**************************** Marine Tank Challenge! ****************************
Uploaded on NA as "Marine Tank Challenge"
You have to use a group of Marines and Tanks to combat ever increasing waves of slings, blings, and mutas. You better leapfrog quickly, as the zerg swarm grows stronger the longer you wait! Practice your:
Griffith, love your UMS's can't stop playing the Blink ForceField one since you posted it here. Any chance of you creating a similar one vs terran, that can be playable form both sides. I know I'd love to do blink FF vs terran, and I would love to experiment as terran AGAINST the blink forcefielding Protoss. Sort of the same idea as this except v protoss
Oh wow, thanks for this.I recently switched from Zerg to Terran and this'll help so much.Oh,when I got to the flag on the first level,I jumped when the huge fucking wave came.I thought it was just muta's then BOOM! >.<

Can't expect a Terran to show some Zerg love -_-
Like I said - zerg maps are really hard to make because Terran/Toss AI is significantly harder to implement (force fields is a non-trivial thing to add in).
An easy way to get it on SEA is to activate your free NA acc (if you have the SEA one), download it and then play it through versus AI, which means you get no lag. :D
It's a little bit exploitable I've noticed. As soon as 3 tanks are unsieged, the Zerglings and Banelings roll through, so if you time everything correctly, you can catch their whole army off guard. Which might be how a player in real life might act. Either way, it's fucking amazing and I love it!
Can someone please post some replays of atleast finishing the first stage? I can't even manage to beat that haha... This is ridicolously hard, gief an easier option please

Theres ways to abuse the ai I've found. If you split your marines into two groups, and keep them wide enough to lure the mutas in, you can come in from both sides and kill off the mutas real fast. Then you split your marines and tanks a bit, and unsiege two tanks. Unsiege a third tank and the units will start to attack you. The reason you unsieged the two first is so you can siege them up quick as the units come. From there its just the baneling micro level with tank support. Beaten quite a few levels with this technique so far.

Hmm I can probably fix up the mutalisk AI with a scanning search - still thinking of ways to deal with tanks =P
The AI always attacks if you have 3 unsieged tanks, but it only should if you are close. You can unsiege 3 at the spawn and easily win as the zerglings will arrive far before the banelings.
If you get close, you can send one marine through the flags and kill, generally at least, a zergling for free. However, you will usually draw a large number of units before the AI decides to attack. Was this intended? It makes the battle a lot easier.

hey just uploaded one .. check out the link in spoiler
Haha yeah the AI might be TOO hard, but it can't hurt to practice against an AI's micro that may be better than even a high Masters! ( let alone some pros )

Really, thanks for making this. You are awesome.
Glad you like it in a bit I will try and come up with a better AI
accidently found another way to abuse the ai, if a tank goes past the flags, the attack is initialised, so if you wait until the mutas go to eg the bottom left, then push a tank through the flags, you know where the mutas will come from, pick them off, then work on the lings blings with all your tanks and marines. Using this technique i can 1 shot levels 1-5 and it's kinda hard to resist just doing that now that i know it's possible :<
I have a bug on EU. First in the chat there are some parameter values written instead of real text and second when I fail to do level 1 the AI always attacks right in my Tanks before I even cross the border.

The param values are a localization issue.
The AI will attack you if you unsiege too many tanks or do stupid shit. You have to leapfrog your tanks.

For people having trouble: put 1/5 or 1/6 of your Marines, can't rembember the Tank count, on follow on each siege tank and the move 2 at a time. The Mutas will never attack you and after some time you can try to do it by yourself.
Thanks a lot for this map. TvZ is definitely my weakest matchup, both in terms of my percentages and my confidence going into it. Banelings still slaughter me so I def. need to improve my tank-rine action.
I play this by unsieging everything, spread tanks, run in, and then when you see the lings, siege up + target fire banelings + stutterstep/split marines away. I think this is what you'd do in a real game too (i'd have a scan)- leapfrogging is very slow.
btw griffith I would be curiuos to see how much each army costs at each level.

how the hell do you target banelings? AFAIK There is no way to manually target the banelings (despite the attack commands)
yes - when i get off my lazy ass i may make some additional guis for army costs, etc.

I just shift click them while the tanks are sieging. You should split marines before doing this because it the command only goes through to the tanks only if the banelings are in range, and the tanks take a long time to siege, so you might as well split while the banelings are getting in range.
hi griffith there is only a bugged version on EU server can u upload the map on a filehoster / map-site, so i can download it and play it @ sc2-editor?
Hey griffith, dunno if you're still around but I think the patch broke part of the map. It won't tell you the level anymore. Thanks for making this map though!
There's a bunch of trigger errors on the current US one and the level text doesn't display.
It's pretty easy if you target fire banes with tanks. You don't even have to split your marines. Just position them intelligently and bait the tanks. Maybe move a portion of your marines a bit more forward if banes are going to actually hit, but generally they don't. I didn't realize there were levels and this worked ~14 times before I got bored.
pretty sweet man, def worth the practice. Although I kept on thinking that while I am using 100% of my attention just to meticulously microing individual tanks, the zerg is back home macroing lol
