Hey guys, I hope this is the right place to ask. If not I apologise.
Is there a peepmode/Obs map available for the EU server? If not, who can I contact to see if there is one on it's way or suggest that one be done.
The group of guys I play with use to have hours of fun on the WOL obs maps and we would love to get that going again.
Thanks

there is a non-thunder rain emitter i believe and also you can scale the size of the emitter so instead of placing 3 or 4 of them, just increase the size of one. that also cuts down on the amount of lightning if you use that emitter

Hi, guys. I just started toying with the SC2 editor out of boredom. My goal is to make a final fantasy type UMS with Starcraft characters. However, after using the SC2 editor, I now realize this isn't going to be such an easy goal.
Anybody have some tips for me on where to get up to date guides for mapping?

What is the Graphic setting to get the Blue pylon radiusin HotS?
|
Hey guys, does anybody know if there is an arcade map out with the updated HotS stuff which lets you play a map while microing a probe? I used to practice with Eklipz APM trainer a bit, which was basically Daybreak with a small area added where you had to micro a probe away from a zealot while having to execute your build and not bank up too much minerals/gas or you'd lose. I would LOVE to get my hands on a HotS version of this map or a smiliar one, because it really helped me improve my multitasking and APM back then.

Are there any active 2v2 map makers around? Would be great if there were some awesome community made 2v2 maps with a new theme to shake up 2v2 a bit. Really like the matchup, just some of the maps feel a bit "wrong" so to speak on ladder.

So I'm creating a game where you control one unit, moving it left and right using "A" and "D". I want to use shift to sprint. Now, understanding that not everybody has the "sticky keys" feature disabled, is there any way to be sure that players won't be taken out of the game if they spam the shift key? Thanks.

Without knowledge of how to use the terrain editor, you can't make a map. Fortunately, the terrain editor is the easiest to learn. Next, you'll need to become familiar with the trigger editor. Don't worry, you don't need to know a programming language to use it (unless you know Galaxy and want to create custom scripts, but it doesn't seem like you do and custom scripts are only shortcuts to using triggers/actions/ect.). Last, you'll need to get familiar with the data editor. The data editor is usually the hardest to learn because it's almost impossible to learn what EVERYTHING is and what EVERY field modifies. However, it is not the most essential to learn, as, depending on what kind of map you're trying to create, you may not even have to touch it. But it's highly recommended to get down the basics, as you'll probably want to at least modify units' health, give them abilities, ect. The only way to get better at using it is practicing.
If you come across something that you don't understand, don't say to yourself, "That looks confusing, I'll just try to avoid using that". At first, back when I didn't even understand conditions, I just avoided using them, but when I got to understand what they were (which isn't complicated at all), it opened up another hundred thousand features I could implement into the game. I've been using the editor since StarCraft I, and am pleased with how easy it is to learn and use the editor.
As for HOW to learn, use SC2Mapster.com and YouTube, specifically YouTube user OneTwoSC (Link to his channel). He creates great tutorials on how to create all types of games and adding awesome features.
If you have any simple questions, keep posting in this thread.
Good luck, and have fun modifying the game to your heart's content.

so im getting this funky texture glitch where its creating little lined segments when i use the "noise" tool... anyone know what the problem is? is it just because its an outdated texture im attempting to use or is there another problem? heres a screenshot.

I don't think that's a glitch. If you move your camera around and you see the texture "deciding what layer should be on top", then maybe it is, but to me, it actually looks aesthetically pleasing.

Ramps need to be diagonal for them to be blocked off properly by buildings. Otherwise you can't wall off properly. It has always been this way.

Explaining further. This is a post from the WiP thread:
On March 17 2013 23:04 algue wrote:Most of the ramps have to be changed, people don't like horizontal and vertical ramps The base layout is weird The only thing i really like on this map are the two center bases forcing the players to moveif they cut the map in half but with the current layout I don't think they will ever get more than 3 bases.
All the ramps that are reasonable to have a wall-in near are diagonal. So apparently there's either something else wrong with non-diagonal ramps, or our dear poster is abit overzealous.

Our dear poster is a bit overzealous. The only potential downside to them when not used for a wall-off ramp is on the aesthetic side of things, but that's up to the individual to make them look nice.
Seems like the poster in the WIP thread heard they were bad but didn't really understand why, so just painted with a broad brush.

In that case it's not so bad, but cardinal ramps can be more difficult to identify (although that depends) and for main ramps, as you said, they're awkward for wall-offs.

I'm looking for some new (hots) desert / beach maps. Anyone got suggestions?
|
Are you looking specifically for 1v1 maps? There are two new desert ladder maps; Graystone Ravine and Sands of Strife. Then there is also Akilon Wastes for 1v1... Phaeton is the new desert tileset. For beaches, you'll just have to create one yourself or hope someone around here gets creative. ESV Iron Hills is kinda beach/desert-ish.
