It's really surprising to me to see an unoriginal map like Overgrowth getting so many more votes over Waystation.

I'm glad Blizzard grabbed King Sejong Research Station from the SPL map pool. That's been a personal favorite of mine.

After seeing some of the code A games on Merry Go Round, it's looking really cool, and capable of producing some macro games, not just a maximum 3 bases map.

Merry go round: decent
King sejong station: no games for me yet, looks cool in prolaegue tho
Overgrowth: kinda bad

King sejong is just impossible for me in ZvT, third base waaay too far away. Reapers (and later+helions) keep you from expanding forever and if you finally manage to there is great possibilities for drops in main base, push through the backdoor in the natural and at the third at the same time. With the distance between the bases and the impossibility to get creep going far enough to see anything before it hits you its just fatal. How is Z supposed to take terran on this map is just beyond me, there are great positions for tank pushes and various other advantages too.

I've never vetoed a map before(Usually say just learn to play the map+get better) but it feels like the only choice for me on King sejong would be to cheese against terran and I don't want to do that.

I like overgrowth, both because I like how the maps pathways flows and the extra dynamics of the gold base. Ofc there is a plus that the third is so close by I also think the actual textures and look of the map makes me feel more at home, I like the atmosphere.

Really, I think even Overgrowth can grow on me too, there is no map in the pool that strikes me as just outright shit like Yeonsu and Polar night did for so long.

Waystation is reaaaally bad for multiple reasons but the most obvious one has to be the super huge ramp to the natural. Overgrowth's ramp is quite ridiculous as well. Zergs are having a fun time on these new maps imo. Protosses are forced to go gateway expand or else they risk being overwhelmed by slings. P v Ts are fine though. Z v X are horrible. Why oh why.

My Terran perspective: Merry Go Round and Overgrowth are fresh and fun. No major flaws. King Sejong is so damn hard because of the super long rush distance and huge surface area to cover against drops/mutas/oracles. You have to be extremely defensive against air and protoss warp gate attacks. Then on the counter it takes absolutely forever to get there. It often turns into 2 base vs 2 base because of how hard it is to keep a third and defend the main at the same time. I don't like it too much but whatever.

Waystation - fuck this map completely. The long way is just ridiculously big. Rush distance makes anything other than proxies or 3 base a waste. No matter how hard I try, defenders advantage never lets you win on a 2 or 3 base timing. You either win right away or it goes to maxed armies with 10k banks and a million swarm host vipers or a million storm tempests. It becomes a rush to mass ravens. just a terrible way to play. much to big an area to cover. the short version of this map is hilarious. Terran is way overpowered with that short rush distance. Siege your opponents natural so quickly, defend all your bases so easily.

I really like all the new map they are all fresh and new and not so good for blink stalkers and super early cheese in general. Really huge improvement only flaw is 3rd base is hard to get on some maps but I think they did that on purpose

Only problem with nerfing blink stalkers by altering the maps is that Reapers are much less useful now at gathering that info

Overgrowth for T seems tricky to take a 3rd and Waystation the the far spawns is hilariously far away to attack in TvZ and TvP

Merry Go Round because I have spent like 3 years waiting for a 3 player map to be played competitively after Testbug.
Overgrowth and King Sejong are also pretty fun maps though, I really enjoy playing on both of them.
The blizzard map though, well I usually don't veto maps but every game I play on it pushes me closer to vetoing it.

I like Merry Go Round best so far. King Sejong Station is pretty good. Overgrowth is more or less a normal map, no complaints.

Waystation, though... depending on how the spawns are (and the opponent), I like it or I loathe it. Long spawns - it's okay, but watch out of island shenanigans. Short spawns? Kill me now, and of course there will be island shenanigans.

Merry Go Round is very interesting, but to me seems very Terran favored, especially against Zerg. Holding one of those center high ground bases is nearly impossible with melee units.

MGR is a good, interesting map that suffers from having a terrible, terrible name. And for all the hate that Waystation gets, at least it's not as bad as Maze from Proleague. Now that is a map that is 10 shades of retarded. God help us all if they decide to start using it in WCS.

King Sejong is incredibly hard to hold a 4th on vs Terran and I don't like the layout.

Waystation has a free island base for Terran or an absurd rush distance which makes scouting difficult in ZvZ and ZvP.

Merry Go Round has similar problems as Frost where there's a slight coinflip element in ZvZ. It's okay for ZvT and ZvP though I wish the ramp was a little smaller.

Overgrowth is just a really solid good map. It's like a better version of Habitation.

Waystation and King Sejong are really bad maps imo. They suck. They really, really suck compared to such a great map like Frost. Overgrowth is pretty balanced. Overgrowth and Frost allow for almost every type of strat to be viable but not to the extend that they can be abused. That is the sign of a good map.

I really like Merry Go Round. It's been a long time since we've tried a 3 player map and I think it's created some very enjoyable games. Overgrowth is probably the most boring of the new maps imo but none of them are particularly bad imo. Waystation I guess is kind of weird with the two different kinds of spawns but I don't hate it. There have been way worse maps.

Overgrowth is a lot of fun, as a Zerg player. Not a big fan of King Sejong, but that's not really due to the map, just all the 1-2 base Protoss shenanigans I've had to deal with on each ZvP.

Merry Go Round is really fun. Habitation is a good, standard map. Waystation is... wierd, but so far its "ok." I have King vetoed, but I may give it a shot shortly as it hasn't been received as negatively as I was expecting it to be.

Enjoying overgrowth so far, seems all kinds of things work on it.
Waystation I don't like the islands are tricksy P/ZvT and if you get TvZ long spawns you're feel pretty screwed.

King Sejong Station is so nice for zerg! Open area for forth base and many places to go for mutas for example, the only minus is that it's a bit hard to cover the middle.

i voted for overgrowth aswell, but not because i like it that much. its mostly because all the other maps are really bad designed. way station dont got a high ground advantage on any of the spawning locations and the 3rd is either giving the opponament high ground advantage or is way too open on the field(depending on where u spawn), with a good opportunity to camp medivacs and mass drop. i feel like the protoss is forced to all in because its so difficult to take a 3rd and the terran will often lose the 3rd because its just in the meta to take a 3rd vs zerg as T and slowly kill them. these maps are forcing sertain play styles or strategies to be used too often. like proxy 2rax reaper or proxy stargate on king sejong because u ofc wont delay the worker from scouting the opponaments main base for 20 sec.
another example would be alterzim stronghold. 10gate vs 12gate scout. the scout will be too late if it doesn't find him at the first scouting location.

the vetoes in tournaments should not only be based on match ups. it should be based on the players play styles or strategies aswell. i see alot of players vetoing the same map in every single tournament because they are facing T or P and they know that it would be a big risk to be playing on that map, since no build is bullet proof maps should have small advantages for every race like in mid2013, instead of saying that "this map is super terran favored but then u will be playing a super zerg favored map later because u didnt have any vetoes left" and make them play super risky.
