I don't think blizzard fears selling less Hots expansions because of this map. As soon as hots would have been released nobody would have played this mod anymore. There is so much new stuff with Hots (e.g. ladder, campaign, blizzard dota etc) which will be reason enough to buy it.
I think they were worried that the beta gets less hype and less participation. if anybody can play it as a custom map it doesn't make too much sense to make beta key contests and marketing stuff like that. It obviously sucks but i think it's still a reasonable request from blizzard.
I am looking forward to your new other project/map XenoX101.

The game does not have the models which is understandable: And good, since it's not made by Blizzard, so I think people still look forward to the beta. Also, the mod doesn't support all maps - Beta would. Although this is super interesting and I regularly try it out - I'll also look very forward to the beta!

1- That you could just make a mod that is basically the entire multiplayer component of their upcoming expansion shows that their expansion, in terms of multiplayer, is nothing but them toying with some models and the unit editor features of their maps. 2- Your mod was so similar to the planned expansion they made you take it down- apparently, you do their job as well or better than they do.
What are we paying them for? Let's get the Starbow guys some funding so they can get full time testers and designers, apparently there's no difference between blizzard and them/him.
Honestly, depending on the execution of it, starbow looks a lot more promising than hots anyway... actually, might go play a game now... I feel I should dispel this common misconception. 1- Of course that's all you need to do to make the new units. As powerful as the editor is, what did you think was really needed? 2- It's similar for a reason, he's copied it number for number. Of course it's going to be completed faster than when Blizzard did it, because Xenox wasn't designing the new units and coming up with the numbers from scratch. Blizzard has done literally all of the hard work, analyzing the roles that races need filled, and coming up with units that fill those roles without excessive role-based overlap. I've seen lots of people bashing Blizzard for this, when it's a frankly idiotic complaint. You go design LotV then, if it's so easy. edit: I don't mean to degrade the work you've done at all, Xenox, just the opposite. The thing is, Blizzard has given the word to take it down, as is their absolute right, and people are brooding it more than is necessary, and hating where it isn't necessary. That is because people don't stop and think for a moment to see why they are doing that, but just see something that they don't like and start screaming "F**K YOU BLIZZARD!".

lets hope tomorow morning on 3 am hots beta begin i hope so balizard cuz if you dont do it you are bad people

Is there a place to download the latest version of this mod/map?
How will blizzard go about removing it from their servers? Couldn't people still publish it under a different name, or publish it privately to play with friends?

Ok guys the maps have been taken down now. Also I actually meant to say 3:00am CST instead of PST, my apologies if this affected anyone's schedule. Either way the maps had to go down within these hours. Thanks to everyone who played and supported the map, and I hope everyone who wanted to had a chance to play it in the past few days (I personally had a lot of fun playing some 4v4s and the occasional 1v1). The next HOTS content you will experience will naturally all be from Blizzard, as the HOTS Beta arrives and we brace ourselves for the full release with all the HOTS Beta content that's bound to come up. It's been a ton of fun working on the maps though, and hopefully we can do it again with Legacy of the Void, depending on Blizzard's stance and the kind of information available in the press releases; though of course that will be in quite some time from now .

Thanks XenoX101 for all your work, I had a blast playing them!!

what kind of a dick move is that from blizzard? "Cant let everyone enjoy beta" If there'd be enough spots in their betas, id get it, but we know that most of us arent getting beta any time soon

I was always wondering what Blizzard would do to maps like this. I guess I see part of their reaction now, just a bit delayed.
I'm still wondering what they're going to do when someone shares the map they made and hundreds of people are uploading it to play — bans?

Hello, yes I've noted the changes as they are quite interesting, here they are below.
ZERG
Hydralisk - Speed boost off-creep reduced to 25% from 50% (so now it is still slightly faster on creep)
Viper - Movement speed increased to 2.95 from 2.25
Locust - Attack speed increased to 0.8 from 1.2 (technically does 50% more damage than before) - Range increased to 3 from 2
Ultralisk - Charge now requires an upgrade - Charge deals one swipe of normal attack damage upon arrival - Frenzy has been brought back
TERRAN
Reaper - Reaper health reverted back to 50 from 60 (it was buffed to 60 in the TvZ battle report) - Reaper's Combat Drugs health regeneration ability no longer requires an upgrade - Reaper's bonus damage to light increased to 5 from 3, making it do 18 total to light instead of 14 (4(+5) x2) (this means SCVs now take the same 3 shots to kill as probes and drones) - Nitro packs are back in (yay!) and still require factory
Widow Mine - Detonate no longer timed - Detonate target damage reduced to 165 from 20 - Detonate splash damage reduced to 35 from ~50 (though this may have just been an error on my part since this value was never confirmed)
Battlecruiser - Ground attack increased to 10 from 8 - Redline reactor ability has been removed (temporarily doubled Battlecruiser speed)
PROTOSS
Oracle - Cloaking field ability has been removed, replaced with 'Revelation' ability that reveals enemy cloaked units within a target area - Preordain no longer reveals cloaked units
Tempest - No longer does bonus damage to massive - Regular damage reduced to 30 from 45 - Attack speed increased to 3.3 from 6 (means it is an overall buff to damage) - Movement speed reduced to 1.88 from 2.25
Mothership Core - Looks way cooler now - Health reduced to 150 from 350 - Shield reduced to 100 from 350 - Energize energy cost increased to 100 from 25 - Movement speed increased to 0.47 from 0 (so can now move) - No longer has Teleport ability - Purify damage reduced to 25 from 60 - Purify range reduced to 7 from 13 - Purify duration increased to 45 seconds from 20
Mothership - Vortex reverted back to affecting both ground and air units from only affecting ground units - No longer has the Stasis ability (new ability that froze air units within an area around the Mothership including the Mothership itself for 20 seconds)

Xenox, where are you getting this information? Is the beta out yet?

That tempest change is just facepalmingly bad. Their DPS was already awful, and the high burst damage was basically what could make them useful. Plus the long cooldown made them more micro intensive, allowing you to position them between shots and forcing you to carefully plan and target each shot. I won't be surprised if by the end of the beta they're just another a-move laser spamming unit instead of the unique concept they started out as.

Exactly, Blizzard is making the same mistake with the Tempest that they already made with the Void Ray. If they don't realize that this is reducing micro, then no matter how hard they try, Stargate units will always suck.
