Is it illegal to use a non-standard version? 1) In StarCraft, progaming is done with Korean keyboards (for obvious reasons). 2) Games, not keyboards, store key bindings. Short of making your own control board, and thus in turn keyboard, you're limited to a few layouts. 3) We are talking about key BINDINGS, not keyboard layouts.

So all BW progamers in all Korean leagues use the default hotkeys. I think that's fair, and should stay like that. This also means whoever customizes hotkeys (in some way) is not taking the game seriously, and is on the level of maphacker and the like. Basically wasting their own time. And, since all major international tournaments are played with standard US keyboards, learning on another layout is useless for anyone who is being at least a little bit serious. Stupidest thing Ive ever read. Customizing hotkeys is now equivalent to cheating? Horrible, horrible analogy. And to say all tournaments force you to play with default keys is absurd, you have no idea what rules tournaments will have. Forcing people to use a predefined set of hotkeys is a huge step backward in competetive gaming. If people want to argue that it evens the playing field, they are wrong because customization also evens the playing field by allowing EVERYONE to customize to their liking. I will be using customized hotkeys regardless of whether tournaments allow it or progamers use them. Let them whine that they spent 5 years learning a set of keys to someone else, this is 2010 and any game where you can't fully customize your keys is archaic. Not allowing hotkey customization is like forcing you to shoot a certain way in basketball Not allowing hotkey customization is like forcing you to punch a certain way in boxing/mma Not allowing hotkey customization is like forcing you to kick a certain way in soccer No thanks
