the word/strategy was kind of popularized by the nazis and it is somewhat linked to the invasion of poland.
it isn't as bad as naming the map hitler, but at least in germany alot of people are easily offended by anything named after anything related to the nazi era. same goes for holocaust, gas chambers, work/concentration camps, etc.

as for myself. i don't care. i know it wasn't meant to sound offensive in any way. so let's not derail this thread

Yes, when you here Blitzkrieg you think about WW2 and especially the invasion of Poland.
The vast majority of Germans try not to be related to this stuff whatsoever and would rather not have anything named with Nazi terminology. Also we have a bit of a bad relationship with Poland cos of WW2 and that first "Blitzkrieg" so I'm not sure if the Polish community likes it either.

As I said I personally don't care, I don't believe in political correctness to this degree. But be aware that many people can be offended by this (and maybe tournaments will not allow this name, especially German tournaments).

New version up. Did the whole thing while streaming so you can check out the video in the link in my previous post.

Changelog:
-Moved bottom third a bit further from natural and increased the size of its choke points a bit.
-Changed textures
-Removed two center expansions and made one in the middle
-Modified center highground design
-Made fifth base cliffs unpathable
-Increased size of the big middle ramps by 1 each.
-Anything else I missed

I'm thinking of adding an island base between the mains. Please tell me what you think about that.

Since you expand towards your opponent with the last base on bottom, an island would probably be a good alternative for Zerg. If you block it a bit at least, so Terran can' get there early, have a free base and spam turrets.

I like the other changes, looking forward to see this map being played : )

I'd do that, but then you can hit the CC/hatc/Nexus at the 6 base with tanks.

New update. I touched up deco a bit. Don't expect too much. I opened up the mid-level choke in the middle and pushed back the high ground further and opened everything up a bit more. I also moved the watch tower down so it can't watch the small choke anymore, but it can still see all the movement that goes through the mid-level area.

I was quite suprised by name "Blitzkrieg" I was like oh noe here we go again... In general people out of Europe will see nothing bad about it, some europeans will be upset or disturbed but in the end no one will give a big fuck about it I guess. Luckily U are canadian so no big deal, however there is sooo much to choose from when naming a map I just would like to see less history more starcraft plz ^^

This is a remake of a BW map named the same way. Was he supposed to call it Crossfire 2? ;p

I really don't know what you guys are saying about "the small choke not mattering". It could be extremely useful for flanking or backstabbing as zerg.

The map looks good. Kinda looks like a forced top spawn on Shakuras. Great map!

A question for purposes of learning Neo --

In brief, can you explain how you made the small choke usuable by non-large units (I'm assuming that the choke is 1 - 2 cells wide) -- I struggle with shaving off single cell areas on terrain so I'm curious if it is only 1 cell wide how you did that.

The only thing you need to do is make sure there's only one grid of pathable ground between the space and the high ground. Pretty easy to do if you enable the grid in the map editor and/or enable pathing view.
