Manifesto7 is that generous guy that stretched his arms to cover the huge gap between the Koreans and us. Without him, South Korea would still be "the southern neighbor of North Korea".
He is the big man behind TeamLiquid, secretly controlling all there is to control, and making sure everything is in order. He has witnessed the changes there, he may have even been involved in some of them, but he definitely had an important role in what we have come to know as TeamLiquid.net.
Now over at teamnaw.com Sweden Emerald published an interview with Manifesto7 that focuses on the TeamLiquid StarLeague and its heavy influence on the non Korean StarCraft scene. "I think the TSL is filling a real gap in the community, as we haven't had a big competition for everyone for quite a while", says Manifesto.

I admire the courage to start a countdown before the majority of the work was done. Giving promises or even worse setting deadlines is something I really try to avoid when doing something related to computer.

The countdown was like a binding contract, and it was as important for the staff motivation as it was for the hype of the event for the general public. I felt the countdown needed to be started asap so that everyone felt the pressure and basically had to do their jobs or the site would be ruined with a horrible no-announcement.
Hilariously, as late as one week before the announcement Kennigit and I were still joking about what we could announce if the TSL didn't work out. The whole process of setting it up was undoubtedly stressful yet amazingly rewarding, and Mani was the rock that steadied us all when each had our little freak outs.
Edit: nice interview!

Haha, I like all the Mani photos spread out. Interesting interview, once again giving them some information on the behind the scenes planning of the TSL.

HIP HIP HOOOORAYYYYYYY!!~

"a ripoff of a Korean show" "and got some money together." "TL has invested a significant amount of resources into new servers for the broadcast" "Live video-stream for anyone who wants to watch!" "information about the sponsor closer to the time of the actual TSL when we start broadcasting live" "Just for people to check out the TSL when it goes live in May. We made it for you, so show your support."
hmmm.. smells like sponsor = TL admins themselves expecting to get invested money back from adds during broadcast?
If so, that's an awesome initiative from you guys and I hope it works so we can do it again ^^ It's an awesome idea in any way actually, thanks for everything and great interview!

The prize money was a very good promotion tool itself. TSL offers 10 000 USD to the winners. Who sponsors the league?
- "We will be releasing information about the sponsor closer to the time of the actual TSL when we start broadcasting live."
For me, that is most interesting question in the entire interview. Will we be shocked? I already have my own guess.
