Information
I created this 2v2 map for the SHOUTcraft Clan Wars 2, and I for that reason decided to experiment with unusual features. Gates block vision and movement, and are periodically retracted. All gates open/close themselves every 2 minutes throughout the game. The layout is built around spread out bases and dynamic army movement. Aesthetically, I opted for some unusual features as well: Supermagnetic rails above a surrounding force field have high-speed protoss vehicles passing by, and various structures are caught within an icy environment. I highly recommend checking out the aesthetics in-game for the full experience.

Awesome map! Really like the retractable doors, changes the flow of the map periodically, but I think it might give blink a bit of an edge with being able to negate that, but honestly this is still really cool. :D

I don't know if this is overkill, but what if the icy parts also had minimum-graphics snow effects and caused a very slight slowdown to all units?

Real nice to look at.

Contrast between the low and highgrounds is simple but effective, besides the other things which are also pretty.

Gates seem cool, hopefully any games on it go to macro so that they come into play a lot.

Early versions actually periodically alternated between gates closing and the lowground freezing, but I eventually decided to remove the latter as it didn't feel right, especially with the many bases on the lowground. Could perhaps work with a different layout.

Although the gate feature does have a bigger influence as the game progresses, early/mid game is still largely impacted by the two nearest gates. You need to be careful to not end up in a really bad positioning when the gates go up/down.

the main mineral lines are too close to each other, workers mining from the mineral patches closest to your teammates' line travel between the 2 while mining

The background looks pretty nice, but I really hate the Terran Painted Line thing. Looks really off imo. (And square cliffing ㅡ.ㅡ)
