This is an attempt to make the unteamed mapmakers not feel left out. Obviously, we cannot have all of TL join a skype conversation, but IRC suits this perfectly. for those who are unfamiliar with IRC (internet relay chat), it is a chat system which you can cannot to via standalone clients like MIRC, browser plugins, web based clients or some instant messengers. It may seem extremely nerdy, but it is actually pretty handy. I personally use the MIRC client. You can have it open all the time and minimize it to the system tray. It also uses very little system resources. Btw, the #teamliquid channel on quakenet is also a great place to ask for feedback or find players to test maps.
Let's see if we can get this channel filled up and bring it to life. If not, we can all just pretend this has never existed. So please, if you can, join and idle #sc2maps on Quakenet.
Last time I used MIRC was like 3 or 4 years ago when I was still playing CS 1.6 all day. It was the only way to get scrims! I suppose I could start to idle again.
Reading the chat in that picture it looks like it might have been the same way for Arch.
Looks cool, I'll try to check it out. I don't hold anything against the teams whatsoever, but it really does feel like there's a level of communication that helps to make their maps stand out so much. This looks like a good way to sort of close that gap.
you either down load a programm like mirc (which i recommend). or get a plugin for your browser like chatzilla for firefox. or you need a multi messenger which supports irc as well
Will hang out there. As for an IM to use, I have been using Miranda IM for several years now and I'm quite pleased with it (and it is free to use, no shareware, no nagscreens).
