you should have at some point anyways, sooner or later depending on your build.
-Nydus to both expansions, maybe both at once, maybe one fast and the other a little slower. The reason this is so strong is you don't need to alter your playstyle to do this - you can defend the expansions from drops or void rays by sending hydras or roaches through the nydus canals, so its almost impossible to destroy them. Also this leaves you only having to defend your one choke at your natural. Use the strong economy to just go mass mutas and win the game.

If you're going to suggest a strategy of some sort you might want to include a replay. Saying "just get hydras and nydus canals" is about as vague as saying "just get broodlords, eventually and you should have no problem winning". I would love to see the nydus turn into something that people use a lot. Looking forward to any expansion of this strategy.

So the strategy is - Get expansions - Get Nydus - Win That sounds really good. I'll give it a try and see how it works.

this sounds so stupid and is just wrong imo. Just because you can save all your expansions (IF you can, which I doubt, as nydus drops units much too slow to protect any base from an attack) doesnt mean you can hold off his main army with yours. How is this a "winning strategy" if all it really is, is a (maybe) better way of defending your expos?

Didn't Dimaga lose to White-Ra using this strategy when White-Ra just blinked into Dimagas main and killed him.

Instead of trying to hold the choke at your nat with spine crawlers while you go mass mutas, I prefer sticking with hydra/roach when you take the islands, because its less susceptible to 2 base blink stalker play, and you can still use the nyduses to defend your island expos, which lots of people forget. I'll update this thread with a replay later today, didn't have one on hand at the time.

and why are you taking the islands instead of other expos?nydus is quite expensive and i would rather invest into overlord ups
i agree with the others here - without some reps its hard to see the advantage of this

i agree with the others here - without some reps its hard to see the advantage of this I'll post the reps, but nydus has the advantage of allowing you to take them faster than you would be able to with overlord ups, being able to defend them easier without having to wait for an overlord to pick up units and drop them on the island. Also if you take other expos they are more vulnerable and you would need to build many more units because your opponent could easily attack any of your 3-4 bases, but with the islands you really only need to worry about your choke and defending your main from blink stalkers while you get ups and a roach/hydra army.

Its also kind of hassle to reinfoce ur army from ur island expo maps. Takes a lot of multitask apm to have ur island hatchs produce armies and reinforce the mainland

That is a great plan for lost temple. I do a similar strategy with terran where i fast expand then take a fast 3rd on the island. For both expansions i get planitary fortresses and turrets works like a charm even if they take many more expansions. I can still sit back and make my ball of death asap and move out while taking a gold expo.

dimaga actually did this vs whitera in blizzcon. he double expanded to the two island expansions but in exchange, sacrificed his army for his economy. dimaga lost the fight but i think he wouldve held whitera's push if he didnt double expand. so what i recommend here is, expand one at a time other than that, this build is BALLS !

Wouldn't reinforcing not be so bad if you set rallypoints of island hats to the nyduscanals? THen you have an army constantly waiting in your network?
