This is embarassing. And no, this is not a troll.
2v2 on LT. (us)TP vs TT.
20sec into the game 12SCV enter my base and start attacking my probes. When I move away, they attack my nexus. When I come back to defend, they counter attack.
All I got is a Pylon, and I can't build a Gateway since I got 15 mineral and am not mining.
I asked my partner for help and he sent his SCVs too... And got owned.
After the shock, the rage, and then the hysterical laugher passed, I tried to figure what could've been done against this retarded move.
If my partner stayed at home and econ'd up while saccing me, they could've just got back to their base and that point it was a 2v1. They would have been behind, but still it would've been 2v1, with the option to pool resources on one guy to get a lead back, pumping ressources safely from an island expansion thanks to their flying CC.
I feel really stupid because I don't even know what I'd do if it happened again. I searched for this cheese and didn't find anything so either it's new or it's too retarded to even be considered remotely viable cheese. Of course as Terran I would've just loaded my SCVs and lifted, but since Protoss are apparently not technologically advanced enough to make their nexus fly... I was stuck there with the choice of either watching all my probe die outnumbered, or watch my nexus go down.
This is not QQ, I'm actually curious. I was supposed to flee my Probes and hope for my partner to come assist, maybe?

lol i think in that situation your partner should've teched and play safe, give you some money to expand somewhere else maybe
|
Your partner should have let you die, made 5 units, and killed both enemies.
|
you prob could have run ur probes out and have your partner get 1 reaper and it'd prob be over
|
flee with your workers, let ally tech to basic t1 units and then crush them easly.
|
Your partner knew neither of them would have a marine until about the 5 minute mark, and they couldn't afford to wall. He should have gone 2gate and sent zealots to each base, which would tear the SCVs to shreds.
If he was terran, then the same thing except with marines. Or, hell, built two reapers - imagine getting 2 reaper's in the opponent's base before they start building a barracks.
So the answer is "almost anything except what you did"
|
If you're the one being rushed, just keep microing your workers, attacking the enemy workers when the attack your main and pulling back when they target your workers. Your ally just has to tech up and counter attack, it should be a pretty easy win.
|
Sometimes using your partner as bait and letting him get stomped is the best course of action. I've had to do it in a handful of team games, just to buy enough time to field the units necessary to take them on. It sucks, but there ya go.

Yes. Furthermore you should have ran your probes out and waited until your ally could give you the min necessary to warp in a nexus somewhere but really your ally should have been able to kill them both without much issue.

the point is the terrans lifted to the island bases, so his partner would've had to tech for a while to be able to take them out
but I'm pretty sure the only solution is to let you die. Perhaps you could keep your probes to help defend your partner, but you really gotta rely on him after that.

If they float to the island they lose even more mining time. His partner can easily go 1v2 against people who haven't been mining for the first few minutes of the game. They will have 0 economy and 0 army for like, ever.

Drones beat SCVs AND probes in 1v1 battle... it seems like a zerg would be able to execute this rush better (and have more drones too due to faster production)

Kill the player still on the main map with marine/mar then just make medivac and drop the island. Shouldn't take very long at all.

Partner lets you die, gets one banshee, shares control. You kill one of the guys. Now it's 1v1 with your partner having more tech and a better economy.
Similarly in 4v4 when they all rush one of us, we usually feel like we end up ahead because then that guy becomes the dedicated microer and rapes every battle.

This happened to me, sort of. I was Z, team mate was P, opponents were TT. I desperately ran my workers around, surviving and trying to stop them from damaging drones and hatch too much, but I naturally ended up far behind. My team mate kept building up as normal, just adapted to be able to pressure them hard and early. After a while their SCVs all mysteriously ran away, and I could go back to work, with a greatly crippled economy. After that one of my first overlords sails over a gold expansion and lo and behold, there's a command center with SCVs mining and a growing base.
Turns out they had both lifted off to gold and were just attacking while waiting for their shit to get in place. It was funny but they really had no chance of winning with my teammate in a commanding lead and knowing where to send his forces.

My friend and I wanted to get the 2v2 as Terran for the achievement - we SCV rushed and flew our command centers up. The Terran lifted off; my friend followed him around (no islands on this map) - I destroyed the Protoss player, landed in his base, and started mining.
The Terran was able to get out a few marines via excellent use of micro to mine some minerals, but it was all over. It felt kinda bad.
In other news, if you watch the first QXC Team Liquid Attack you can watch some excellent response to an SCV rush.

also u can run ur probes into his base and use them to kill the SCVs he is mining with while ur partner techs

This. If your micro is good, split up your probes into both their bases.

Yeah the secret when they do this, is you die and your partner rapes them both because they don't have an economy or tech or anything.
